Polar Bear

Yes... I really was born completely white (March 20th, 1999). In a short time though, my dark points started to surface. My human Mommy says, she loves my "Ragdoll" look, and the way my blue eyes sparkle. My mother is a beautiful tuxedo cat named Minkly! Now that I have grown up, my "Daddy" says I have a "coat of many colors." I am very feminine and, although I am very shy, I love being combed and fluffed because I like being pretty!I like to pose for the camera, and although I still have to be coaxed a bit to socialize as I should (the shy thing), I do enjoy playing with my brothers, Panther and BeBop. - Bari

She is beautiful. From her baby pics, it doesn't look like she would turn out to be so colorful. What a beauty!

Oh my, I am enthalled by your beautiful girl. I never thought I would like to have anything other than shorthaired cats, until I got a tabby/maine coon mix and discovered that I love to groom her. Then I got a medium hair ginger boy and now I moon for a ragdoll, but for the moment, 4 little fur balls is enough.
Thanks for sharing your pix.

OMGosh! This cat is absolutely gorgeous!! I'm speechless!! Her baby pic is so misleading as to the adult she would become. He eyes are exotic and intense! Her personality seems to fit her. Thank you so much for sharing her!!!

Good Morning Fuzzies! Much to do today so as usual with the vacation, I probably won't be back on today. I wanted to wish you all a wonderful day and weekend! Still waiting to hear word about Rex, I hope he's doing well. Sorry to hear the C and R are still not getting along well. ML, I loved the pics of KC and MBE! MBE and Casper would have had the most amazing kittens!!!

Good morning! I'm late commenting this morning, because I had to do my tagging for the 5 Weird Habits game! It was really hard to find kitties not tagged! Anyway!!

PBear - You are like Kim said, the most gorgeous kitty! It's amazing how your color filled in as you got older! My Marley is a Siamese mix and his flame points filled in to a darker orange, but he did have flame points. Well, actually he was 3 mos. old when we adopted him, so I wonder...I too have never owned a long haired kitty, Mug. We fostered a kitty named Zebby that had long hair, and it was fun brushing him. And he loved being brushed.

All I can say is Wow! Polar bear is absolutely georgeous! It's amazing to see how she looked as a kitten and now. Her name seems to fit her with all that fluff. She looks like she should be on a calendar someplace.

Kat I know what you mean about the tagging game, I had a hard time too, I just gave up trying to find five.

Emma's Kat said...

Welcome Linda T.! :) Okay, we gotta know if you have kitties?!

Katnippia - Hope ML doesn't mind me [trying to] impersonate her, but here goes: To put the tribute graphic up you need to go to the site (just click on my graphic) and then on the right sidebar there, you need to click on FAQ. There they have the html code for this small graphic. You just paste it in your template and put in the name a local of your person remembered.

I HAVE a big question y do people let their cats out??????

Anonymous said...

Loa, I do not let my cats out after an experience with our now deceased cat, Kimmie. She lived to a ripe old age of 20 but when she was about 15, she was attacked outside and sustained a puncture wound, which we didn't know about. It abcessed and she almost died so from then on all of our cats have been indoor ones. They have all seemed fine with it and sometimes we have taken cats out under supervision but no more roaming. This is also what our vet recommends and I just feel better knowing where they are. I cry when I see any dead animals on the side of the road but when it is a cat, it is so horrible to me.

Thanks Kat I have my tribute up.

Ok, I know this is not their site but they do come here. They have a very touching tribute as theie post.
Princess marigold you hvae been tagged. Love yah Pounce-katnippia

As far as indoor vs outdoor cats, I think it depends on the circumstances. My personal opinion is that cats like to go outside, however if you live in a city it is best to keep your cats indoors. I grew up on the farm and our cats were always allowed to go outside whenever they wanted, but there was no traffic! It also depends a little on the cat. For instance Bubbles goes out, although I would prefer if he would stay inside. He was a stray that lived around our building, and the first time I closed him inside the apartment he went NUTS. I try to keep him inside as much as possible, but he is allowed to go outside. If you have a kitten that doesn't know the outdoors and you don't have a safe fenced-in garden or something, just keep him inside. Traffic is really the most dangerous thing for cats outside, so if there is a road close to your house, keep them inside.

Hello Fuzz Family!
Sorry I've been so reclusive, but there's outside (i.e. not cat related) issues clogging my brain at the moment...the fog is finally lifting!
Uh-oh!! The Entire Royal Family has been tagged! Okay, since I made a complete mess on Rose and the Royals site (HELP ML!! LOOK AT YOUR E-MAIL PLLEEEZZZE!!) We'll play on the Royalphotos site that is at wwwroyalphotos.blogspot.com, or click on my name today. But, give us until 2:00pm. It IS going to present a challenge to tag any of the Royal's cousins!
I made SUCH a mess of the Rose and the Royals site today, it's like I broke it...
Anyway, I also need to get a few photos to you, Kat. I understand Rosie La Louche, DOF.UK. elected Emily for the bellypics flikr box, and you were looking for cats in boxes? I have pics of Emily in boxes also. Just tell me, should I e-mail them to you or use your link for photo submissions to your site?

OH! Just got an e-mail from Our Tech Support Genie, ML!! will check back in later, I've got to come back and compliment Lady Polar Bear!! She is SOOO soft and plush looking! I'm thinking, would Rogaine work in Marigold, you think? J/K!!!!!
ciao for now!

What a beautiful kitty! I never would have guessed that she was born all white.
As for the indoor/outdoor debate: my current kitties are all indoor and we live in a fairly quiet neighborhood. We rent, but if we had our own home in a quiet area, I would let them out even just a little. I think you have to accept the hazards as a fact of life, just like with children. You protect them the best you can but let them live. Some would rather be indoor/outdoor and some prefer one or the other.
Kate

Yes, the indoor/outdoor debate is really a personal issue. I just feel my cats are safer in the house away from the critters & hazards outside (some of them are human but have been known to mistreat animals, which I will never understand).

Lynn said...

As for the indoor/outdoor debate, I keep mine indoors cause I had cats when I was too young to know any better that we would let go out and they would come back hurt or injured or would not come back at all, and it would really hurt me. Although Linda I can see with you having twelve (12?! wow!) cats that it probably would be impossible to keep them all indoors all the time. I have trouble just keeping track of my two. Yesterday Ella got out somehow when my Dad or someone opened the door, and I was looking everywhere for her, and finally found her in the next door neighbors yard. She got a good scolding from me for that!

danielle said...

The indoor/outdoor debate. I can NOT keep Spot in. He loves to go out. He is really good though. he comes when he is called and if he doesn't then I know there is a problem. Fortunately no problems. Jake and Casper tend to stay inside. They are welcome to go out but rather not. It all depends on the kitty and living situation.

danielle said...

No body has done trivia today! I'm rather saddened by this. :(

Ricki said...

All my babies stay inside. I do allow them to go out on my deck, (which is two stories in the air, and inless they jump which I am not worried about them doing, they are not getting very far) when it is nice, and only under supervision. Munchkin, Indigo and Simba love it, but Charlotte who we found living in a crate when she was a kitten, she doesn't want anything to do with the outside, she is pretty much like "been there, done that, it aint that great why sit out in the sun on a hot wood deck, when I can lay in the sun in the comfort of a cool bathtub, in an airconditioned room"

Polar Bear is gorgeous!!! i love comparing baby pix to grown up pix! she really is stunning. her eyes and colors are gorgeous...and her purrsonality sounds like my Calico (see this past Monday for her pix). Cali likes to get into trouble with her sibs, but she is on the shy side with everyone else except with me.

Linda T~you have me beat! i'm one shy of a dozen here but i'm at my limit too!

Polar Bear, you are sooo beautiful in your ladylike pose. And the pics look like they're of 2 completely different kitties.

When we had our first cat Fred, he was an outdoor kitty. My mom wouldn't HEAR of letting animals into the house and if outdoors was good enough for the dogs, it was good enough for the cat. Then we started letting him in to eat his food so that the dogs wouldn't get it. But since he was used to the outdoors, we couldn't keep him in. He'd meow at the door until someone came to let him out. Then he would meow at the door to be let in if he was hungry. Over the years, we would have 1 cat at a time and they were all outdoor and sometimes indoor cats. Two were hit by cars, 3 disappeared with no trace and 1 kitten went over the fence and was killed by the neighbor's pit bull.

At a time when we were catless, my sister Leona got a cat for us from the humane society. She was sleeping over at our house while making wedding preparations and didn't want to commute into town everyday and she was missing her cats. We kept Emily indoors. Then we got Molly and then Shirley and then Blackie and they were all indoor kitties. Indoors is a whole lot safer and now we never let our cats out. They don't even ASK to go out. I sometimes carry Pumpkin around the front yard but I never put him down. He likes looking around at the birds and plants but gets spooked at sudden noises or if the neighbors are around. Tiger and Blackie cry to go back in if I carry them outside. I'm not even going to TRY with Bebe. He doesn't like being carried and he's so strong he'd get away from me.

Kathleen - How terrible and so sad! Mine are indoor kitties too. My Danny Boy was allowed out w/supervision, but he would slip out when the opportunity presented itself! He would wait for his chance and then fly out thru the door! This ultimately resulted in his death as he received a puncture would from the neighborhood tomcat. The wound which we did not see, finally abcessed and he was given a shot of antibiotics. A few months after that in Jan. 2004 we noticed a "bee bee" sized lump there and by June and after we had seen a vet multiple times we had to say good-bye to Danny Boy, as the aggresive tumor had grown to almost baseball size. ::sigh::

Do you have the website address for the article?

KC and the Giggleman Kitties said...

Oh, that's what happened to your Danny Boy. So sorry to hear that, you've mentioned him alot.

That article is also on CNN: http://www.cnn.com/2006/US/08/11/kitten.obit.ap/index.html.

Someday I'll tell everyone about Mitzi. It's something no one knows, I did actually have a cat before Missy. I got Missy about a week after losing Mitzi.

But it has to do with the indoor outdoor cat debate. I am definitely AGAINST letting a cat outdoors.

The Royals and Gentleman Beau said...

Hi everyone,
I was sad to hear about the NYC Undercover Cat being killed also. I remember the whole story, that idiot who faked being a vet...he was doing surgeries and everything!
Last year, it was a "feelgood" story, to see a cat with a NYCP Badge on his collar. Since I was old enough to tell my parents what to do, ALL my cats have been "indoor only". I lost 2 cats I adored by my mom saying to me that "he'd be alright" outside. They just never came back, but one, named Trouble, found his way home after several months. He had an end part of a flea collar safety pinned around his neck. He came jogging down the little side street that led to our house, meowing all the way, with a little vibratto because he was jogging, y'know, like "me-o-o-o-o-ow"! I was sitting on the front porch and when I saw him coming, I yelled into the house "Mom! Here comes Trouble!" My mother was in a panic, like "what kind of trouble?!" Anyway, he walked right in like he'd never been gone, smacked our poodle, and we set down some food for him, but he wasn't eating right. That's when we noticed you could see his lower teeth. We took him to our vet, who said he had to have been hit by a car, because his jaw was broken. Whoever tried to care for him never took him to the vet, so the bones healed crooked. The vet rebroke the jaw to set it with a pin. I think my father was a bit mad because of the $$$ the vet cost, but no cat ever went outside after that...

It seems all three Royals have been "tagged"! I know Emily has been "tagged" by Missy, and Marigold has been tagged by Pounce and Katnippia. I also remember Brutus being 'tagged'...but We do not remember by whom. Please do advise, as we would like to play this week-end!

I'm going picture crazy with the DLS Digital Camera Deb sent me! I know there is an easier way to download pictures than what I'm doing now, but I've just been too impatient to read up on it better!
I discovered the 'video' function and that is WILD!!

I'm so bored...Summer Friday TV...*yawn*...unless you're a football fan...there's 2 games on tonight. I have repeatedly had that game explained to me very patiently, but like a stick shift, I just don't get it...oh well, think I'll go hang with Emily on my bed for a bit...it's so nice today, I had the windows open and no a/c running for the first time since May. Emily was good about not pulling the tape off until about an hour ago, and I looked over and saw the door open by about 4 inches. When I shouted at her, it was like she thought "Shoot! Gotta make a break for it!" I got to the door in time. There's this mean black cat that comes around to pick fights with Emily. The black cat will fling itself at Emily, and then Emily goes right back at her, both climbing the screen. I managed to dump a pot of water on her yesterday, but she pulled a Blitzkrieg type maneuver today, and she retreated just out of reach. Smirking, I'll bet. Is there a cat repellant I can spray on the terrace? I dread the day one of them tears the screen...
like Kat's Danny Boy, I'm afraid of any of the Royals to get bitten by that pathetic creature. The black cat is not a stray, in fact, she's kind of pretty. She has white whiskers, and someone has a collar and a flea collar on her. But you can tell by the coat that the cat spends its time outside.
Why have a fuzzbutt if you aren't gonna give it any lovin'?? I don't get that, either.

Okay, little nuzzlin' with HM The Queen...

Is there a list where we can know who has been tagged and, more importantly, not been tagged? Little KC asked me a minute ago, she's got some tagging to do.

Darn, KC could get all her tagging done at once if Deb had a blog (with the 5 Taylor Cats). Hehh hehh.

Emma's Kat said...

I had a hard time tagging too. Two I can think of that I know haven't been tagged are Cat Happy (Bari's kitties) and 5-Cat Flyer.

Katnippia said...

Well I have 5 kitties and the only one that has been tagged is Pounce. Now that i have let the cats out of the bag.
I hope everyone had a wonderful day. I won't be on tomorrow we are going to Sea World.

caspersmom said...

Polar Bear you have grown from a cute little one into a beautiful girl. Love your markings and your blue eyes.

Loa, I have a little area out back that is fenced in. It's actually a dog run. But I let my cats out with supervision. They go out for about a half hour and do what they want to do, eat grass, chase froggies, lizards or what ever. The girls (Patches and Cleo) like to jump the fence but they don't stay on the other side for to long. Otherwise I would say they are mostly inside cats.

Welcome Linda T. I guess you really have a fuzz pack of your own. Welcome to our fuzz pack.

Katnippia, hope you have a great time tomorrow. Sea World is a neat place.

BTW Danielle, Amber seems to be doing O.K for herself. She's still bleeding a little but she's doing well in spite of it. Since I got that hot coat off of her when it was so hot she seems to be more active. She's just being her sweet self.
