Kat's Korner >^..^<

"After scolding one's cat one looks into its face and is seized by the ugly suspicion that it understood every word. And has filed it for reference." Charlotte Gray

Don't know why the quote will show up down here and not at the top!?? So strange...stupid Blogger! Anyways, at least now everyone can see it with no problems! I'm working on new pics of Boca too! My hubby has been hogging the camera! We need a new one and need to let this old one be his work camera, right?!

Kat's Korner is still disappearing on me, but if I scroll down and the up again it reappears! Strange!

This quote is so true! It was especially true with a cat I had named Arthur!!!! With Oscar, he's always fine with everything!

I haven't had problems seeing this quote. It seems to appear when it's below the picture. At least on my computer. I couldn't see it before either but now I can with no problems.

Hello all!!!

kat1 - quote showed up fine today.

yuki fits that quote. scold her and she will stare a hole thru you and she will ignore you until she feels you have been punished enough. LOL

Ain't it the truth--Scold Meepsie: get swatted, Scold Flumpy: get The Look, scold Shep the Dog: get an apology, big sloppy kisses, and promises that he'll NEVER do it again, until the next time!

I have Firefox for my browser, and have no trouble with Kat's Corner, but the pictures load top to bottom, rather than side to side. The content is there, so I don't care...

hi everyone,

i just went to cute overload to look at the kittens all curled up. i glanced at the side bar and saw a bill the humane society is sponsering about pets and evacuations (like w/ katrina). i haven't ck'd it out thoroughly but i skimmed over it. what do you think about it?

I think this is definately a needed bill. Our animals are part of our family and to have to abandon our pets is unacceptable! And a lot of people won't leave their pets thus putting their lives at risk. There should definately be a bill passed for pet evacuations.

Yes, I definitely agree about pet evacuations. We are in Houston and were involved with refuges from Katrina, then had our own scare with Rita. So many of those folks from New Orleans chose to stay with their pets rather than leave. It broke my heart, the ones we talked to, that left furry loved ones behind. So many of those kids woke up screaming, looking for a cat or dog they were forced to leave. Different companies and volunteers in our area went in right after the hurricane and picked up strays. Many of those strays that were not reunited with their families have been adopted by our friends and neighbors. How could anyone ask a person to leave a pet behind. That is inhuman.
Forgive me for ranting, but during Rita, when the freeways were clogged and it was apparent there was no way out for us, shelters were being set up. We refused to even consider a shelter because of having to leave Missy and Bear, as did all of our neighbors with pets. Again, sorry to rant and rave.

mary lynn - don't apologize. i agree 100%, there is NO WAY i could ever leave my pets in an evacuation. they are a part of our families.

I am in 100% agreement to the need for this bill, because anyone who knows me knows I wouldn NEVER leave a burning building without Emily.(I even have an exit plan for that!) But in a mass emergency situation like that, I may as well be asked "well,we'll take you, but your cat and your right arm will have to stay here"...no decision to be made...
I believe in writing/e-mailing lawmakers, ESPECIALLY IN AN ELECTION YEAR!! I've gone ahead and put in my 2 cents...
oh BTW, the basket o'kittens just made me into a bowl of Jello! I want thr 2 up top, I think they're Main Coon-like?! Too Cute!

I agree and signed a petition to that affect. I get a monthly update from the ASPCA and there was a petition to get Congress to pass a bill that would make it so that during an evacuation, people would not have to leave their pets. My parent are in New Orleans and had to evacuate. They live in a good area and thankfully left when asked to. They took their cats with them, there was no way they were going to leave them. A lot of the people in the city didn't have cars and that's where the problems came in. It breaks my heart, the way things were handled. I hope this is something that will get more attention in the future!

I went to the web address that momsbusy posted earlier and signed up to get their emails. Also forwarded the web address on to a few interested friends. Sorry to get so carried away earlier -- deep breath -- whew -- but until these past two hurricanes I honestly did not know about the pets.
Once again, thankful to Kat for creating a forum to exchange information, to chat (and rant), in addition to the momma-load of beautiful cats.

Hey, Kat? Have you ever done a web search of Kat's Cat of the Day?
I just did, and you're in there-many times over, and Pet du Jour!
Feel like I'm rubbing elbows -er-keyboards with the Famous Ones!

One More Thing (yeah, yeah, yeah,)
someone, somewhere led me to Kessels.com..ya wouldn't think it, but it's quite amusing for FELINE LOVERS!(cat sounds, names, quotes, really cute WebMaster...)

I'll shut it now...

(keep the cheering down, eh? Your scaring my cat!)

Rose, I had that on one of my Kat's Korners. Isn't it hilarious! My girls of the house, at least, went crazy...lookin behind the speakers, under the computer desk and even turned to look behind them in my jumbo dog crate!! They remembered that kittens that little stayed in the crate until big enough. Too funny! Then I felt bad, 'cause they were so confused! My Benji and Marley (both boys) didn't seem to hear the kitten sounds coming out of the speakers! That's just like a man for ya! lol

So much to discuss here. Meowmepurr's momma--I use Firefox too and I also don't have any problems seeing Kat's Korner or the quote; and the pictures load vertically, not horizontally.

I would never leave willingly without our cats. Never ever. I support such a bill.

I started to play one of the kitten sounds and Wiley's eyes got as huge as saucers and she started looking around. I felt bad too, like I was tricking her, so I stopped it from playing :-)

Kat, the pictures of your foster kitties and of Boca are absolutely precious.

Kathleen, that's wonderful. They are beautiful. And you are so...so...I can't think of the right word, wonderful just isn't adequate, to adopt *both* of them.

Anonymous said...

Ah, Kathleen, take 'em all! LOL. Can you take the one that the stupid person brought in to have put to sleep because they are moving? I get angry just thinking about that. It's like someone's thought processes (I use that term loosely) is something like "Well, you're an inconvenience now, so I'll just have you killed." Grrrrrr.

Sorry.

Emma's Kat said...

Kathleen, That is great! They are beautiful! Good luck on whoever you choose, or chooses you! Make sure you send us pix though!!
