Lily & Josie

These are pictures of my 2 kitties Lily and Josie. Lily is almost six years old & Josie is about 9 months old. Lily was my only kitty for many years until she disappeared for over a month last year. When I thought all hope was gone I rescued Josie from the MSPCA. Then 2 days later the MSPCA called me to tell me someone had just turned in Lily... I guess it was fate for all of us in one way or another. -Lisa R.

Good morning! Another "great" story! So many sad and unfortunate stories, but there are the good stories too! Lily is beautiful and looks like she and Josie get along well. Lisa R., what was Lily's condition when you picked her up from the MSPCA!?

I just love this story! It's so heart warming! Lily and Josie are so sweet and their names are cute too! They look like they've formed a bond! I agree, it was fate. Lisa, you have a wonderful kitty family!

Good Morning Fuzzies!

What a wonderful story. It was meant to be. You have a lovely furry family. Thank you for sharing them with us.

What a beautiful pair of cats. And what a wonderful story. They do look like they have a very close bond. You are very lucky to have such a neat cat family.

Kat, just got a copy of Chicken Soup for the Cat Lover's Soul. Haven't had time to start it, but on the back cover is a quote: WHAT GREATER GIFT THAN THE LOVE OF A CAT? (Charles Dickens). So very true.

Oscar the Puppy Cat said...

ML, will you let me know how you like it? I've been thinking of getting it.

Good Morning Fuzz Pack!!!!!! I think I am finally going to be able to come on the site more than once a day now. YEAH!!!! I miss being here all day (not getting work done)

Any way these two are adorable. It is great when the babies get along. The way things work out are great. I am very happy for you that Lilly was found. Now you have twice as much kitty love in your world. Take care of them.

Emma's Kat said...

ML & Kim - I love my Chicken Soup for the Cat Lover! I've been meaning to get it out again and re-read it. That's probably a great place to look for some more new quotes and sayings. I'm adding the one you just posted to my list. It is truely true!! :)

Two lucky and now very happy kitties.

By the way, check out cute overload today, they have a funny "cats in boxes" picture.

Aaaw. They are beautiful (I can't remember how to spell this morning). I especially like the expression on tiger colored ones (Josie?) face. She just looks so happy and content.

And you are right meowmepurr, I shouldn't be such a sh**head to my mom, but it is so much fun! Just kidding, me and my mom are very close, and she knows I love her, even if she is old and forgetful and I have to keep reminding her...LOL :o)

Anonymous said...

PS...you know it is funny somebody said yesterday that the Fuzzpack should get together and meet, and yesterday I was thinking the same thing...LOL

Emma's Kat said...

Cecilia - I meant to mention that earlier. Was that not the funniest thing and so typical of a cat!? I love it!

I can't wait to read the book, fortunately, it is a collection of short stories, which is easy to handle during a busy day. A great and funny book is CATS WHO QUILT by Judy Heim (she used to write a techy column for PC World). Read an excerpt, "Suzy the Cat Angel and Feather Toys of Heaven" and "Quilting Lesson #1 for Cats: What to Do With An Ironing Board"
here: http://www.catswhoquilt.com/excerpts1.html. There are more stories from her book on the website.
Also, my favorite cat quote is: We humans are indeed very fortunate if we happen to be chosen to be owned by a cat. You can see this as an art print at: http://www.allposters.com/gallery.asp?aid=1807613527&c=c&search=976&ovmkt=F8L8UN6M0HUCP4P348DOU1P24C&GCID=s15100x003%2DOthers&KEYWORD=cat+poster.

I guess there are some things I must add to my reading list. Thanks to the folks who mentioned them!

Lisa, I'm so glad you got Lily back. The waiting and wondering must have been awful, but the happy ending is great to hear about. Your kitty buddies are lovely - and adorable together, too! They look like a mini-panther and a mini-tiger. (Two of my favorite types.)

Wow! I managed to sleep in for a change(all the way to 5:30).

ML--I'm headed off to read Judy Heim as soon as I'm done here!! I'm so excited that your nurse and sister want kittens. For your health and sanity, I'm also so excited that you FINALLY have nurses!! You have been carrying a heavy load these past years.

FUZZ PACKERS ALL-- I agree that the Pack needs to have a meeting! I think, in honor of Kat, that we should meet in Virginia Beach. Since my Dad and my Sainted Stepmother moved there in '76, and the SS still lives there, I know the Beach area quite well. There are hotels from Really Nice, to Nice and Cheap to Really Cheap and Funky--and I've stayed at some of each!! It's within driving distance for most of the East Coast Pack, and those of us out here on the Left Coast may be able to gang up on one of the airlines and get a group rate!!

Sorry about all of that--one of our other family sayings is that any excuse will do for a trip, and I'm the family trip planner. Paul, who's motto is "There is no excuse good enough for a trip," just looked over my shoulder and said, "Where are we going and why are we in this handbasket?" Men--ya gotta love them!

Meowmepurr's Mumma said...

Oh, sorry--Lily and Josie are just as cute as cute can be, and Lily is sitting in my chair--I have a pair identical to hers, inherited from my grandmother! Has anyone else noticed that Lily's tongue appears to be slightly out in the second picture?

Morning all!

Hi Lily! Hi Josie!

They are so cute. I'm very glad that you all ended up together in the end. It was meant to be.

In Chicken Soup, the story about Wheezy had me laughing so hard my husband came in to the room to make sure I was OK.

But do keep the tissues nearby for the happy, heartwarming tears and the sad but heartwarming tears.

Meows from Grace & Company to Lily & Josie. They are beautiful. As to the Fuzz Pack meeting in Virginia Beach -- I'll be there. I'm moving from Houston to Bethesda, MA in July.

momsbusy said...

ok, now i gotta go to the bookstore and pick up all these great sounding books. i'm glad they are all short stories. i might get to read them.

trip sounds great. maybe towards the end of summer or possibly next summer. gotta give everyone time to get it in the planner. remember financing may be an issue for some.

mumma - got any names/addresses/phone #'s of those hotels?

This is exciting! It would be too much fun to meet everyone! Someday we will do this! It'll stink that we can't personally meet everyone's kitties though!

Good morning Lily and Josie, and Good morning fuzz pack.

Looks like Lily and Josie are mighty comfortable on that pretty blanket. So happy that they are together and that Lisa R. you got Lily back. I am with Kat1, would like to know what condition Lily was when you got her back.

Lily and Josie are two cutie pies, and it looks like nap time is over with and they will commence playing at any moment.

Off to the library to do my volunteer work. Will have to check the other sites when I get back home. Have a good day everyone!!

Anonymous said...

Hi again ladies, I had to check out what you said about the tongue meowmepurr, and too my disappointment, it is only the way the light is hitting her fur there. So no tongue. Oh well, I love pics with the tongues sticking out...by the way do any of your cats do this, I know why they do it, but I think it is hysterical when they do it, my Munchkin will be smelling something, usually a shoe, and when she looks up from smelling, her mouth is slightly open, so the expression on her face looks like "Geesh, that is really stinky!" It makes me laugh everytime I see it....

danielle said...

I am definately in for the meeting. I am one of those who might have the financial problems. I also would have the children problem as well. On the other hand I would be able to bring Spot. He's a good traveler.

Anonymous said...

I agree that it would be a shame not to be able to meet everyone's kitties too, especially since they are really the ones that brought all of us together. I for one, will never travel with my babies unless I have to. They all howl like they were being taken to slaughter, except Charlotte. She just lays down and goes to sleep. She is a good kid. :o)

Anonymous said...

yep, I knew why they did it, but I never knew the name for it, and now that you mention it they have that stinky face look after smelling eachothers butts...why in the world they would want to get a deep whiff of that is beyond me.
Charlotte is the only one that does this to me, but at night when we go to sleep she will hop on my chest, turn around with her butt towards me and back up so she is right in my face, and I am like look, I am your mamma, but you are big enough to clean yourself, get that thing out of here. (Can anyone tell that I am bored at work?)

danielle said...

Riquel,
I understand being bored at work. I am everyday. The cat butt in the face thing we have one who insists on doing that to my mom. My mom pushes her off the couch.

I thought the open mouth thing was if they smelled other cats urine or spray. Is that a part of it as well?

KC and the Giggleman Kitties said...

Okay, GS, you cat expert, a question -- and everyone else, too -- what is with the face rubbing? Missy rubs and rubs her face on me. Sometimes I wake up and she's rubbing her little pointy face up against my shoulders. Is it affection? I thought so, but then I see her do the same to a cardboard box (and there goes my ego.....) or her scratching post. Figure her face itches. What a delight cats are.

Anonymous said...

I had read somewhere that there are glands or something like that in the whisker area, that leave scent, so basically when she is rubbing up against you, she is marking you....so other cats know you belong to her....He he. :o)

Oscar the Puppy Cat said...

How about if we meet in the middle of the country? Maybe in Branson, MO or somewhere like that? Maybe Little Rock? HOT SPRINGS,AR! There are some great places in the middle of the US. Vegas would be nice too, a big temptation though. BUT, they might offer great group rates! And if we could talk to some other sitesm ie, TDK and the like, we might be able to get sponsors to help pay for a lot of the trip. Petsmart, Hills, Purina...! Denver would be a good place and it's the home of Purina. Now I'm excited. When I mentioned it yesterday and nobody commented, I figured that no one thought it was a good idea! Now everyone is into it! I would say that NEXT year would be better than this year.

Anonymous said...

danielle, I am bored everyday too...what do you do, maybe we have the same job description..I am a receptionist in a very small law office...

Anonymous said...

yea i like to meet all u ladys so u can see how mean Riquel is to me and her are not close Riquel u lie alot LOL LOL heheheheheh

KC and the Giggleman Kitties said...

Kim, I didn't see the comment yesterday, but have thought before it would be fun. But sponsers, wow! Purina is all Missy will eat, I use it because they don't use dyes. We need to bring the cats, too.

riquel, is that true? Missy is marking me. LOL. That must be why, after visiting, she sniffs me kinda from afar and looks funny, like I'm sniffing but I'm not going to get too close.

Anonymous said...

see people, I told you she was crazy! LOL he he

I created a new site. If anyone wants to go there.

Anonymous said...

ml, that is what I read, I don't remember where I read it though, or maybe I saw it on Animal Planet

Oscar the Puppy Cat said...

I guess I should clarify something. What I mean by talking to other site is, the bigger the potential gathering, the more likely of a sponsership. If we had enough people actually interested, it might be possible for a company to invest in a convention if they believe that there is money to be made. Other sponsors to thing about is someone like Catfancy, actually any big "Cat" friendly company.
Hey, if you're gonna drea, dream big! Money is going to be hard for some but maybe with enough time and planning, it might be managable.

That is soooooo cool that you got your kitty back!! I hope those 2 get along!!
Way cute kitties!!!

GS, Riquel, when our kitties do that open-mouthed thing, we call it a "super-sniff". Kona does it the most. I hardly ever see Wiley or Maddie do it. Maybe Kona is the most inquisitive or it's a male kitty thing.

If the timing and $$ came together I would love meeting all of you. I agree, though, that it is sad that we couldn't meet all our kitties. Ours do pretty well with car travel (don't know about airplanes--I'm hesitant) but they prefer to stay home. :-)

How close are some of us together? It would be fun to meet someplace that was within driving distance of a couple of us so we could go meet some of our kitties. Meowmepurr's mumma and I are within 5-6 hours of each other (I think, right?)

Listen to me...I don't think I could make a trip this year and here I am brainstorming!

Anonymous said...

Hello from Houston. Does anyone have any tips on how I can wean the babies from Grace? I've never done this before. I would like to do it without causing any trauma that would put the kittens into "kitty therapy" later in life! :) Thanks for your help!

Oscar the Puppy Cat said...

Deb, I can't help with that. I did have another idea about Grace and her babies. Call a local news channel and see if they'll do a human interest piece on Grace and how she came to be in your care. That is how we adopted our dog, Wags. I saw him on the morning news, listened to his story, and the next thing I know, we're bringing him home to live with us. Just a thought.

danielle said...

Well I work in a warehouse for a fabric finisher. I am all by myself all day long. No interaction except for breaks. The only good thing is nobody knows about the time I spend on the computer.

Anonymous said...

Hey Kim, I just sent an email to KHOU.com about us trying to find homes for Grace and her kitties. I provided Kat's and Rita's URLs.

It would be nice if they pursued the idea and did a story on them.

Anonymous said...

Danielle, that stinks. I am pretty much isolated from the rest of my office too...so I know what you mean. Fortunatly my boss doesn't care how much time I spend on the computer, she actually encourages it because my job is so boring.

Anonymous said...

Thanks for the suggestion, Kim --- and thanks to Donna for her quick follow-up. I'll let you know if I hear anything from KHOU. I just gave Grace & babies lots of kisses. Irresistable! Wow -- the Fuzz Pack is amazing!

Emma's Kat said...

Deb, the best thing to do is let them nurse until they are adopted out. Just make sure you are putting dry kitten food down, which I'm sure you are. Are they eating dry kitten food? If not too good, you might try giving them canned kitten food several times a day. I would let them nurse though.

KC and the Giggleman Kitties said...

Okay, Fuzz Pack, just sent an email and photos to STAAR Pals (http://www.staarnet.org/pages/contact.htm).
CAPS (Citizens for Animal Protection -- http://www.cap4pets.org/) has reps inside of Petsmart and Saturday viewings, will wait until I hear from Lisa to see when we can set that up.
Still waiting, the nurse doesn't want a kitten, but her sister might. Waiting to hear...!
If anyone has any suggestions, ideas, please please please let Deb or I know.

KC and the Giggleman Kitties said...

Thanks, Donna, great idea. Wow, TV star kitties.

danielle said...

Riquel,
I would probably get in trouble if I got caught. Fortunately no one comes over here too often. I would love to be encouraged to "play" on the computer. The worst part is that they can see what I'm doing in New York and they can block sites.

Lynn said...

Hi All,
Lily and Josie are so cute. I think its great that you were able to get Lily back.
My job is a boring one too. I'm actually the only person in the office. My boss is a general contractor who spends most of his time in the field managing the projects. I handle all the office work so I can pretty much stay online as much as I want. My boss doesn't really care as long as the work gets done, which is the thing I love about this job. Actually he's letting me go early for the holiday, so I'm about to take off. See you all next week and enjoy your holiday!

Dear GS,

Regarding your question about talking to your cats...

"All. the. time."

:-)

KC and the Giggleman Kitties said...

I talk to Missy and she seems to listen and understand some of it. Even worse, I sing to her. I have a horrible off-key singing voice, but that cat will curl up and look at me so intently, I think she loves it.
Now watch, some smarty is gonna come on here and tell me that's the typical cat behavior when they hear a noise sooooo bad....!

Oscar the Puppy Cat said...

Yep, me too! :)

danielle said...

Always doing it!

Emma's Kat said...

They are our children right!? Yes, I too talk to them and ask them questions. I point my finger at Emma and ask her, "What did I tell you about scratching the couch, NO!" She just rubs my finger or nibbles on it! I love my Emma girl! ML, They understand more than we think! Just today... Emma and Benj want to immediatly go into the crate when I let the kittens out for a romp. They want to eat their food. Well, today I wasn't paying attention and left the door open. They proceeded straight for the food and helped themselves. I turned around and told them out! Didn't listen. Out! I said again and snapped my fingers. They both listened and went out of the crate. Good kitties I told them. Cats are so smart!

Anonymous said...

Lisa, I'm so glad you were able to find Lily. A month is a long time to be missing. And it looks like she's getting along fine with Josie. Over the years, we've had 2 cats that went missing. Never did find out what happened to Fred and Petey. And we've had 2 cats that were hit by cars. Since then, we've learned our lesson and now have indoor only cats.

I talk to my cats too. Sometimes my husband tells me to please keep quiet. Sometimes he just plain comes out and tells me to shut up, so most of the time I talk to them in my bedroom. Doesn't make any difference where I am in the house they follow me there. They know who loves them the most. Although I am getting a kick out of Frank talking to Cleo. He calls her bright eyes.

Casper sticks his tongue out at times. Sometimes he's asleep and the tongue is out. Sometimes I pull gently on it and it seems he really doesn't mind. Agree, it looks so cute to see the tongue hanging out. The rest of them don't do it.

Anonymous said...

Not only do I talk to my cats, they "talk" back to me! I constantly tell Grace what a good mother she is and how pretty her babies are. She just meows back! The babies like to talk too! They are all asleep for the moment. Cuddled up together. So cute!

Anonymous said...

Yep, Deb, mine talk back also, especially Casper. When he spots a bird or anything outside he gives quick meows and I talk back to him his way and we can continue on like that for awhile. Have no idea what I'm saying but I guess he knows. Ha.

momsbusy said...

i talk to my kitties and always have. they seem to know what i am saying to them. kimiko knows what "down" means. i can say it one time and she will listen. she ignores anyone else saying it. guess she knows who's boss. LOL i always tell my babies what i am doing or ask what they want (which is usually to be fed or babied).

as far as the rubbing thing. i heard there are scent glands located near the nail areas of their feet. this allows them to mark territory when they scratch items (like your furniture). i knew about the scent glands on their little heads. it's always so nice to know you belong to someone. i guess they have to do it often since we keep washing it off in the shower.

reckon they get frustrated w/ us washing it off? (in sad kitty voice) i thought you loved me, don't you want to be only mine???? or (kitty rolling eyes) here we go again, i just can't get my human to understand. don't wash off my scent. how will i know who you are if i can't smell me on you?

KC and the Giggleman Kitties said...

Deb, your forever cats are beautiful. Wonderful pictures. You must share them with all!
The nurses's sister said she will call tomorrow, they had a son graduating high school today.

Here's wishing a happy and safe holiday to all the Fuzz Pack...

Oscar the Puppy Cat said...

Fuzz Family,
Have a wonderful, safe holiday weekend.

Kat, thanks for bringing us together.

All big dreams aside, I hope we can all meet someday. I know a beautiful lake resort that has a fancy hotel, cottages, and even cabins. It's called Big Cedar Lodge and it's smack in the middle of the US. I think the web address is the same as the name. There's horseback riding, and all kinds of wonderful things. It's so beautful there. And close to Branson, MO so we could see a show as well. Anyway, it's a thought. Maybe in a year or so our dream of meeting will come true.

Good Night my friends.
