*In need of a home: Two white persian(?) cats w/blue eyes. They are male and femaile siblings and both are neutered/spayed. They have all shots. The people just had a baby(poor excuse in my humble opinion)and heads have been filled with old wives tales by grandma. PHHHHT! They are about 4 years old and are in the Missouri area. If you know anyone or are interested in adopting them, please contact me at Tansey1942@aol.com *

Hi pretty girl! You can so tell Bossi & Steppa are her parents. They look so alike and not just the coloring, their features too! What a tiny widdle baby she was! And it sounds like she's just like her siblings...full of mischief and character!

How is everyone this Friday day!? We're getting lots of wind and rain from good 'ol H. Ernesto! Going to go watch the weather and see what's up. My older son was supposed to have his Meet & Greet day at school. Don't know if it's happening!

It's the Mus! Which is Icelandic for Mouse. She is the odd eye in the family, one blue, one green. Her back legs seem like they are longer than her front legs, so when she walks, she looks like she is wearing high heels. She mostly hangs out by herself. She is pretty sweet, she liked me better when she was a kitten, and stayed at my house when my parents were gone for the weekend. She would sleep on my chest while I watched TV. Now when I come over, she kind of looks at me like "Do I know you?"

You guys in Furr-ginia and NC and all those places, batten down the hatches, and stay safe!

I know it sounds sick, but I grew up on the NC coast, and sometimes I miss hurricane season.....

Hey Riquel! We're getting lots of rain here!! Gusts of wind aren't too bad. I'd say the service sidewalk behind our house is probably at least 2 feet deep! When H.Isabella came thru here one of our neighbors was canoeing thru the back side walks! Too funny to see! Streets are flooding and underpasses are flooded too! We're getting ready to go out and look at the back sidewalk! If I can find a stick or my yard stick, I'll measure how deep it is!

pretty little mus. her pictures were taken before schmoo (the theif) painted her blue/green. you have to ask loa about that story. she has the same look on her face that yuki gives me. "you want what? and what does that have to do with me?" wonder if it's just white cats that can have such an attitude?

Mus is soooo cute! i love how her lips seem to be pursed in her adult pic, like 'don't come any closer to me with that flashy thing' she looks very girly there. and her kitten pic is precious. she looks like she has big paws! is she polydactyl?

Kat, i'm in VA now too and it's very rainy and windy here. it's kinda scary. i'm not used to this!
kitties are doing okay...tho every once in a while, when the wind blows really hard, they get a bit freaked out. Princess is just pacing around and not able to find a place to settle but most of the others are just sleeping as usual.

stay safe everyone!

Hi Mus! I'm so happy to see you! Your Momma is so great with her descriptions of all her furr babies! I agree, she looks exactly like her Ma and Pa! I just had to say that! A very pretty lady indeed!

I agree with Riquel, I miss Hurricane season too! I remember when Hurricane George came ashore in Gulfport, MS. We didn't evacuate, that's a story for another time, and had a great Hurricane party. You know what, I'll save the rest for my blog and talk about that today! Anyway, I'm from New Orleans and I'm glad I wasn't there for Katrina, Mom and Dad were though. Forget that, I'm getting side tracked!

I hope all our human friends and furry friends are having a great day and hope your holiday weekend is a good one!

OH, KAT and JESS, stay safe and don't go for a canoe ride until you know the water is safe! Wear your life jackets too! LOL Take care and be safe my friends!

Mus is a cutie! She does have a rather intense expression. You won't put anything over on her.

Take care everyone who is in the path of the hurricane. In 1996, I lived in Fayetteville, NC. when a hurricane (don't remember her name)hit Wilmington. Being from KY (tornado country) and not knowing anything about hurricanes, I thought we were safe because we were inland. I had a rude awakening (literally around 2am)when it came through. I never heard the wind howl quite like that before--for hours! We had roof damage, trees on houses and cars and no electricity for 3 days. Mother Nature should never be underestimated!

Hi everyone! Hi Mus (I love her name).

I need some advice. Last night, we noticed our Maddie seemed to be sneezing a lot and kind of licking her nose a lot. I could also hear an ever-so-slight wheezing sound when she breathed. This morning, she didn't bother to come down from her bed on the fireplace mantle to have "breakfast part 1". At least she did come around and clean her plate for "breakfast part 2".

Does she have a cold? Where could she have gotten it? Do I need to take her to the vet? Or just watch her for now? Actually, even right now (noon-ish PDT), the sneezing seems to have eased. Her eyes seem to be OK, maybe a hint watery but nothing obvious. She is sleeping more than usual.

Thanks! It is so nice to know I can turn to you all for kitty questions :-)

momsbusy said...

donna, can you hear any wheezing? or maybe a gurggly sound from her nose? if you hear those sounds you need to get her to the vet quickly. it could be fluid building in her lungs. not to make you panic or anything but she could drown. my cheebie started sounding gurggly and was lethargic, ect.... i took him to the vet and he gave him a shot (diarhetic) and put him on some pills too. he took xrays and did blood work. thats how we found out he had cardio myopathy (enlarged heart). it was scary at first but once we got into a routine he was fine. the vet said he would probably live a few more years but he stayed around alot longer.

Oscar the Puppy Cat said...

Hi Donna! I'm not sure how the weather is in Washington, but here it seems to be changing ever so slightly. Enough to make Our Cats and Duncan, my middle kiddo, respond with their allergies. I would give him a day or two like Karen said to kind of come out of it. If it's the gurgling that Mom's talking about, you might want to see the Vet. Gurgling isn't normal.

Thanks everyone,

I hadn't noticed anything obvious regarding a gurggling noise but I'll have a listen...she won't be pleased about that ;-)

Although I *think* she may be feeling a bit better now. She's up and going in the backyard and she looks a bit more alert. She also hasn't sneezed since some time this morning.

Weather-wise, we're starting off September in a beautiful way: mid-70s, clear and sunny. Probably the best month of the year in the Pacific Northwest. Certainly one of my favorites.

I was just listening to Maddie. I can't even hear any wheezing anymore. I dunno. I'm still going to keep a close eye on her for awhile.

Last week, she thought she was pouncing on a grasshopper but it was a bee or wasp or something and it stung her. Her right, front paw swelled up at least 1/2-again larger than her left! She had a slight limp but that's about it. We never noticed her breathing changing or anything and after 36-48 hours her paw was back to normal.

But that was last Sunday-Monday so I don't think that's related to her sneezing episodes. Timing doesn't seem right.

Thanks again!

Hello Everyone! I just got a call from Kat and her power is out due to the storm. She can't post. Hopefully her power will be up and running tomorrow. Anyway, if there's no Kat's Korner tomorrow then you'll know why.

Good afternoon, everyone! Mus DOES look like her momma, Steppa, and she's grown into a beautiful cat. Sure looks like she has extra toes on her kitten picture.

We still have lots of Quincy fev-vers for anyone interested. Grr is already enjoying hers and soon KC, Oreo and Princess Sia will too. Send me an e-mail with your address if you would like some genuine parrot fev-vers. Pumpkin got TOO interested in picking out nice ones to send and almost ran off with the whole bag.

To anyone in the path of the hurricane, please be careful and stay safe!

Linda

I purrsonally recommend the fev-vers! Quincy is VERY tasty...or, rather, HIS CAST OFF FEV-VERS THAT HE DIDN'T WANT ANYMORE are tasty. There. Is that better?

Loa, your Mus is a sweety pie. So cute. So nice to see her as a kitten and grown, but she looks like she might be a small cat. Is she??

Mus is so cute, such a sweet little face.

KC can't wait to get her little baby teeth around Quincy...well, his feathers!

Hope everyone on the East coast is okay and high and dry.

And does that mean the two persians have a home? I hope so, they sound gorgeous.

momsbusy said...

ATTENTION: we are taking up a collection to post bail for schmoo. he has been wrongly jailed for a crime he is innocent of. there is no proof he is guilty of painting mus's ear or the wooden floors. so far we have two cans of stinky goodness, a bag of nip and a fev-ver toy. please teleport all donations to Yuki & kimiko and they will forward to schmoo's lawyer (when we find & retain one) so he can be promptly released.

i will be posting the full story on kazoku neko later today.

Oh Loa, what a cute story. But I guess it isn't cute to you. Poor Mus has a green spot on her ear. Boy, I'm sure glad when I painted the ceilings that none of my cats tried to steel the paint roller. I would have put them in jail too. Well, it looks like Momsbusy is Shmoo's defense.

Hi everyone!!! I'm baaaaccckkkk! Lol! We finally got power back just a bit ago. Yea! A friend of ours let us borrow his generator and we hooked up the frig to it. And our neighbors were able to hook up their frig too! Wow, I can't believe all the rain that storm brought through! I've never in my 30+ yrs. living here, seen it this flooded! We went over to my mom's in the Blazer truck and on one street the water was up to the rollbar step. Our truck has big tires and a lift, so for it to be on the step to get into the truck, that was pretty deep! We saw a few cars half submerged and there were many more around town. The lake at Mt. Trashmore here was overflowing into the street!! Wish I had thought to take my camera!!! Anyway, we have power and all is well. We had 3 big green transformer boxes only two houses down from me that blew up!! This causing our power outage. Scared the bahjeebees out of me! After the 1st one blew I turned to look out the upstairs window and then the 2nd one blew and a few seconds later the 3rd! Loud! And all I saw was a big ball of orange flames! It was funny, one guy made a sign that said, " Slow, no wake please" and nailed it to the pine tree in his front yard.

So, what's this I hear about sweet little Schmoo!? Going to investigate now! ;)

Btw, I will just wait to post a new Kat's Korner until tomorrow.

How's everyone doing? It's funny, I had told Kim I thought Zebby might be getting an upper respiratory too! He was sneezing like crazy Thursday night and Friday morning too. But no discharge or runny nose. Now he seems to be fine also! Maybe it is just some allergy, because Jude was sneezing yesterday morning too. Hmmmm.

Ok, somebody tell me! Have I beat the world record for the longest post!? Or does Rose still hold it?! :)

Hey Kat- glad to see you're okay!

We're getting the wrung-out leftovers of whatisname now. A lot of wind, some rain. I just noticed the lights flickering a bit, so my complaining how NJ never gets "any good storms" should turn around and hit me in the teeth!

Imagine, if this sort of storm came around in, say January/February, the snow it would have dropped. It's nice Bread Baking weather, if I hadn't forgotten to get yeast!

Marigold has buggers in her nose...I remove them like any good mommy would with a tissue slightly dampened, 'cause she complains like it might hurt her. The Vet that is No More, (long story) said she just may have allergies. I thought well, to get buggers, she must have a runny nose...makes sense to me. Her eyes are clear, no sleepers even, and she doesn't sneeze (Brutus does enough for the 2 of them...boys!) Little girls should not have buggers in their nose...I think I use more tissue on her than I do for myself...(no, my buggers are under control, thanks very much) I was wondering if it were something she'd eventually grow out of, or maybe she'll always have 'em because of how her facial features are?

Brutus has now officially breached every last sanctuary left to Emily...I found him on top of the 'fridge yesterday! Whatever it is that Emily wants to do, he wants to get there and do it FIRST!
Also caught him sniffin' that cool organic 'nip ML sent to them. Only, he was using EMILY's 'nip pillow! Is nothing sacred...I thought he was a bit young to be 'nippin, just 4 months, 2 weeks...what the World does NOT need is Brutus on Catnip! He's liable to put a skylight in my ceiling, and I'm on the first floor of a 2 floor garden apt. building...

I've been typing one-handed because MArigold especially loves to sit on my lap while I'm on the computer. Oh, now she's napping...okay, TTFN, and hope everyone's safe and sound, and has a good rest of the long weekend!

(Kat...methinks you came respectfully close to the Long Post Record...but, Not Yet!!)

Emma's Kat said...

Rose - Darn! I was close though, right?! Anyway, Benji has the bugger issue too, as did my Danny Boy! And yes, they are and were orange kitties! I was told that it is something to do with their coloring and having more sensitive eyes and nasal passages. My Marley (flamepoint Siamese mix) doesn't ever have them. Benji gets them horribly and so does his orange sisters! Emma will get an occasional one and Zebby seems to have them pretty frequently. I guess some kitties just don't keep their noses clean and momma's have to do it for them! I'll have to remember and ask my vet next visit. We'll get to the bottom of the mystery of the yucka buggers! Well, gotta go 4now! Having a labor weekend barbecue at my mom's house. Yumma food and having some friends over to play cards and eat as well!

Anonymous said...

we lost power for 30 hrs but no major flooding in my area of town. glad to see you are safe Kat (and everyone else too!) have a good Labor Day weekend everyone.

Pumpkin said...

Glad to see that everyone's okay. Here in Hawaii, most of the hurricanes coming from the east die out before reaching us. The big ones that hit us came from the west so that Kauai got the brunt of the storms. It's been 14 years since hurricane Iniki so people are saying we're about due for another big storm.

About kitty nose boogers, Pumpkin is the only one here who gets them. I don't know if it's because he's the only one with a pink nose or the only orange kitty we have but they're very noticeable when he gets them. I clean his nose with a wet cotton swab and he loves it! Just lies there while getting his nose cleaned with eyes closed in bliss. LOL!

Now I gotta go to Mom's to see what I can do to help poor Schmoo!
