Monte

Monte is a different cat all together. He is very shy and will only come out from under the bed or the table when the young beans are either gone or being very quiet. He does not like loud noises or sudden movements. He stayed under our bed for weeks before he moved to the dining room during the day only. He used to not like his paws rubbed, but now he will allow me to massage them and rub his belly. He will lay down on the desk in front of me and try his best to look cute, which isn't very hard. The Daddy Bean wanted a yellow tabby cat so Monte came to us via the local animal rescue, at the same time as Missy. His previous owners had called the animal control officer. The control officer called the rescue, as he cannot put animals down, he is such a wonderful person. All we can figure is that Monte was abused by kids and even a man.Hopefully one day Monte will learn to trust us all and become a family cat. Either way we all love him. -Renee

Awww poor Monte! I was abused by a man in a black leather jacket, so I used to be a man-hater for years! I hope that you can come out of your shell and love your beans who love you so much!!

Congrats on being Kat's Cat of the Day!!

Monte is soooooo cute! he looks like a handsome and sweet boy. it sounds like he's already made progress in your house, and i'm sure with time and lots of TLC he will learn to trust even more. he does look very relaxed in both his pix. thanx for sharing :)

Monte you look gorgeous! I can relate - I do not trust any humans but the maid and the butler. I grew up in the wild and never saw humans except for when they would throw stuff at me and yell.

I understand your plight. I am older than my kidbeans and was in the house before them so am a littler more tolerant. There are times when they bother me though. I will run and hide, even though I know that they won't hurt me. I'm afraid of strangers at first. I think you have a lot going for you and it really sounds like you've come a long way. You have found the right family!

Mommy LOVES ginger kitties and thinks you're so gorgeous!

Poor Monte. It takes time but once you know no one will hurt you it will be fine. After 4 years Guy just became a lap kitty. One day he just discovered how great it was!

Monte's behavior sounds a lot like my Missy's. She has just discovered tummy rubs, chin skritches and rubbing up against legs. Maybe she will someday be a lap cat (I can dream).
Monte is just a gorgeous ginger cat, and I'll bet he starts to come around later.

Poor Monty, but so glad to hear that he found a great forever home. God Bless you Renee. I think he will come around, he just needs time. We have a cat that took several years before she began to trust. Monte is quite the handsome one.

I couldn't resist - I had to look at you again! What a handsome guy, and I think under the bed is a perfect place! I spend A LOT of time there myself. Pretty much all the first three month that I lived with Karl and the staff. Except when Karl would come and get me out. And I think it is very smart to not trust humans! Good ones are hard to find but I think we both managed to do just that! Very happy that you are in a good safe home now!
