Jasper

This is Queen Metamorphic Granodiorite with Jasper Inclusions back when she appeared on The Daily Kitten and “Jasper” now.
I am such a sappy cat owner! I coo and baby talk to my girl and she clicks and mews back at me. She is a bug-eater! My house has no spiders or other crawly things since Jasper moved in. When I get home from work Jass climbs onto my shoulders for a bit of kneading and hair chewing (she does this to me not the other way around). She rides around while I start a load of laundry and run the vacuum cleaner. Okay, I confess; sometimes she stays on my shoulders when I go potty. It doesn’t bother her so I don’t let it bother me. I make her get down when I start cooking, though. It makes a lot of people laugh but Jasper is leash trained. I have a little red harness and a long red leash for her and we go out for walks almost every evening. I live in an apartment near a major thoroughfare and can’t bring myself to let her run free outside. I trust her but not the crazy drivers. Mind you, taking a cat for a walk consists largely of standing around while she explores bushes and hidey holes and the undersides of parked cars, but it seems to make her very happy to be outside so I don’t mind standing around at the end of a leash for a few hours. I carry a book just in case she finds a particularly interesting nook. Getting a cat was the best thing I’ve done for my sanity and peace. I love how affectionate Jasper is. -Jasper’s Couch a.k.a. Good morning! I remembered this kitten. What a cutie!! And such a pretty grown-up girl! Love the camera pose in the right pic! And her little black chin. Isn't it a shame her momma doesn't spoil her at all !! Just in case: I was joking!! Danielle, there might be someone(I'm hoping) else out there like me, that wouldn't get the joke:)!! Lol!

Nina - So how old is Jasper now?

Anonymous said...

Hi Nina,

Jasper is adorable and I'm glad you keep her safe on a leash, the best way for a cat to be outside anymore.

Thank you for sharing her with us.

Oh no we don't spoil our babies. HAHAHAHA Yeah right. First let me comment on how BEAUTIFUL this kittie is. That is awesome that she is leash trained. I would love my boys to be. Second Jake came home yesterday. He ate almost a WHOLE jar of baby food (chicken) mostly forced. But he did eat on his own. Then this morning I put about 1/3 of a jar into a little dish and he gobbled almost all of it up. I'M SOOOOOOOOOOO HAPPY!

Emma's Kat said...

Danielle - I cleaned up after you...lol! That is such awesome news. Eating is a good sign!

danielle said...

Thank you Kat! I am extremely excited! I think I might have a problem though. He will only eat the chicken baby food.

Emma's Kat said...

When or will he eat soft or dry cat food? Maybe try mixing the baby food w/some soft food?

I remember this beauty from TKD. She has grown even more beautiful. As you all know, I don't "spoil" my babies either -- wouldn't think of it! Well, got to go, the babies are requesting their morning massage :) !

Jasper is a beauty. She and Munchkin must be related, I call Munchkin my "parrot" cat, cause she too likes to ride around on my shoulder when I am doing things, when she was a baby, she would curl up in my hair and go to sleep. She goes with me to the bathroom too...like I've said before the things we do for our cats.... :o)

Good Morning All!!!

I, too, remember Jasper! She grew into a gorgeous cat!!!! I agree, the pose on the riht is great! She's a very pretty Cali!

Danielle, it's great that Jake is home and eating. Baby food gets expensive so try what Kat suggested and start mixing it with soft. You may have a gourmet on your hands though! LOL! Give him lots of love from us!

Me, spoil my kitties? Goodness no, why on earth would I do that? Snicker, I mean really, they're just cats! Snort, hee hee!
OK, I'm dying right now!!! Of course my babies are spoiled, they haveme so well trained it's not even funny!!!!

Well I think for a short while I am going to do just baby food. Then slowly mix in the dry. He refuses to eat wet food. So I think it might be more difficult. I am still force feeding though. So it wil probably be a while before I can introduce the dry mixture. Dumb question. Can I grind up the food and do it that way?

Emma's Kat said...

Not a dumb question! Pretty good idea actually! It's worth a try Danielle! I would try doing that. Good luck! Jakey, you be good and eat, so you can grow strong!!

momsbusy said...

danielle - keep in mind he really hasn't eaten any solid food for awhile. introduce slowly by grinding it up and adding just a bit in the baby food for a day or two and gradually adding more. give his body time to adjust. he has been through alot and needs to build up to his old eating habits. if he refuses the added ground up dry then let him eat plain baby food. eventually he will take the added dry or may even want it plain (the dry) w/out the baby food. hope this helps. kittys will always let you know if they approve of your bedside manner or not. glad jake is eating. always a good sign. keeping you and jake in my prayers. head butts, purrs and hugs to you jake. listen to mommy and get better!

jasper - you have grown up to be such a pretty kitty. love your little goatee. rosie is going to love your fb's. they look to be DD's! i am partial to calico's and you are a beauty. stay sweet and keep mommy out of trouble when you take her for your walks.

I LOVE calicos!! Jasper is just beautiful!

I hope everyone is feeling well this morning. DANIELLE, all the advise you are getting on Jake's feeding is good; however, since you will be going to the vet anyway, check the ideas out with him/her. My brother-in-law thought he was doing a "good thing," he mixed a little bacon grease in the prescription food for Patche$ to get her to eat. The problem-with kidney failure, she's supposed to have a "fat-free" diet!!

Of course we don't spoil our fuzz-babies!! That's why Paul says his main occupation is being "heated kitty furniture!" Meepsie is a shoulder cat too, but she only rides on her Daddy.

I'm off to the vet today too, with Shep the Dog. He has a couple of lumps that his vet said were just "old dog lumps," but one of them has gotten icky. At least he doesn't scream at the top of his lungs all the way there and back(25 mile round trip)!! I'll report later-if STUPID BLOGGER will let me!

Jasper is a pretty kitty! My Manny might have a crush! I am jealous that she is leash trained, I would love if I could do that with Manny.

Kat, I just got the pictures of Grace and the babies in their new forever home! How wonderful it was to see them there, I am so happy I almost cried, Grace seems to have taken to Austen. I am so excited. I know everyone has been saying for days that they had a forever home, but until I saw the pics I didn't believe it. Grace and Co. seem to have adopted a wonderful family and seem very happy. I hope we will hear more about them as time goes on. So happy! :o)

Loa,
What kind of vitamins? I am going to the vets tonight will they have them? He is just starting to eat on his own (very little)

I have a new blog. Go to venter's blog and there is a link called stupid trivia. I am going to try this out. Something for fun.

Jasper, you are a very pretty baby. I just love her color markings.
I don't think any of us spoil are fuzz childrens, yeah right.

Danielle, i'm glad to hear Jake is home now, even thought trips to the vet are required.
Taps, is on the baby food diet, and gets a lil picky on me as well.He will normaly eat. chicky, lamb, veal, beef, and turkey, and when i give him a special treat ham." I know ham's not good for him." But, there are times that he doesn't want those flavors. He takes NU-Cat vitamins. It makes up what he's not getting from regular kitty food.

What a doll!!! Can I borrow her for my spider problem?? My cats just seem to play with them more than getting rid of them!!! Jasper sounds like she has lots of character!

Hello Jasper. What a cute cat, and leash trained! Yes I wish I could teach my Bubbles to walk on a leash. But he even hates a collar, so I don't think he will tolerate a leash.

danielle said...

Yeah people are answering the question!

I really like this kitty. She's so cute. The expression is priceless.

Well, where I am, in Michigan it is a rainy, dark day and at this point I wish I was one of my cats and could curl up and take a cat nap. Work is slow right now too, so the time goes slowly. Hope others are having a more energetic day. I am very happy that Jake is home though.

Claire- My dad is from Michigan! I couldn't tell you exactly what part :(, sorry. I'll have to ask him. We used to take vacation there all the time. We stayed at my Uncle Tom's and I always had a blast there! He always had chickens, cows, pigs, dogs and kitties! Brings back great memories! Okay! I'll stop reminising(sp?) now. Hopefully tomorrow will be sunny for you. I had a day like you last week. I even asked my kitty, Emma if I could trade spots w/her. Would she go cook dinner, bathe the kids, etc. I think she would've if she could've. I love my girl! Anyway, the end of the day will be here soon!

danielle said...

Well go walking through the park and ren=menising.
I have a cat named.....Casper (not as cute as Monica's) when you go to pick her up she goes straight to the shoulders. You can't just hold her unless you want scratches.

Hello FuZZ Family!

Nina, Jasper sounds like he has such a strong purrsonality! Person in a Cat Suit, I usually dub such cats - which, actually accounts for ALL our FuZZes! My Emily will weave in and out of my legs while I'm on the potty, and insist on a chin scratch. While she leans into it, I find myself ummm...well, not in a seated position, which is when she'll accept base of tail scratches!! Like the photo in Kat's Korner - Cattitude is Everything!

I wonder if the speed - or lack of it these past few days - of Blogger has anything to do with Yahoo?? For some reason, I'd gotten in the habit going to My Yahoo then visiting the sites, and Yahoo's been messed up for months about TDK (someone questioned it in yesterday's TDK). I stayed on my homepage today, and Blogger seems a bit more cooperative...

Deb and Kat, THANK YOU for forwarding me the pics of Grace and the twins in their new home...Grace had such a big Smile on her face =^..^= !! And I can see even through the pics that the young boy handles the kits very gently...what a great furrever home!! Debra, your daughters are just Stunning!

Danielle, it's so Good to hear Jake is regaining his appetite!
I had a cat who had some sort of gastric thing going on, and after it settled down, he would eat baby food, like in your experience, first force-fed and then hearing-the-jar-open-come-running-with-enthusiasm appetite. My vet told me to feed him PetKalorie, it's like a tube of peanut butter-consistency with nutrients and calories...

I feel boring today...so sorry!
It's my favorite weather out today, chilly and raining, so I'll sign off for now... Chat later...

Jasper is a real little beauty. I think it's wonderful that you cantake her out for walks! She must be great company. I wish I could take Geoffrey out in the garden on a leash, but I know him too well to try it.

Daniellw, I'm so glad Jake is eating! Everyone has come through with good advice, so the only thing I have to add is something the vet told me the last time I had a kitty who didn't want to eat. That was to let him have anything he liked, just to get some nourishment into him so that he'd get stronger. (He had lost weight.) You could see what your vet thinks about that.

Of course, I would never spoil a cat - unless the cat expected me to.

Must have been another senior moment. I forgot to mention a website I found by accident:

www.bagheera.com

Yes, Gheeri's Servant should take special note, but probably all of the Fuzz Fans would like it. It's about endangered species.

OOOH! I'd better just go home! Danielle, I'm sorry for mistyping your name.

Honestly, there ARE days when I'm functional.

Lynn said...

Claire I'm in Michigan too. It is just miserable here today. It doesn't make it any better that I got a head cold right now too. I'm stuck at work and all I can think about is going home and climbing into bed. My boss wants me to do some cold calling to try to get some more business in and I'm too stuffy to talk on the phone :-( So it just one of those days for me. At least I have adorable little Jasper to look at. She's a real cutie!
Oh and Danielle its good to hear that Jake is doing better. I hope he continues to improve.

Hi Kat and Lisa S.

I live in Wixom, which is a suburb about 30 miles outside of Detroit. I've lived in Michigan for almost 60 years but within a few years, my husband and I hope to retire outside of Knoxville, TN. Love the climate and the scenery. Lisa S., where are you? Kat, ask where your father is from. It really is a small world. My husband and I have two classic cars and when we aren't spoiling our cats, we are cruisin' when Michigan weather allows. Hope the move to Tennessee will allow for more cruising weather.

Well what do you know. I can post finally. Jasper you are just as pretty now as when you were a yungin. Right now you sound like that you are a kitten in a cat's body. That's what I say to Cleo, she is a kitten cat. I think it's neat taking a cat for a walk on a leash. I also think it's really neat that she isn't afraid of the noises when you walk her. All cats in this house head for under the beds when we get company. Casper will venture out after awhile but not the others.

What are you girls talking about??? Who spoils their cats?? We don't do things like that...........do we???? Well, maybe just a little.

Danielle I think since the vet pulled Jake through so much, he should have the last word on what he eats. Check with him when you see him. Sounds like good advice given in the comments though. I'm so thankful to hear that Jake is doing so much better.

Wow, finally we can get on! Blogger was down and doing maintenance(sp?), so hopefully...maybe they are in working order now! ML, hope all is well w/Missy! We haven't heard from you all day! Rosie also said she hasn't been able to get on blogger sites at all! Well, I'm outta here for the night! Goodnight from VA!

YIPPEE!! The Blog is working. Needed a "fix"! Grace, Foster & Pete are doing great. I talked to their Mommy and they are getting so much love and attention. Grace already rules the house.

Rose: Brutus finally ate "big boy style"--out of a plate, so no more syringe feeding. He is doing great! Marigold still likes the syringe feeding, but she is gaining weight. She also did "poo" in the big girl potty! I am so proud! Sorry I didn't get a chance to call today. Crazy around here! I'll try for tomorrow, if I can talk -- having a root canal in the morning. Such fun!

claire, i just spent two nights in knoxville. really big city. little much for me w/ all the construction on i-40. they have been working on it for quite a few years. the scenery in tenn. is breathtaking. just beautiful. perhaps after you retire there i can stop by and meet the kitties (and you of course). also what types of cars do you have. i recently retired from 23 years as a seamstress in an upholstery and trim shop. we did alot of custom work on cars. i've seen some really nice cruisers and street rods. my husband is into drag racing. we used to like street rods but as we have gotten older we prefer the creature comforts.

Hi Nina,
With all the problems via Blogger yeaterday, I totally neglected to to mention Jasper! I Distinctly remember her and her "given" name on TDK, but she's grown into an exquisitely beautiful Lady Cat!
Don't you wish the kitten days could've been a bit longer? But you HAVE to be proud of the Beauty she is today! Thanks for sharing her with us!
