Mini & Moo

These two loving girls are Mini and Moo. I rescued them from an alley in Tempe, AZ about three years ago, along with their mother and three other kittens. We found homes for the rest, but I decided that Mini and Moo should stay together with me! As you can see, the sister bond is very close and I didn't want to break it! -AliCat

Good morning! Can you believe their sisters! I love that about cats, that they can come out looking so different. I guess it really boils down to the mom being a hussy(Jan, I believe that's your word). But, anyway...Mini & Moo are both pretty kitties. Is Moo the Siamese?? She looks full Siamese!! And then you have fluffy tuxedo Mini. I hope I have their names straight! AliCat, hopefully you'll come on and clarify things...tell me if I'm right.

BTW, Kim...you better check in as soon as you're up!! Ya hear! Did you get bad storms?

They are beautiful and it is great to hear a successful rescue story. Bless you for saving the family. It looks like you have a wonderful reward, though. Loving kitties!

Good Morning Kat, Good Morning All!
These two photograph so well. They look very close and the pictures you sent in are so sweet. Their story is a good one with a happy ending, that's so wonderful to hear! They're both so beautiful!

Yes Kat, still here. I haven't had a chance to watch the news to see how bad it was, but yes, we had some storms. I slept through most of them, waking occassionally. Thanks for your concern my friend.

I just saw how the Siamese is sticking her tongue out. I think it's so cute when they do that! Has anyone ever owned a Siamese? How are their tempermants. I've heard good and bad about them.

Kat, I've never owned a Siamese but have owned a Tonkinese, which is a breed that comes from a combination of Siamese and Burmese. They look similar to a apple head Siamese and have the people loving attitude of the Burmese and the wonderful intelligence of the Siamese. My was called a blue mink male(Simon Says)and my daughter has two platinum female minks. I think a pure breed Siamese can be demanding but highly entertaining. I love the look of cats with the dark points and this little girl (Moo or Mini) is beautiful. Well, they both are beautiful, of course.

Hi Mini, Hi Moo!

They are both very beautiful. Some day, I would like to adopt siblings. I love how they can be so close. The "yin-yang"-ish picture is so cute!

Mini and Moo are so cute. Love the picture of the gold eyes and the blue eyes. And love, as Donna named it, the "ying-yang" picture, great title. So glad you rescued that kitty family -- and didn't separate the sisters. They definitely have a strong bond with each other.

Oscar the Puppy Cat said...

Donna, you put it perfectly, Yin-yang! That's great!

Kat, I had a Siamese for a short time. He was such a pleasure! He was a very social cat and "talked" up a storm. We weren't able to keep him at the time but I made sure he went to a home that was ready for such a hands on kitty. His temperment was very confident and friendly.

They are beautiful, I love their names. I wonder if it is something with Siamese, about the tongue sticking out, I have seen a few pictures, and have known a couple of Siamese, and they are always sticking their tongues out...or maybe that is just a breed with no manners? LOL

Meowmepurr's Mumma said...

Oh, Siamese worry about manners--just every one elses, not theirs! When I was a small child(a loooong time ago...), my best friend had a pair of Siamese sisters. They were just like the Siamese in "Lady and the Tramp." They always sat together, in the best chair in any room, and they talked to each other constantly. You could tell they were making rude comments about the louche people!

Good Morning Fuzz Pack!! Mini looks very much like our Flumpy. These two are just beautiful--I love the first picture with their wonderful eyes showing up so well.

Yeah I guess, Mom had to be out on the town. Beautiful sisters. So different and pretty. So glad AliCat that you saved such beauties.

Casper sticks his tongue out a lot. Just wish I could get his picture when he does. He talks to me like KoKo(Ik-Ik) (The Cat Who dunnits)does when KoKo is solving mysteries. Although he does not have the loud yowl like his Mom did, thank goodness. Think I said that once before about the yowl.

Kim thank goodness you had a fairly decent night. Saw when I came on line that three died in Northern Texas on my Yahoo page. So sad.

Anyhow, I love the pictures of Mini and Moo.

Mini and Moo are sooo cute! You can just tell from the pictures how these two are joined at the hip. Glad you decided to keep them together. I can't believe they are sisters either! I never relized that kitty siblings could be so different until I started coming on here. I wish I could get another cat so Ella could have a playmate, but we just don't have the space right now.

Anonymous said...

Except, perhaps, on the bed when you're trying to sleep, 2 kitties don't take up any more space than 1 kitty :-)

I've never owned any real "talkers"--I'm not sure I would know what to do. Sometimes Maddie will talk a lot on a walk and I just hope it's because she's enjoying herself. I keep thinking I should understand but I don't :-(

How *do* you respond to a talker?

Lynn said...

GS, you're right...but since I live at home, convincing my mom is the problem. Also since Ella's been an only cat for so long I'm not sure how she'd react - she can have a bit of a jealous streak sometimes, then other times she looks so bored and lonely with me gone most of the time that I think she'd like the company, I just don't know. I was at pet smart this past weekend and they had some kittens there up for adoption they were climbing up in their cages trying to get to me when they saw me. I so wanted to take all of them home. Our house needs some work right now too so thats really why I'm not adopting one just yet. Once our house gets fixed up, I plan on having a room set aside just for the cat's, then I'll probably adopt a playmate for Ella.

OK, well, that's what I do with Maddie. I just say things like "Really?" "Oh, I know" and other such jibberish. Heck, I talk to our cats even if they're not saying anything!

Lisa, I agree with GS. Kittens require a lot of energy, time, and attention both from you and a resident cat. And being older, I doubt she wants to deal with a "pesky child". Also, introduce them *slowly*. Don't plop the newcomer in the middle of the living room. It will stress both of them out: Ella because a strange cat is suddenly in her territory; and the new kitty because it's suddenly been dropped into another cat's territory.

You would need to close the newcomer in a bedroom or something and let them hear and smell each other through the door. This introductory period could take hours or days, depending on the cats.

After bringing Wiley home, we fed Maddie and Kona treats right outside the door of Wiley's room in the hopes that they'd associate the treats (good) with the new kitty.

And, of course, lavish tons of attention on Ella to let her know she isn't being replaced. :-)

Thanks for all the tips, I was thinking an older cat would be better too. Hopefully I'll be able to adopt a "new addition" sometime this year. It's so hard to resist all those cute kittens though! Actually I had checked the paperwork I got when I adopted her and she'll actually be seven next month. I was really off on that one! I should have known thought since she's only been with us 5 yrs and I adopted her when she was almost two - duh!
Anyway when I first brought her home Ella would talk all the time now the only time she talks a lot is when I go to get her treats! She perks right up then LOL!
(can't you just tell I'm trying to avoid doing any work today?)

It's funny...I actually wasnt' even thinking about Marley being part Siamese!!! Poor Marley! I love you Marley! He's just so opposite of the Siamese from what everyone says about them!! He's 15 lbs of fluff...not thin and long like a Siamese. He's very quiet too and not at all needy. He'd rather be by himself. And he is slightly vocal, when he wants his food, but that's it! He doesn't like too much affection. He likes the occasional belly rub and chin scratch, but he rarely curls up in my lap and hates kisses. So, anyway...I would love to one day own a Siamese. I've just heard from a few people that they can be kinda moody and not very social, but it could've been the owners...who knows!

Oscar the Puppy Cat said...

Oscar has his different types of voices, too. He chirps a lot while I'm cooking. He doesn't like people food, he just likes that it's "our" special time to catch up on the day. He wakes me in the morning with two different types of meows, one says that he needs to go out and potty, one says that he'd like a little snack (I feed him at night). There are others sounds but these three are the most common. I love how cats try to interact with us vocally. It sure puts the stereotype way off base! Even the antisocial cats have their way of communicating with us.

Kat, I was wondering about Marley when you asked you initial question about the Siamese. I'm still learning about Simon but so far he's a talker, especially the more he's around everyone. Ok gotta go pick Sean up from school. See you all shortly.

GS, had something to tell or ask you but now I can't think what it was. Oh, you can look at it as that I was thinking about you and wishing you a good day! I wish all of you a good day!

These two are precious. I love that they are sisters but are so different. I suppose we humans are like that to some extent. We resemble our siblings but we are VERY different in our likes/abilities.

I think Special Ed has some siamese in him. He is quite a talker. I talk back too. I look into his eyes when I speak to him and I can tell if he's in need, feeling playful, happy, etc.. by what his eyes say. His meows, mews, purrs and chirps all say different things, but his eyes really tell me what is going on with him.

We went to the special olympics today. We were rained out so we got back onto the bus and went to the mall. Some of my students had never been to the mall. What a hoot! We had a blast. We rode the escalator...that was a treat. A couple of them were terrified, one wouldn't get on and one kept screaming, "I'm Courderoy". (The book about the bear in the department store). Too funny!

Hi meowmepurr's mom, in response to your question from yesterday, yes Loa is my mom. :o)

Emma's Kat said...

I was just thinking about different meows, as everyone was talking about, and my Emma does this funny meow. It's more like a marrowll. It's kinda long and drawn out. But, I'm almost certain, that it means paper or that she wants to play. She will do it and sometimes bring me a ball of paper she's found. Or she will do it and I'll copy her and she'll run to me and sit at my feet w/that expression like, you have paper...I'm ready to play fetch!

Karen- My Marley is pretty much antisocial with everyone but my 7 yr. old son. He sleeps w/my son on his top bunk every night. And my son is the only one who can get away w/kisses on Marley's head!

One last thing! Wasn't it yesterday we were talking about how our cats did or didn't sleep and cuddle together? I said how Benj and Emma didn't usually lay together? Well, last night they cuddled for a good hour together. Occasionally licking each other. So sweet! They had to prove me wrong!

My Munchkin who is a calico, she is a talker too, and the more you talk back to her, the more she talks, and scary as it sounds, you will eventually know what they are saying, and know what questions to ask. I still speak in English when I talk back to Munchkin, but my husband has become fluent in cat, and he responds that way, they can talk for hours.....LOL
I know Kat, I know...I owe another pic...LOL
