Mittens

Hello, my name is Mittens Pollypaws. I got my name because I have huge feet, I am a polydactyl. I have extra toes on my back feet too, but they are up high on my back legs. I tend to be a little on the clumsy side, but you would be too with big feet!!! My meowmie was doing volunteer work at our local animal shelter in Sept. of 2000 when I was brought in. I was so timid and afraid that I hid under my bedding all the time and growled at everyone. She knew that nobody would adopt me cause there was all these cute little kittens that purred and played and didn't hide. One day she came with a big metal thing and put me in it and off we went in her car. She knew I had already been spayed, but took me to the vet for a good physical at which time the vet said I was between 6 and 7 years old. I still growl when I don't like something, but I am a big sweetheart. -Toni

Good morning! Mittens, you're beautiful just like your sister Patches! Such beautiful markings! And those mittens of yours! What a great picture showing them off! And for anyone who doesn't know the Calico Girls, you should go visit their beautiful site!

Riquel - Have you been sick? Hope all is well!

Kim - Good luck today!

Hope everyone else is well and having a good morning!

These are great pictures of Mittens! She's a very pretty cat. Toni, I do the same thing when I rescue a cat, I like the ones I think won't find a home. They turn out to be the best, even if it takes them time to trust us! It took my Arthur (RIP) almost four years to become trusting and loveable to people other than my husband and me. Time and understanding is what it takes. You've done a great job with the precious, beautiful girl!

Thanks Kat. I'll be leaving in 15 minutes. Hopefully I won't be gone more than an hour. I say hopefully because I'll have Princess with me.

Loa, did you get my last message? I'm going to move and not tell you where I'm going, you're going to be stuck with the brats! HAHA!!! Or should I say MUhahahaha!

I will ask my sponsor for the rescue group I foster for, she knows alot. Does she urinate in the box? Is she just pooing outside the box? Or both? Hmmmm... We'll get to the bottom of this! ;)

miss mitten polypaws you are truly a lady of good upbringing. you sit so pretty with your legs crossed in the proper way. your little white paws peek out from the fuzzy hair on your long legs. you could be a supermodel. perhaps you could get together with karen c's supermodel kitty.

Just found your blog, because of the name through 2996. Love the cat pictures and comments. We (my husband really has it) have a blog and I have started posting cat cartoons of our two, he has generously posted them. Your blog helps me not feel entirely pathetic, they are wonderful aren't they? Here's the link for the start of the cartoons, they will be every Tuesday.

Kathleen - no expert, but two suggesions: 1. When you pick her poop off the floor, put it in the box. That reminds her, "this is where it goes."
2. Never tried it, but there's a litter called Cat Attract that is supposed to live up to its name. On the other paw, cats don't like sudden changes in litter type. CATch 22!
Did you clean the litter box itself to remove odor? Diluted bleach was suggested somewhere. Continue to be patient and forgiving. VT's Mom

What a funny face I have never seen a cat with a black nose and half of the face "red". Beautiful eyes too. Cat patterns are sometimes full of phantasy !

.....maybe my namesake is still pissed-off(ahem) because some parts of the house still smell like Cairo....maybe it's psychological and you need to buy a new litter box all together..although it is wasted money, it might be worth parting with the $5-$10 in the long run....DISCUSS........
