Waffle

Here's our Waffle, I got him from the local shelter a few years ago. He has an attitude all his own. His favorite toys are straws and earplugs with a bread tie wrapped on it, Dont ask me why. He fetches and follows better then the dog. -Kim H.

Good morning everyone :-)

Hi Waffle! I think we'll all love that little pink tongue slightly sticking out. Got in mid-groom perhaps?

He's adorable. Not much stress there. He knows how to relax.

Waffle is too cute for words! What a lazy little ham. He is just too cute! How did he get the name Waffle?

waffle (what an original name!) must be one laid back kitty. i love it when they look like they can just plop down anywhere.kimiko seems to always have her tongue stuck out. it is so funny to see. she looks at me and can't seem to figure out why i am laughing at her. hugs to you waffle.

after i posted yuki's experience (w/ her new litter box last night) i caught her running to the new box when she heard it scooping after kimiko used it. she sat there and watched it scoop! too funny! i suppose this will be a new form of entertainment for her. scooper pooper watching!!LOL

Mom, just went back and read your comment from last night. That was a funny story. I can just see the poor kitty standing there, investigating, and then...HOLY ROWL!!! WHAT WAS THAT!!!" You told it so well!

Good Morning Everyone!!!!

Waffel is a very handsome boy, and looks like he does know how to be a cool and relax kitty. His lil tongue sticking out is adorable. Shamy does that sometimes.

Kat1 - karen C. I promise to send pics of Snowy, Pounce and Sia when i get my Outlook mail box working right.

Oh, Moms, that was a FUNNY story about the automatic scooper. I was wondering about them, and if kitties really did take to them.

I still love yah Waffels

Good Morning, Fuzz Pack.

Waffle is one cool, laid back looking dude cat, isn't he. Love those big orange cats. Love the way he just plops over.

Kat, the Flickr box is great. Debra's homeless kits are so cute and so in need of forever homes -- or even foster homes. And Momma Grace seems so elegant and serene in spite of her rowdy bunch. She is eating like a horse and still skinny -- esp after seeing Missy!

My temp is finally down to 102 today, can speak a bit. What a way to spend a birthday (yesterday).

Kat, if I can do anything to assist with finding these beautiful baby kits homes, just let me know.

What a cutie! I'm glad to see my kitty isn't the only one obsessed with straws and fetching! give him a kiss for me.

My Goodness ML!!! I didn't know you were sick! Where have I been?! I hope you feel better soon!! Down to 102?! What does the doctor say? Poor thing, if we lived closer I would check on you and give you a hand where I could. Please take care of yourself! Happy late birthday!!! I'm sorry that you were sick, maybe you'll be able to make up for it when you're feeling better!

I looked throught the pictures in the Flckr box. Those babies are just so cute.

I mentioned this on Rita's site, but I just thought I'd tell you here as well, that I posted a message to the Running list that I subscribe to asking for any Houston-area members to consider adopting one of Debra's kitties. At the least, maybe they'll help spead the word a bit.

Kim, yes I have been really sick. Started with an inflammation in a nerve in my eye. Vision in one eye is distorted and I've got like this tic. Then got a high fever and sore throat yesterday, on my birthday. Had to turn down invites to lunch and supper. Darn. Feel better today, doctor called in cough medicine. Will see her later this week if it's not better.

Thanks Donna, the runners list is a great idea. There are a lot of runners in Houston, esp at Memorial Park.

I've emailed a couple of vets offices nearby with text and photos for them to post. Hopefully, Deb's email will soon be overflowing with offers. I just love Momma Grace. Missy was the same way, picked up off the streets, 6 months old and expecting.

I think I've fallen in love with Waffle. I'd just like to pick him up and cuddle him.

ML, I hope you're all well very soon. What a bummer to come down with that stuff!

Moms, I've been thinking about getting an automatic litter box. Are you glad you did? Geoffrey is the original 'fraidy cat, and I'm wondering if it would scare him.

bluejay - yuki is a chicken about most things. she does the low rider run thru the house when the door bell rings. LOL we decided to try the new box since we couldn't keep the litter box clean enough for her and had problems with her using other areas that were not acceptable. she has excepted the new litter box and uses it with no problem. unless you count the fascination with watching the scooper. i could not believe she left me to go watch that thing scoop. even kimiko is fine with it. but she'll stay in the bathroom with me when i blow dry my hair.

happy belated birthday to you, ml!! hope you get well soon.

.....has anyone noticed that ginger cats have pink 'kitty lips' with freckles?.....................

Oscar the Puppy Cat said...

Rosie, that is so true! Oscar has freckled lips. Oh and another thing, purveyor of fb's?! Girl, you're too much!! LOL!

Just my 2 cents about the auto litter boxes...had one, kept it unplugged except a couple of times a day. Had heard "horror stories" about cats getting trapped??? Remember, I'm a cat-newbie.
Just got a regular box that's easier to maintain, the other one I just couldn't get clean, too many nooks. And Missy is larger, the auto box was a bit close for her.
This new one is just two huge pans with a removable grill, you dump the top one into the bottom pan and sift it, put the sifter in the bottom, put the clean one on top and you are ready to go. Or at least the cat is.
Love the part about Rosie the Rose using two different boxes for two different "tasks". Too cute, Kathleen.

Hey ML,
Sorry to hear you are under the weather. I am right there with you. I got sinus infection and bronchitis. I hope you are doing well. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! Even though it is belated. I was also thinking about an auto litter box. We have the four cats who all use it.

Emma's Kat said...

Rosie (fb-aholic!) - I was told with my Danny Boy (RIP) that it was an aging thing. The older they get that these freckles appear, but my Benji has them too and he's only 10 mos. old! So, definately a ginger kitty "thing". I think it's a "light colored" kitty thing, because Marley has them too.
Maybe the older they get the more freckles appear.

BTW, mini-Bagheera is eating well and even feeling well enough to play this morning!! Yeah!

.ahem....Rosie...The Speaker of the Truth........HYAK!

i am still planning on keeping one regular litter box. i thought the new box would help with yukis's tidy box issue. when i had the four cats and four boxes it was a major undertaking to keep them tidy. i believe boys tinkle more than girls. either that or they just have bigger bladders (like men). LOL couldn't clean one box without cleaning all of them at the same time. like everyone seems to have noticed as soon as they are cleaned they are no longer clean. tinkle, tinkle

Moms and ML: Thanks for the comments about the self-cleaning litter box!

Moms, it sounds like Yuki and Geoffrey are alike in some of their attitudes. (Geoffrey runs upstairs when he hears the doorbell.) Maybe my boy wouldn't mind modern automation.

The moment Waffle's picture popped up I thought of Rosie (who else) Waffle is sticking his tongue out at you. LOL.

Looks like Waffle is one big kitty. Love his face and the expressions on it. He looks like one big cuddle fluff.

ML, so sorry you are still under the weather and hope you will get well real soon. I would say HAPPY BIRTHDAY, but sounds like it wasn't to happy, but HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANYHOW!! Just take rain checks on those dinners and enjoy them when you get well.

I thought you might like to read a post from someone from the running list. He's a veterinarian from Wyoming:

------------------------
It helps to have photos of the kittens looking cute, or better yet, pathetic. We had a photo of a kitten looking thoroughly disgusted while being bathed. That one got adopted before it was dry. Kittens missing body parts; limbs, eyes or even ears, get adopted almost instantly. A photo of kittens crowded into a cooking pot got them adopted very fast. Photos of
kittens hanging from something get adopted pretty quick. Same for kittens looking angry.

Kevin O'Neall
Green River, WY
-------------------------------

Remember Vinnie from TDK? :-) He has to be close to the record number of comments for a kitten.

As hard as it is to accept, the bottom line is to find the kitties a home. If you have to play up their misfortune to do that, then so be it. I feel that I am somewhat qualified to say this because of my son. To raise money for the private, TUITION FREE school he went to, FOR HANDICAPPED CHILDREN, we, as parents did what we had to, to raise money. If this sounds awful to people, I'm sorry. Only when they're in my position will I consider what they have to say. So kuddos to the Vet who had the consideration to be honest in an attempt to help these babies with a better chance at being adopted. It's sad that it has to be this way. It's sad that we have to appeal to people's sense of guilt. There was once a day when that wasn't necessary.
I agree with Karen C, it makes me cry too. You can't help but melt when you look at Grace and her babies!

OK, off the soapbox now. Sorry, just such a sad thing. THe word is out there and hopefully there will be a happy ending!

I would like to know, as people adopt these sweet babies (and momma too!), how they found out about them. [I'm optimistic.]

Since we're trying several ways to get the word out...

Donna, I asked Debra to keep us updated. She is so excited and thankful for all the help the Fuzz pack is giving her. I'm sure she'll give us details about their adoptions, as well. I'm sure they'll get adopted! If she moves to D.C. and still has any of the kitty family left, I'll meet her half way and bring them into the rescue group I foster for...ART. I'm pretty sure they would take the momma or any of the kittens in, no problems!
