Oskar

Oskar is approximately 15 yrs.old and weighs almost 17 lbs. At his heaviest, he weighed 23!!! Several years ago, he lost a lot of weight, and we found out he has hyperthyroidism. He takes his meds like a good boy 2x a day, slipped right into a treat so he doesn't even know! He has a great purrsonality and is very friendly with all people and all the other cats. He's the oldest of the house, so he acts like the king! He's extremely affectionate and loving and likes to be the center of attention whenever anyone comes over. He has an usual meow, which earned him the nickname "Ack"! ~ Jessica >^..^<

**Ok, Kim ! This is the kitty I was talking to Jess about the other day and said you'd just have to wait to see!! Everyone check out this post!!**

**Don't forget to stop by the Modulator for Friday Ark!! And yet another Carnival of the Cats will be coming this Sunday, as well!**

Oh he is soooo cute. Look he is asking for a belly rub! I would gladly do it. He is the king at 17 years young.

Good morning! First of all, Wow, the resemblence is uncanny in my opinion! Oskar w/a "k" and Kim's Oscar. Even the pose is the same! Too funny! Oskar you are a cutie and I love the one leg up in the air! Your a handsome boy!

Fuzz Pack - I don't know how much of me you'll see today. Right before I went to bed I started w/a sore throat. A bad sore throat! It was like...*bam*...it just hit me. And I woke up early feeling like I was swallowing glass and my ears feel funny, SO....I'm probably gonna visit the good ole Doc! Anyhoo, noone can seem to get well without another getting sick. We're passing the sick torch! lol

Oskar is a very handsome boy, looks like King of the house and what a great pose. He is a very stately gentleman. Love the "rub my tummy" pose too.

Hi Fuzz Pack,
TGIF and all that.
We got hit by lightning last night about midnight. Burned out the A/C. The whole place smells like burning insulation. They got us put in a new temporary place until the repairs are finished. Had to go have a breathing treatment a few minutes ago, am doing much better. Missy and Bear are in the new quarters, also, like little troopers. Will be away most of the day, just wanted to let you all know.

Hope everyone is feeling good, hope Deb starts to feel better.

I'm reading about HTML and database programming while I am away. Keeps me busy.

I just went to that site OH MY GOD I got chills running through my body. That was so cool. That guy was just awesome. I wonder if it is really true.

I think Oscar is very handsome, but that is because he is a ginger like me! I can only imagine the expense it is for his human to provide for his medications due to his hyperthyroidism. Blessings to whomever is taking care of this old chap at the moment.

Okay, is this the same Oscar as the one in the link? I'm thinking not, because of the difference in names. After that, it's hard to tell. Wow. I love both Oskar and Oscar.

I LOVE the pose of Oskar on his back. Love to see cats sleep and relax. He is a huge beauty. Now all we need is an audio file so when we click on his pictures, we can hear his unusual meow.

Wouldn't that be neat? (My next project -- actually, it is very easy to include sound bites on a blog, well, anything).

Thank you, Deb, you are so sweet. Fortunately, it is fixed now (we think, fingers crossed...!). It burned the whole insides of the AC. It's cooling down in here, slowly. I had a breathing treatment, then meds, and spent the past few hours sound asleep on my yoga mat a few doors away.

Missy is just great, she was born to travel. She loves her carrier. She finally curled up by me (YES!) on the yoga mat.

Nope, it's not fixed, Charley just put another call in. Sigh. But it is simi-cool and I can always leave again.

Trying to catch up. Monica, did you get bitten by a spider? And Kat is sick? And Deb, more shots? If it's this rain, we're supposed to have even more of it this afternoon.

Zeus, you are also a very handsome and stately fellow. Love your very "wise" face-just like the ancient for whom you are named.

Hey everyone! Am still not feeling well. Low grade temp and my throat is better now. I took Advil a couple hours ago and slept, so I think it's the Advil helping.

ML - So sorry I missed your emails this morning! More importantly, I'm so glad you and the fam are okay! I opened the first email and I was really worried!! The I saw that you were okay and I came here and again, glad all is well. And to hear Missy is staying close watching over her momma...So cool! What an experience! One you won't want to repeat, huh?!

KarenC. - Yes, this Oskar is part of Jess's clan of 11. I'm going to check out the site you suggested now.

Emma's Kat said...

Oh, and ML - This Oskar belongs to Jess and the other Oscar belongs to Kim. Wild how they have the same name and look so similar!

Where is Kim, btw!!??

.....I love the picture on the right and you all know why....Ack?.
HYAK!!..........

Ok, I just got back from the doc and he didn't even do a strep test. He said there was no doubt that I had strep! Yikes! I haven't had strep since I was little!

KarenC. - I definately think she might remember the tail incident and pick up on your disliking the person! Also, I firmly believe, they can sense when a person isn't nice or maybe dislikes animals. They know there's something wrong.

Hi my FuZZ friends!

You know, my mother always said since they started with Sputnik and all the rockets, every launch stirred up trouble. Momma was a smart little 1st generation Italian-American...

Kat, be careful with Strep, take care of yourself! Get plenty of bedrest, whenever you can, ok?
(o.k. I'm 2nd generaton Italian, I worry, it's in my heritage...)
speaking of which...

ML hope all's getting back to a sense of normalcy. My gosh, if that happened to me, the babies I'm sure would ride with the punches, but Emily wouldn't be as cool about it as Missy. Missy, good for you, being the Brave Girl for your mommy! Like Deb said, Kitty Therapy. Nothin' like it!

Karen, I think Kat's right. Emily likes people as a rule, but today I had to meet with this lady-former co-worker of David's,whom I DISPISE!!. She bred Bengals as a hobby, not for show or to better the breed, just for kicks...and Emily stays far away from her. The Young Royals wouldn't go near her, which I though hilarious! Another woman was with her, very sweet young lady, and both Brutus and Marigold were all over her, Brutus eventually falling asleep on her lap! But they turned away from Betty! Yeah, they know in that feline intuition way of theirs, they must. It's so uncanny, isn't it?
p.s. hope you found the clove oil.
I'm looking for it, too. And the bit deb said about covering the tooth with sugarless gum to keep food particles out the cavity was ingenious! I'm definately trying that! Thanks, Deb!

Oskar could be distant relation to the Young Royals! Love your nickname, Oskar, "Ack" back at ya!
Must kiss that belly!!!

I know I must have missed something, but how's Kim? Miss her...

later, y'all...

Hi Oskar, I really like the way you are marked with your coloring. You sure looked relaxed in the pic on the right. Cleo likes to sleep like that. So glad you are a good boy and take your meds.

Actually I don't know what bit me. Guess it could have been a spider, no seeums, mosquito. I put some Bactine on it and it stopped itching for awhile. Today it didn't bother me all that much. Could have been a flea, but I don't see any of the animals scratching all that much. It is a small red circle and it is not raised very much. Oh well, it will go away.

ML. Gosh, I bet that was really scary when the lightening hit your house. Sure hope your A/C will be fixed real soon. Hope you are feeling better and hope Charley is doing O.K. also. ML do you by chance use Advair?? It sure does really good for my breathing. Don't think I could live without it now.

Gosh Deb, sure don't know how you live with migraines. Frank gets bad headaches quite often, don't know if they are migraines or not. I had a headache once that had me barfing and I sure didn't want to move a muscle. Sure hope those new shots work for you also.

Kat, hope you get well real soon. Prayers going up for all fuzzies and fuzz pack.

Sorry I couldn't get on earlier. Got home from the library and turned around and went with Frank to get the heart monitor off. Traveled 140 miles today.

Sure do hope you don't mind a long post but Amber is a mystery doggy. The second vet I took her too co-incided with the other vet and said no tumor, infection, and etc. Back to square one. She is doing fine and seems to have some good energy, so right now I'm just going to love and hug her.

Oh gross, on the news just now said someone cut off the ears of some dog in Oroville while he was in his own back yard. He had to have surgery to fix the ears. The humane society has put a $1000 reward to someone who can identify the person who did it. What is this world coming to???

People are so cruel! It sickens me to think that someone could do that to a living breathing creature! People like that become murders and rapists when the grow up! Or already are! Sad!!

Kat, strep is nothing to take lightly. Has Dr. Deb recommended anything? Glad to hear you got some rest, now just watch those late night computer sessions!

Deb, glad to hear you are feeling a bit better. Your idea about the sugarless gum is brillant. And the clove oil, remember using that as a child. I love the smell.

Karen, you can't fool a cat. They know what people are like. I would never trust anyone Missy didn't like. Period.

Rose, didn't realize you are Italian-American. I am third generation and yes, I worry, too. I remember stuff my grandmother, who was born in Sicily, used to say. She was so smart, wish I had written it down.

Monica, very glad to hear about Amber. Hope that bite is better. I use comfrey hydrosol minor bites. It cleans them and is so soothing.

About a year ago, I had a severe skin/scalp problem. Doctor gave me steriod meds, steriod shampoos, etc. Cost a fortune, but didn't work. Out of desperation bought shampoo made with mint, rosemary and tea tree oil, rosemary vinegar rinse (ugh, the smell) and rosemary hydrosol. Cleared it up in about a week! No kidding. Even my doctor asked what I did.

Well, they got the A/C fixed, the house is aired out, burning insulation has a terrible odor. That lightning was startling. I was on the computer (of course) and just saw a blinding flash. Missy went straight up in the air, her hair was standing up all over. Then, it seemed like minutes, was this deafening thunder. I didn't notice the a/c was off, but about five minutes later Charley gets up and asks if I'm cooking (meaning he smelled something burning!!!!).

Missy is such a great cat, cannot get over how adaptable she is. If she is in her kitty carrier (blue canvas with mesh windows and flaps), she's a happy camper. She sleeps in it at home, too.

This post probably makes up for a few days worth!

Gosh ML, it's a wonder the lightening didn't fry your computer also. When we have a storm go through I turn mine off.

My Dad's dog was so friendly to every one except this one guy. He could not go in the back yard because Dad was afraid King would attack him. Guess when an animal doesn't like someone guess we ought to be leary of them also. So Rose, guess Emily picked up on you not liking your co-worker or she didn't like her herself. Rose checked your blog site, liked it, your doing a good job with it. I was going to make a comment but alas I have to have a blogger too, to post.

Good night everyone.

I have a power backup on the computers, if we lose power, which happens a lot here near the coast, it will go for about an hour. It also keeps the current level, no dipping or spiking.

A few years ago lightning hit the roof, zapped along the wall to the computer and fried the modem. That scared me so badly I bought a power backup. We have lots of intense, fast little storms here, that can kill a tv or computer.

I love Glenbrook Farms in FL. They sell a variety of organic herbs and spices, very reasonable prices. Here is the website: http://www.glenbrookfarm.com/herbs/. The owner has a number of interesting, informative articles as well. And there are lots of recipes, info on this site.

Gail just informed me that we missed Oskar being the featured cat! i have been SO busy this past week, so i haven't been able to check the site every day.

Oskar sends a big ACK out to everyone for the sweet comments, including Zeus!

(Zeus looks like a cool dude too)

Osk really is a love bug and loves tummy rubs. the second pic is his yoga relaxation pose! lol.

it is funny how much he resembles the other Oscar and how they even pose the same! he is one of the 11 here, and i've had him about 8 yrs.or so now.
