Kat's Korner >^..^<

In my house lives a cat who is a curmudgeon and cantankerous, a cat who is charming and convivial, and a cat who is combative and commendable. And yet I have but one cat. - Dave Edwards

**In the Flickr box today...Sleepy Kitties! I don't think I need to explain, do I?!**

Thanks to Bluejay for finding this great pic!! I love it! And, I know I'm not the only one who had to look up a couple words in the dictionary this morning! (from quote!)

Thank you Kat1 for leaving Grace's info up. You are terrific. ML is supposed to come over today & visit. Grace & company are excited!

Love the quote and the picture...can't wait to see Grace & Family. Although, due to a cantankerous hubby, the family has graciously agreed to come to me! Yeah!!!

ML, Deb, I'm so excited that you get to meet!!!!!

Oh, Fuzz Pack,my heart is broken.
Grace is the most beautiful, snuggly little cat ever. She is so delightful and she liked me!!! It's just like we were meant for each other.
Unfortunately, when we allowed Missy in the room, all heck broke loose. There is a pile of smokey fur and a pile of orange fur where the two met.
Remember, Missy is mainly Charley's cat, she snubs me. She doesn't like to be touched, she doesn't purr, she will make contact with Charley.
So I guess the other Marilynn is going to be very, very lucky.
My heart is just broken!

ML--I so enjoyed meeting you & Charley (Missy & Bear too). I'm so sorry that Missy & Grace didn't get along. Grace is just very protective of her kittens & Miss is very protective of her humans :). Missy is a beautiful kitty & I'm in love with Bear -- such a beautiful poodle!! Thank you so much for everything! Fuzz Packers Rule!!

Deb - I did enjoy so much meeting you and your two beautiful, intelligent, adorable daughters.
I don't feel much like talking right now, just feel crushed.
Even Charley said he prefers Gracie to Missy. And Missy is affectionate with Charley, but still very aloof and hissy.
About the best we have gotten from Missy is people going on and on about how beautiful she is. But she is very cool and distant, we just keep thinking she will come out of it. Then to see a cat as loving and sweet as Gracie, and what a cat could be, it's just too much. I don't know, just feel crushed and like crying.
But I am glad to have met the beautiful kitty family you rescued. Wouldn't have missed it for anything.

Mary Lynn - Don't base everything on one meeting. Midnight, Grr and Cocoa are all from the same litter and were living together under the junk car. We caught Midnight and Cocoa first, and Grr two days later. When we got Grr home, she not only grrr'd at us, but at her brother and sisiter. Plus, she hissed at them like they were total strangers. It took a few days before she felt comfortable again. Cats get scared in new situations, especially cats with kittens. I have never seen two cats run up to each other and love each other instantly. Maybe it's happened, but I've never seen it. Ask anyone who fosters. You can't just put them together right away and expect good things. My grandmother took in any stray that came her way, and there was always a period of adjustment, but in the end, everybody got along just fine. If Grace like you, wait till her kittens have homes, then try it again. A kittenless mama will act differently toward other cats. You don't want to miss out on the pleasure of a loving lap cat. Midnight and Cocoa are all over me all the time, but not Grr. Grr loves my daughter and allows me to serve her. She's asked me for a little petting on 3 occasions in almost a year. I get a thrill when she puts two paws on me and looks at me like she's trying to figure out whether or not I'm good enough for her. Then the big, beautiful barrel on legs waddles off and goes to my daughter. :SIGH: You need to try again. It could work. Give Missy a chance. If a strange lady and her four bouncy kids walked unexpectedly into my house right now, I'd freak out too.

Karen, thanks so much. You are too good. I'm laughing while I'm still crying. Not easy.
Get back to you all later...thanks so much.

I just noticed I made 2 typos. I'm going to obsess about that all day - not even kidding.

ML--I'm so sorry that you are feeling bad. Grace & company send meows to you and Grace says that she is sorry about her conduct with Missy. By the way, Charley is a doll, loved him! Quite handsome too!

ML (Mary Lynn) said...

Deb, Gracie has absolutely nothing to apologize for. Her kittens were in there, she was protecting them. I think Missy does have some issues from before we got her. It's a long story. Is Gracie okay? Missy probably outweighs her by 10 pounds. That "little Momma" is a fierce little fighter.

ML, Grace is fine. She is just sorry that she can't live with you. We all enjoyed meeting you & Charley very much. Bear is a cutie and Missy is beautiful. She just likes being an only cat! She gets to rule the house that way!

HELP! The kittens are doing just fine with weaning, but Grace just meows all the time. What can I do to soothe her? Fuzz Pack -- any suggestions.

Forgot this update. Tomorrow I am taking Grace to her "maybe forever home" with Marylynn who lives in Spring, TX. She is very interested in adopting Grace. Her grandson wants to adopt Foster & Pete . Marigold & Brutus should be ready to fly to Rose by the weekend. WE DID IT FUZZ PACK!! I can't thank you all enough for your support!

Emma's Kat said...

Deb, The kittens are still w/her, right? She might just be a vocal kitty. She could be coming into season again. How old are the kits now? She could be wanting more attention from you. Could be a number of things. Give us somemore details. Shouldn't be anything to do w/the kittens eating more and nursing less. I wouldn't think so at least.

Emma's Kat said...

Such great news!! Is the grandson a definate adoptee??

Deb said...

Hi! The kittens are now 8 weeks old. I think the grandson really wants the boys. I'm taking Grace, Pete & Foster out to Marylynn's house tomorrow afternoon -- nice lady from Spring. I've been giving Grace attention all morning. She loves it. I think she just misses her babies. I have them separated due to the fact that Grace is on antibiotics for a slight tummy problem. The vet didn't want to take the chance that the babies would nurse while Grace was on this antibiotic. So, maybe just a lot of attention focused on Grace? Thanks for the help!

ML's cat Missy is in the hospital. ATTENTION FUZZ FAMILY: Apparently when Missy and Grace had their "cat fight", Missy was hurt. I feel horrible about this! ML please call me. Fuzz Family please pray for Missy's recovery! AHHHH -- I don't know what to do --- guilt, guilt!! Grace didn't mean to hurt Missy, she was just in protective mommy mode!

Emma's Kat said...

Deb, Don't feel so bad! It was definately just momma protecting her kittens. If the kittens weren't in the picture, it probably would've been a whole different story! She was just doing her job as a mommy. It does stink for poor Missy, but she will be just fine, I'm sure!

(Deb, just FYI, you don't have to post in both spots. Kat's Korner is more or less just to post my quote of the day and any interesting info, ie Gracie & kits. Most everyone reads the top 1st anyway. No worries, just thought I'd save you some typing!:))

Deb said...

Thanks Kat! I'm so glad that Missy is home. I hope that she continues to improve!

ML (Mary Lynn) said...

BTW, one thing Deb hasn't mentioned is how rare it is for a female cat to be orange. We were talking about while playing with the kittens. Rose, your Marigold is a treasure in more ways than one. And Momma Gracie is very rare as well. Someone told me back when I researching cats they call a male calico or a female orange a "money cat". Cause it's so rare. Maybe some of the Fuzz Pack cat experts know about this.

HELLO FUZZ FAMILY! Sorry it has taken me so long to post, but I just got home. Wow, did I have a day! Started with problems with my mom (she has Alzheimers & is in a nursing home)at 6:00 a.m. Took care of that, got back home around 1:30 and gathered up Grace, Pete & Foster, their "things" & my daughters. Went to Spring, TX -- about a 45 minute drive. Met Marilynn Smith, her daughter, grandsons & grand-daughter. The most charming, sweet family I have ever met. Grace LOVES her new mommy -- Marilynn! She is being given the "royal" treatment! As she should! Pete & Foster were "surprises" for the oldest grandson (13 1/2) Austen -- he has had their pics posted on his computer for a while. I was so impressed with Austen & his brother Parker. Very gentle with the kitties! Love the men who love cats! The grand-daughter, Kiera, is 5. Such a beauty! She was having such fun with the kitties! I felt so wonderful leaving them because I knew that they were in their "forever" homes! The only tears I shed were tears of happiness for them. I do miss them, but I KNOW that they are where they belong.

Rose: Marigold & Brutus are doing great! I'll give you a call tomorrow!

ML, I'm so glad that Missy is doing better!

MEOWS, PURRS, AND LOTS OF LOVE FROM THE TAYLOR "CAT" HOUSE TO EVERYONE! THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!!

p.s. I'm sending new pics of the kitties with their new humans!
