I took her to the vet and she had to start taking hormone pills daily. Fortunately, she loved taking them, and her fur all came back on her tummy and legs. Maybe you could check that possibility out.
Barbie-LouAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24425431.post-1164769773464202632006-11-28T22:09:00.000-05:002006-11-28T22:09:00.000-05:00Hi! We hadn't really noticed Wiley excessively licking or grooming her tummy either, although we're very watchful now...when we're home from work :-(

And I will only suspect her food as an allergy source as a last resort. She's been eating Innova EVO since July '05. The thinning is pretty recent although I can't recall exactly when I realized that something wasn't right; but I think it's only been a few weeks. I suppose it's possible for her to have developed an allergic response this late but I really hope not.

I have relatively recently bought some different treats for our fur-babies, Feline Greenies, but I can't remember if the timing corresponds. Just in case, we've stopped feeding her those.

Wiley has a chair with a blanket that she tends to sleep on a lot. Maybe I'll try washing it more frequently. And speaking of washing, we've also been using the same "All Free Clear" laundry soap and dryer sheets for quite some time--since before her tummy alopecia I'm sure.

I hope you find out what's causing Emma's fur loss too. I'll try the Feliway and see what happens.

Thanks!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24425431.post-1164768577788543572006-11-28T21:49:00.000-05:002006-11-28T21:49:00.000-05:00Donna - I'm having a similar problem with Emma. H...Donna - I'm having a similar problem with Emma. Her furr is thinning on the back of her back legs and her tummie and a little on the back of her front legs. It only started about 7-8 weeks ago. And I've not seen her over grooming or itching/scratching at all! I'm thinking it could be alergy. Maybe something on one of her new kitty blankies. She seems to be getting thinning hair on her undersides, where she'd be laying. And I had her on a ocean whitefish Nutro food. It was suggested to put her on a chicken based food. So far I'm not seeing a difference. So next, I'm going to wash the blanket and see if that makes a difference. So, it could be some sort of allergy that Wiley has or like you said stress induced. So, it's just started recently? Any new food or anything new put into the house? I would definately give the Feliway a try. And if the problem persists, on to the vet! Let us know.Emma's Kathttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08708222743166692782noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24425431.post-1164764793205606322006-11-28T20:46:00.000-05:002006-11-28T20:46:00.000-05:00It may be too late to post this today, but I'm loo...It may be too late to post this today, but I'm looking for advice. Our Wiley has started over-grooming and her tummy barely has peach fuzz on it :-( She does tend to get harrassed a little bit by Maddie and sometimes Kona although I *think* (hope?) they're just playing but Wiley doesn't understand that. So I'm wondering if it's a stress-induced behavior. I was thinking about trying that Feliway stuff. If that didn't help, then it's off to the vet with her. Ugggghhh. I don't like doctors (people or pet doctors) for non-obvious problems. I'm pretty sure there aren't any fleas, but could she be developing an allergy problem with house dust mites?

Thanks you all!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24425431.post-1164762116317036302006-11-28T20:01:00.000-05:002006-11-28T20:01:00.000-05:00He sure doesn't look 16.
