Patches (II)

This is Patches. She hasn't been posted anywhere yet. She lived as an outside cat for about half of her life. She had two male protectors, Bobby and Soxs outside, but yet I think they fought over her. She wasn't spayed at the time and she never got pregnant, which I thought very unusual. All we could think of is that she was to small or something. But I eventually did get her spayed. All of a sudden the cats around here started to get maimed by something or someone, or disappear . Never did find out what happened. That is when I brought her inside. I had to put Bobby down as whatever happened to him made him blind and he was old. Soxs disappeared. It took a long time before we could touch her or she would become friendly, but now I can love her up and pet her with two hands. When the cats go outside, she is mostly always the first one to come back in. She knows how good she has it now. -Casper's Mom

Good morning and Happy Labor Day? Anyway, it's Labor Day and the day before school starts for my oldest!

Patches you are such a beautiful petite girl! What color are her eyes C.'s Mom? I love the white body and black tail and head. Does she have any other black patches we can't see in the picture?

How is everyone? Don't have much planned for today. Actually nothing planned except for maybe some Pre-K supply shopping. We didn't get my younger son's supply list until last week at Parent Teacher Night, so I have to get those things and he's ready to go! He starts Thursday, which yes, is kinda crazy in my opinion, but...oh well!

......what is her 'relationship with The Captain?..................

KC and the Giggleman Kitties said...

I do fear if we any more of the Captain's exploits, poor Missy's little heart will be broken.

I just heard the Croc Hunter (Steve Irwin) died. Anybody know anything about it? I really liked him, watch him almost daily -- you know me and my animal planet. How tragic and sad for his family.

Beautiful cat. I love the markings.
I have a cat Squentin who was an outside cat, also. Brought him in cause something was getting at the cats in my old neighborhood. 83 cats were missing. I also lost my cat Purrl that year. Better to keep them in if possible.

ML. I just read on yahoo news he is dead. Was killed by a stingray.
Very sad.

BTW, Patches is very beautiful. Love to see more photos of her, especially one with Cleo. And always, more Captain Casper. Missy is sitting here beside me, so please, no more mentions of his "harem". In fact, she just got up and is now staring at the monitor. Poor little girl.

Gail, I'm sort of "new" to having cats, what in the world could happen to have that many cats turn up missing?

I'm still looking for a showing of Animal Planet's Ghost Cat aka Mrs. Ashboro's Cat...if anyone hears anything about it, please let me know.

ML We think were we lived it might have been a fisher cat. We aren't sure. A neighbor also saw a eagle come down and swoop up a small dog that was tied out. The eagle had to drop it cause it was tied. Luckily the dog didn't get hurt. Wild animals are just getting close and closer to peoples homes, looking for food. We used to get moose and grey fox in our old back yard.

Well, Hello Patches! You are going to be as close to your and Casper's Mom as velcro one day soon, aren't you?! It's a horrifying story when you were living outside and many of your friends went missing...so sad...but now you're safe and as happy as your pride will let you show, right?

ML, you have me interested in the movie "Ghost Cat" now! I'll let you know when I hear of anything...it was on Animal Planet? Wonder if their site has a question area about upcoming programming? (well, if they did, you've been there and done that, huh?! silly me...)

I was sad to hear about Steve Corwin, too...I never watched his show with any regularity, and didn't care about the stunt 2 years ago when he held his son while feeding crocs, but to go in that way, gosh...he was only 44, too. I sympathize with his wife and kids...

I start school tomorrow too!
I've been looking for that metal school bus lunch box EVERYWHERE...
*sigh*

For those with outings planned, HAVE FUN! Actually, everyone, enjoy the day!

awww Patches is beautiful and i'm glad you rescued her. sorry about the loss of the boys. it's cute how they protected her. nice how she came around and accepted the loving and petting :)

it's sad when animals just disappear like that. i remember the time that Gail is talking about and it was really weird and sad that so many cats were lost. we had a lot of wildlife and roaming cats in my old neighborhood in MA. so far, i don't see either here where i am in the new place.

ps.i just heard about Steve Irwin too. how sad!

Patches, you are one lucky girl...so glad you are now protected. Being outside is a scary thing. That is where most all of our rescues have some from - our backyard. People don't spay/neuter and let them roam. You are lovely, Patches - we hope you live a long a loved life!!!

Thanks for sharing our Foster kits page - we now have 4 needing homes! Purrs to everyone!

Here is an article about Steve Erwin's tragic death. So sad! I liked him and watched him all the time too! A little high strung at times, but he has done so much for wildlife. I can't imagine what his wife must be feeling w/two littles ones. After all the risks he's taken w/poisonous snakes and crocodiles, he dies from a stingray puncturing his heart! Here is the article: http://articles.news.aol.com/tv/_a/crocodile-hunter-dead-at-44/20060904005509990001?ncid=NWS00010000000001

Okay, Gail, where do you live? Moose! Grey Fox! And what is a fisher cat? Sorry for all the questions, this is new to me.

From IMDB.com -- the Internet Movie Database (which I love!)here is more info on Mrs. Ashboro's Cat. Wish they'd release it on video.

Hello Patches! What a beauty and such a wonderful person to make you her own! I love your Momma, she's a great person! You have come to know that being inside can be a terrific thing. You're sweey and very loved and now you're part of the Kat's family, welcome pretty girl!

I'm very sad about Steve Erwin! We loved his show and he has done so much for wild life. His enthusiam came across and made learning interseting for my kids and myself. I hate to say that he was living on borrowed time but I think he knew this. I feel for his wife and kids, he will be missed.

On a lighter note, I have to tell everyone this cute little story! Sean, as you know, is my six year old with Spina Bifida. Everytime we go to Walmart, I always say aloud, I wonder if we'll find a Handicapped parking spot? Well, yesterday he was playing in the back in his motorized Jeep. He parked in the yard and we told him he needed to park on the patio. He got back in the Jeep and drove up on the patio and said to my husband and I, "I found a Handicapped spot!" We said good and then went in the house and died laughing! How cute is that?!

caspersmom said...

Kim, how sweet of Sean to find his own handicapped parking spot. Loved your little story. He is quite the little man.

Well, Patches I see you are on Kat's cat of the day. You have become a very special kitty each and every day. Although you have been posted on Casper's site a couple times with more to come.

Rosie, Patches is the Captain's sister. (figurativly, not literally) She arrived on the scene around the same time when Casper did, but she was on the outside at the time. Missy, so don't fret O.K. You are still number one. She is around the same age as Casper, twelve years. Patches has two black spots on the other side that hasn't shown up in this picture. Her eyes look kind of like an olive green. They are different and at times they look like a muddy brown. I will try to get a picture of Cleo and Patches together, but they don't have much to do with each other. Cleo has more black on her.

Just like Gail and Jess, it has never been pin pointed on what was attacking the cats around here.

Thank you all for the comments on Patches.

caspersmom said...

Rose, yes Patches is becoming like velcro. When I sit on the couch watching TV she is right there. She really has come a long way and I love her for it. In fact she and Amber vie for the place on the couch. Actually Patches is the only cat that shows anything toward Amber (doggy) and Amber has nothing to do with her, and I find that a shame. Ooops, here I go with more than one comment.

What a cute story Kim! You should make him a little sign or something...lol! So what does everyone think of the "official seal"? Eewwwwww.....ahhhhhh....Marilynn over at Writeteacher's blog found the site. If anyone's interested, you can click on the seal to get to the site.

KC and the Giggleman Kitties said...

The seal is cute, but put Emma's photo in it!

Emma's Kat said...

ML - They only had two kitty pictures to use and the other was a kitten. :(

Btw, Emma's Movie Monday video is up and working now! Finally! :)

caspersmom said...

I like your seal Kat. It's cute. It has my seal of approval, it fits your site very well. I also want to thank you for running Patches picture today.

caspersmom said...

I cannot access my blog site. Can anyone else access it??? I restarted my computer and I still can't get on it. Please try and let me know here on Kat's site. Kat, I sure hope you don't mind??

Oscar the Puppy Cat said...

Monica, I can't access your site either. I'll keep trying. Kat, love the seal! OK, gotta get the kids in bed now.

Pumpkin said...

Uh oh, Casper's site won't open for me either.

caspersmom said...

I put Casper's picture on and it published, and I got on it fine this morning. But when I came back on this afternoon I couldn't get on. I do have something on the side about beta blog but didn't pay much attention to it. All that I changed published O.K. Doe's anyone know how to find out somewhere that I still have a blog anymore or not??

KC and the Giggleman Kitties said...

Monica, first, click on your "screen name" (caspersmom). That brings you to the Blogger PushButton Publishing Page with your interests, about me, etc. Down at the bottom will be a listing of all blogs under that screen name. Keep in mind you can have multiple screen names.
That's the little "trick" I use (not really a trick at all) to see who has what blogs.
I can see Casper's blog, however, I can't get on there, either. Could this morning, not now. I've been having blogger problems all day, finally gave up.
Hope this helps...

KC and the Giggleman Kitties said...

BTW, when I said click on your screen name, I meant here in the comments...you'll see the ones that are live links, they are underscored and blue. Let me know if you need anything else....!

Emma's Kat said...

Caspersmom - You can discuss pretty much anything you want here! I can't get on your site now either. I get a white screen. It has to be something Blogger has done. I accessed your site this morning as well. The last picture you posted was of Casper giving you that look of disgust or something like that, right? If it did it right after you posted, then I'd say unpost the picture. I would just lay low tonight and see how it is tomorrow. Then you should be able to email Blogger and let them know the problem. Weird.

Karen - Cecelia has switched to beta blogger...I think? I'm pretty sure and I am able to comment there just fine. But Rascal's new housemate Catzee has also switched to Beta...again, I think. And I can't comment there with my blogger sign on but have been told that I could by using anonymous or other. I'll have to go comment there and see. I'm not switching to Beta until I have to. It's already having many problems it seems.

Anonymous said...

Karen C - I have beta-blogger. I can comment on the pages of other beta-bloggers. But CANNOT comment on blogger pages unless they allow "other" or "anonymous". It is a pain. I had to create a blogger login and page so I can comment on blogger pages.

Emma's Kat said...

How come I was able to comment on Cecelia's site a couple of days ago, on the Close-up kitties post, using my blogger sign-on?? But today I cannot and had to check other???? Me no like beta blogger! :)

Anonymous said...

Yes, they are constantly making changes to the way beta-blogger works. At first I could comment on blogger acounts, and then they just dissapeared my blogger login!
I suggest that everybody that comment on my page use "other". And if you paste your http, then it is basically just as if you loggin. That is what I do when I comment here.
I don't advise antbody to switch to beta-blogger at this stage. It is a PAIN!

caspersmom said...

Well I got on to posting on the site but when I still click on the site that blank white screen still comes up. I guess I still have my site but blogger has something wrong somewhere. Guess I should wait until tomorrow to see what happens.

Emma's Kat said...

Good night all still awake! I gotta get in bed way early for me, as it's Jared's 1st day of school tomorrow! I'm excited. Don't think he is, but oh well! ;) Jude meets his teacher tomorrow as well. So, I'll be posting early probably from now on. Goodnight!

caspersmom said...

Goodnight Kat, sleep tight.

Up again to walk the dog -- it's almost 3 a.m. Central time. Still can't get Casper's site to load, just get a white screen. Checked the security settings, show everything approved to load, and loaded (in theory, anyway), but the display is blank and couldn't do a View, Source. Hopefully it is the blogger.

Cecilia's site loads and displays, but not before I have to approve some security settings -- that's how I can tell when someone is using the lovely ** beta blogger **.
