Sable & Nala

I'm glad to have the opportunity to share a photo of my kitten Sable with her mama, Nala. Nala was a starving, abandoned stray who came to our home in July 2005. Within a few days we realized she was pregnant. She decided to stay with us & presented us with 7 beautiful babies. We found good homes for 6 of the kittens and added Sable and Nala to our family. We have 2 other cats and 2 dogs. Hugs from Bonnie R., Okla. City, OK

Good morning! Don't forget to click on these pictures to see Sable & Nala even better! Both are so beautiful! I love Nala's huge green eyes and both have great markings/coloring. Nala looks like she could be Boca's mom, although I know you really can't even say that as...look at her real baby! They look so different. Sable obviously took after his daddy in the looks department!

What beautiful kitties! Thanks, Bonnie, for sharing them with us. Good morning everyone! However, I'm off to bed soon here in Hawaii.

Bonnie,

Your girls are absolutely beautiful, love the eyes and the serene faces. Bless you for saving Nala and finding homes for all of her kittens, including your own home. Thank you for sharing them with us.

Good Morning Fuzz Family! These two sure are a beautiful pair. It's amazing how a cat can become pregnant by more than one male. Here is the proof. They look so close and happy together. What beautiful pictures they took. Yes, thanks for sharing these pretty girls.

Bonnie, another torando alley person! We just moved from Tulsa to Arkansas. Because of my son's disability, all his specialists were in OKC at Children's. We spent so much time there that I felt that we actually LIVED in OKC!
Hello fellow Okey!

Hey Aloha...or Kim, What time would it be in Hawaii at 7:18 a.m. here in the states? Or in your case Kim 6:18? Kim, anymore bad storms? I think we're getting bad storms this evening. But all we'll get is alot of rain and thuderstorms.

Good morning everyone!
What beautiful babies we have here this morning. They are both very pretty, but Nala, wow, she has such neat markings. Sable is gorgeous too!
Oh, PS, Kat did you get the pics?

Kat, Hawaii is 5 hours behind us.

GS, emailing you right now.

Kat, Hawaii is 6 hours behind you, sorry about that.

Thanks, Kim. Riquel, yes I did get your pix. Love them!

Bonnie, these two babies are beautiful! I love the picture of Nala in the bathroom (did I get that right?). The green in the picture just so picks up her eyes.

"...2 other cats and 2 dogs...", eh? I do hope we get to meet them here and/or at Pet du Jour :-)

Bonnie what two beauties you do have. God Bless you for saving them all and taking the time in finding homes for the babies. It's heart rendering to find a starving cat or kitten on your doorstep. Nala was probably dumped because she was pregnant. Anyhow.......great ending, she has found a great home and family.

Sure hope any of you that live in Florida are not by the raging fire going on. Also hope the storms have quieted down in Oklahoma and surounding areas.

Good Morning to all fuzzies and to the fuzz pack.

GS I like your site. I think it's important to see the other pets as well as kitties.

I hit Kat's, PdJ, TDK, CuOv, K-P, SomC throughout the day :-)

Have any of you heard of "cat acne"? This was an article off of our local newspaper:
http://www.bellinghamherald.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060511/LIFE/605110327/1001/NEWS

I'd never heard of it before.

Stay safe everyone. Sheesh. I guess I'm thankful that it's so "boring" up here.

Oh, I can't believe I almost forgot!

Maddie caught a little field mouse last night. I was already in bed so Bil told me about it. She came in from the backyard making odd little noises which naturally got Bil's attention. He turned to her and saw she had a mouthful (which was why she couldn't "talk" clearly, LOL). She dropped the mouse and meowed at Bil. So Bil went to try and catch the little guy, which didn't look injured at all. Luckily the mouse ran into his shoe! It scurried to the very toe of his nicely sized 13 shoe and hunkered down. Bil took the shoe outside and put it on the porch hoping the little guy would leave. Uhn-uh. After an hour it was still there. He finally was able to shake the shoe gently but just hard enough to get it to lose its grip and then emptied it on to the ground where it ran off.

I've actually seen that on a frien's cat, but never heard of it referred to as cat "acne". Interesting article.

Emma's Kat said...

That's too funny, Donna. Go Maddie. At least she didn't kill the little guy. Bet he/she won't be coming around your yard ever again!!

WOW GS, ash? You aren't in any danger are you? I thought the fires were more in central Florida, but if you' getting ash...! I hope the wind shifts away from you! Listen too me, I hope the fires go out period! I don't want ANYONE to get hurt!

GS, I love your site too! You are on my "rounds" everyday! I think what makes you and Kat so special is that you work as a team! You both help promote each others site and you're both regulars to each others site! So kudos to you chic, you're great and so is the work you do! :)

GS

Both my daughter and i are regular visitors to your site too. We are basically "cat" people but love seeing the variety your site offers and I've posted on it in the past. I'm still trying to get a good picture of both my cats to send to both you and Kat but those little devils are camera shy-I guess I'll have to sneak up on them when they are asleep. Please both Kat and GS, know we do appreciate the joy both sites give all of us.

Yeah, California got all your rain this year GS. By the way if I send you a picture of a fawn getting a drink out of our bird bath, would that be O.K?? It was a non-touch pet for a year.

Kathleen,

Thatis so sick. If that person could not personally find a home for the cat, there are so many non-kill shelters to help. My angels are members of my family. I have adopted 3 cats from a local rescue group and all were adult cats. They fit into the family beautifully.

Emma's Kat said...

Kathleen, I agree!! What the @#$% is wrong with people like that!!!! That, as I know it does everyone, irritates me to now end. There are so many people who have pets and don't take care of them, abuse them and just don't really have that bond and care for them. I don't understand why people like that waste their time, energy and money. Why have a pet if you're not going to care for it and...Ok. I'm gonna stop. I could go on and on. But I know my fuzz pack and visitors to this site know and feel exactly the same! Irritating! Did that lady not have any heart!??

Emma's Kat said...

*no, not now!! Duhh. How come it is, that at least I do anyway, find my mistakes after I post my comment!!

Don't forget to check out the kitten on Kitten picture! She, what you can see of her, is stunning! I think it's her eyes contrasted by her white and black fur! Wow!

First off, I don't think people like the one dropping off their pet because they are moving do not love them as all of us do. We have a large property and it's getting to much work for my husband and I can't do all of it so we thought we might move into town into a mobile home park. They will only accept one or two pets. What get's me is you own the mobile and rent the space what business of it of theirs if we have inside cats. They are not going to disturb anyone. Well, we will stick it out here as long as we can because I'm not giving up on my "kids." We are all senior citizens here except for Cleo, and she is the life of the party.

O.K. GS I will send the picture, might be a little while but you will get it to you. Thought I would check with you first.

By the way Kat1, we did get what you wanted to say. Those mistakes slip up on me too. Sometime when I get them posted I reread it and sometimes it doesn't make sense. At least yours made sense.

Kathleen, I'm glad you came to this site. We were really hoping that you would. When you first posted on TDK about Shadow being sick, we felt awful! Then posted that he had passed and were all worried about you. We chatted about how we hope you would find your way here. And now here you are, a member of the family. We had you in our thoughts constantly!

Speaking of no-kill shelters, does anyone know of one in the Gulf South? One of my Mother's cats is going to need to find a home where she will be the only cat/pet. Triskit is so cute, a calico, but as she ages, she's becoming a real problem. Mom is having problems finding a shelter for her and is afraid of just putting an ad in the paper. Triskit has some real issues but is a very sweet cat. There's more but I'll stop here. Let me know if you know something. Thanks!

I was just thinking, every day we say Good Morining Ladies (sometimes we do, me included) but I bet there are men out there that check the site over. Sorry men! We're glad you're here, too!

GS, Mom's talking about the lack of rain too. They're really worried because they really need it in New Orleans. OK, I have to admit, I do tease that the last thing they need is more rain! I know, sick joke! But THE season is getting ready to start, hopefully you just get rain.

Kim, your Mom sounds like a real nice person trying to find a home instead of just putting Trisket down. I pray that she will be able to find a home that will be able to love her like your Mom does. Along with the sorrow that comes on the comments on this site as Shadow did, there is also a lot of love going out.

Kim,

I'm up in Michigan but I've adopted cats through PetSmart who works with non-kill shelters throughout the country and if there is a PetSmart near your mother's home, you might want to call and see what shelter they work with. Hope Triskit finds another loving home like your mother has provided for her.

Good afternoon all,

Hearing Kathleen's story reminded me of a story a heard on the news last night. This woman in the suburbs of Michigan had to have the humane department come to her house cause they said she had some 30 cats a couple of dogs and birds living in her house. I'm not sure of the whole story but they said she was working with some rescue agency supposedly taking care of pets but then she stopped working with them, but kept keeping all the cats in her home! There were so many animals that when they took them out, they barely had enough room in the yard for all the cages! I just could not believe it! I don't see how people can do that to animals and live like that! I just hope she gets what she deserves! Well that's my rant for the day, I just had to get that off my chest.

DUH!!! Petsmart! How could I have forgotten about Petsmart???!!!! We talk about them all the time! I feel so stupid! Why didn't I just tell Mom to call them for their shelter groups?! Sometimes it takes someone to help you see the nose on your face! Thank you ladies!!! You're all the best!

GS, I don't think Rosie is feeling well. The other day she commented more than once!!! LOL!!! Just like the old days at TDK!!! But seriously, I hope she's OK. If you call her, let us know how she's doing.

..ahem..Kat...will you make a flikr box of FB All-Stars?...you wil have to include, Jake, Jonty, the FB tabby from PDJ, Boca, and todays 2, ans Silvestre from TDK and Hunnie from TDK.....those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head.........duzza.....

Emma's Kat said...

Rosie, that's a brilliant idea!! I may just do that!

Yes, Kim and Kat, Hawaii is 6 hours behind the east coast. It's currently 12:45 and I'll be leaving for lunch soon.

GS, sorry to hear about Pierre going AWOL. Do you think you'll get him back? I once lost a parakeet who followed my Dad when he answered the door and we never saw him again. On the other hand, we took care of a wild baby spotted dove that came back every evening when we tried to set it free. He'd be waiting on the roof of the house and would land on my sister's head when she went outside. :)

It's very sad when people send their pets to the humane society. We have a lot of military families in Hawaii and they get pets for their kids. When they get transferred, if they can't find homes for them, the poor undeserving fuzz kids get sent to the pound. Our 2 dogs came from the animal shelter and our cats are all adopted strays.

My step-daughter, stationed at Hickom(?) AFB in Hawaii found a little kitten just a few weeks ago. She called us to ask what she should do. She wanted to keep it. However, she was also being sent out to Kirkuk, Iraq for temporary duty! We told her to find a good home for it. She should only get a pet when she's more settled down and can give it the time and love and attention it deserves and needs. She did--she found a home for it.

Nala and Sable are just beautiful!! The eyes on both of them!

KATHLEEN--I just looked at your Persian Rescue, such sweeties, all. I want Sassy & Lily, and the Tuxedo(to match my other 2), and the poor shaved baby and... since they don't ship, I'll meet you halfway, maybe Eureka or Crescent City...LOL...I wish I could!! I hope your prospective student was a kid, at least. Kids have to learn empathy and discretion... I know, my nieces and nephews range from 32 to 16--all 15 of them, plus various inlaws, outlaws and (yipee!!!) babies.

If that was an adult, s/he deserved to be drop-kicked out of your office!!

DONNA & BIL--your dear girl will be in my thoughts and prayers. Paul was in the AF for 8 years during Vietnam, so I have some idea of where you are. I could only be strong for him, and proud of him...

Hello Alohahelper! I'm from Kalihi, Hawaii. That's right outside of Honolulu. I'm half Hawaiian. I grew up in New Orleans but my Dad's whole family is still in Hawaii. My Grandma just turned 90 this year! Don't know why I mentioned that part.

Kathleen, you're right, SOME PEOPLE!!! Sorry that happened to you but glad you felt you could get it off your chest here. That's what we're here for.

Kat, Simon has pretty big FBs. I will get a picture as soon as he lets me take a good one! LOL!

Kim, guess what? I live in Kalihi! Right at the intersection of School Street and Likelike Highway. Small world, huh?
