Mei Lin

This is MeiLin, my adorable meezer mix kitty. She was dumped in a park one day and was luckly found by a very nice lady who kept her for over a week looking for her original owner. While at the same time I had lost my Rajjah a few weeks earlier and was looking through online ads trying to see if anyone had found her. I contacted the nice lady and asked if anyone had claimed the kitty and she said no and that she now needed to find a new home for her, since she already had 4 kitties and a woofie! So, I said I would come over and meet the kitty and if we clicked I'd take her. Well one minute of seeing her and that was that, she came home with me and has been a great joy to have in my life. I have my own blog where I write about her and her funny ways all the time. Come on over and see what she's up to! -Heather @ Pet Pics & Stories

Lilly Lu

Hi My name is Lilly Lu well okay thats what every one calls me. My real name is Lillan Kayla Maire but my mama said I look like a Lilly Lu to her so the name stuck. I was a cute cat on my last of my 9 lifes when my mama found me in a shelter. See I had been rutruned 3 time for "bad night time behaver" okay so i like to paw punch hummans when they sleep so they did not forget I was there. I did not want to be huged Just not forgoten about. When My mama Laura found me I was labed unadoptable and was just waiting till I had to go to the bridge. So when Mama Laura came in she looked all sad see another Kitty named Kayla had gone to the Bridge four weeks earlyer and she did thought she was not ready for a new kit since two previous adoptons had failed and not gone though. She said she only even went in becuse Kayla gave her a sing in a blue jay and blue jays seem to mark Kayla life mile stones. So I knew this was my last chance So I mowed so loud the loudest i ever mewoed as to say "look at me over here" I am Snow flake and I need another name take me home. Mamma Laura asked what my story was and they told her it and said she not the cat you want. Well that made mama Laura want to open my cage. And we bonded over a can of cat food that I had been sitting in my cage for a few hours. I was so skiny you could see my ribs. I weighed no more than 7lbs. I was just a 10 mouth old kitten then. Mamma Laura ran up front and said I WANT THAT SNOWFLAKE as there were two of us. She payed for me and said she need a few days to get things ready for me and begged them to let me stay. That Sat I came to my forever home. I can't say life has been smooth sailing as my big brother mu shue has never relly accpected me. But he tolters me and dose try and kiss too much. I am a very scady cat. But yet like to see what every one is up to I love to on the edges of the action. Please do not pet me uless your mama Laura as I am very scard of new pepole. I can beg wave and shake paws but only when there is ice cream involed. See I have a love for ice cream more than any food I can smell an ice cream store a mile away. I have my own blog now that I share with my sis Iris...Lilly & Iris Tell All

Nelson (Nels)

Nelson John LaPurr is an "old-guy cat", the elder statesman of Chez Pierce. He started life as a mouser in the warehouse where his Dad worked. The company's name was "Winn-Nelson", and his boss was John LaPour--so you can see where his name comes from. Dad brought him home on weekends so he wouldn't be lonely, and after the other kitties approved, he moved in permanently. At 16, he's suffered from chronic congestive heart failure for many years. It's kept at bay with special food and frequent check-ups. In good health otherwise, he can still gallop through the house at will, and if he decides he wants first licks from an ice cream left-over, he's not too shy to give a headful of claws to any contenders until he's had his fill! -Cheryl P. @ Meower's From Missouri

Ginger & Darcie

Here are Ginger and Darcie. They were abandoned by their mother outside, and were found by a nice lady and brought to her vet's office (which happens to be our vet too!). Our 18 year old cat had just passed away, and we couldn't help but take these girls home. Even though they are sisters, they are very opposite in looks and temperament! -Leslie D.

Kasha

This is my cat Kasha sitting on a friend's lap. She is 8 years old and loves eating uncooked pasta, meows at the wall and enjoys trying to beat up my other cat Shadow. And most importantly, she doesn't take smack from anyone (as you can tell from the 'tude she has in the photo)! Enjoy,
Laura

JustJack

Let me tell you a bit about JustJack! His name is from the tv show Will & Grace. He was the smallest kitty at the humane society and when we first met it was love at first site. He rode home on my shoulder in the car. He is 3 now, and he is my very best friend. He loves to snuggle and knead my chest with his nose right in my neck. He purrs and purrs so loud...we call it "quality time". He gets a lot of quality time and he just loves people!! -Deb T.

BeBop

This handsome guy is our special little Simeon BeBop. He is a unique little "tri-pawed" boy who lost his back left leg at the young age of 6 weeks. He had been left hanging on a privacy fence for possibly two days by people who despised cats. His leg was very badly damaged (gangrene had set in) and it had to be removed. At 8 weeks, however, he was well on the mend - "bebopping" (thus, his nickname) all over the house, even up the stairs without hesitation! With the help and love of a very special vet, lots of prayers from our cat-loving family and friends, and an amazing inner strength, little BeBop healed quickly and has made an amazing recovery. -Bari @ Cat Happy

Latte

On November 6th Latte will have lived with us for one full year. He was quite a spunky little kitten and very affectionate. He adored attacking his big brother Chase even though he was so tiny. When Latte was 6 months old I noticed he had a limp in his right hind leg. I assumed it was due to a fall as he liked to do silly things. A trip to the vet confirmed that it was most likey a soft tissue injury as the x-rays looked fairly normal but were kind of fuzzy. Two days later Latte got worse so I called the vet again and this time spoke with my usual vet who had me bring Latte in right away. It seems his femur had fuzz around it and looked "moth eaten". It was thought he may have a fungal infection. That night Latte was very sick and only wanted to sit in my lap. We took him to the hospital where they kept him over night and preformed a bone biopsy the next morning. We had to wait a while for the results but in the mean time Latte was sucessful at removing his sutures three times. He ended up with 2 e-collars. After many tests it was determined that he had a bacterial infection of the femur which was treated by antibiotics for 6 weeks. At the end of that treatment we noticed his head tilted to the side when he walked and he looked dizzy. He had a full neurological exam and was started on yet another antibiotic, this time to treat a protozoal infection. It was either that or an MRI to see if it was a brain tumor. Luckily the treatment worked and he's a happy little guy these days. He adores fuzzy mice and leaping after wand toys. He is loved by everyone and every cat in the house and he snuggles with everyone. While he doesn't like to be picked up or touched unless he wants it, he is still quite a snuggly guy when he wants to be affectionate but mostly enjoys running around the house wreaking havoc with Kaze. --Lauren-- Latte's blog: Latte the Meezer

Beto

Beto was born in Forth, Tasmania on 4 October 2005 (as calculated), and was born into a big family. Beto’s immediate litter family comprises of his mum, the late Chet, 2 a brother and a sister. Beto, his brother and sister were born in Mishka's kennel as Chet decided that was the dryest, warmest and safest place to give birth. Because the little kittens liked the choice of birthplace so much they continued to occupy it for most of their pre-weened kitten days while Mishka slept outside. Well until she got fed up and reclaimed her kennel - with the kittens still inside ;) Other residents include Dazza, otherwise known as Darren, Phillip, Rebecca, Paulo (Melanie's husband) & Emma (Darren's partner). Added to this is Starlight (the horse who has been with Melanie since at least 1983), Bob (dog adopted from the Reid family) and i suppose we had better mention, Rock (Phillip's horse). Beto now lives in Hobart with Mel and Paulo and is over a year old. He loves the outside and has had many adventures. he also tries to talk to us often but we havn't quite worked out his lingo, except for a few educated guesses ;) For his full BLOG of adventures : http://littlebeto.blogspot.com/ -Melanie

Sophie

This is Sophie and she lives in London. Sophie's a Bengal and came from the Bengal Rescue Society. She's only been with me since July 2006 and was very timid (except when a boy cat picked on her at the Rescue Center and she beat him up!). She was too shy to even have her photo taken but look at her posing now, infact she's featuring in the Bengal Rescue Society's calendar. She was so cute and so many people asked me to e-mail photo's so I set up a website for Sophie - http://www.sophiecat.co.uk/ - it recieved 14,000+ hits in 3 weeks, mainly due to a series of photo's of Sophie entitled ' Sophie zonked out' which show how Sophie fell totally and utterly asleep with her head on a little sweetie box! -Angie

Polly

I got Polly from a feral cat colony. Her mother abandoned her in a wooded area at about 2 weeks old. She was a joy from the second I got her. She was desparately in need of attention from cats and I had the home that was perfect for her. She immediately took to the comfort of my largest tomcat Gilbert. And of course, she received more baths than any kitten deserves or wants from the many loving tongues in my home. All of my cats totally babied her and let her do whatever she wanted. It has been such a true joy to watch her and all my kitties be so loving and playful. Even Brandy - Dandilion my dog thinks she rocks. -Christina w/Harmony Pillows

Fatty & Fluffy

My little cutie is a little girl who's 8 months old and her name is Fatso (AKA Fatty) . She is the baby of my gorgeous Sammi. Sammi had a litter on the 1st of Feb 2006... so they are my Valentine babies... out of a litter of 5 my Fiancée and I couldn't part with two of our precious babies... Fatty and her sister Fluffy. We weren't planning on keeping any of the kittens but eventually couldn't help ourselves since there were no homes that we approved of. -Tanya R.

Cosmo

Here is the first and oldest of my family, Cosmo. One picture shows his lean handsome shape, the other picture is of him trying to get at a squirrel. The bird feeder is on a window in Nicole's favorite room but she likes to share. Cosmo is 12. We adopted Cosmo from VB Animal Control. In the cat room at VBAC, he was all alone on one side of the room where most of the cages were empty. He was jumping up and down for us to notice him (he was about 5 months old) and we instantly fell for him. VBAC wouldn't let us take him home for 4 days. When we returned on the forth day he could barely breath and could barely stand up. He was so very sick. We took him home and nursed him back to health. To this day, Cosmo has frequent loud sneezing fits, sneezing at least 6-7 times. Cosmo is a loud purrer. He purrs when we touch him and he loves to have the top of his head itched. He loves to be chased through the house. Since Cosmo has gotten older, he has a difficult time jumping on the counters. So in our master bath where he likes to drink out of the faucet, we've built him a ramp so he can get on the counter himself. Cosmo never sheds, his fur is fine and soft. Cosmo loves to sleep with us and loves to nap on one of many heated beds throughout the house. Cosmo seems to like Halle the best of our cats. -Darcy

Fritz & Clara

These are my good friend's cats, Fritz and Clara. She found them wandering around in her neighborhood -- each at a different time and place, but within a day of each other, and adopted them both. To her knowledge they are not related (though they sure appear to be), but they love each other as you can probably surmise from the photo attached, though they are different as night and day in their temperaments. Clara is very smart and alert and loves only her owner, whereas Fritz is an indiscriminant people-lover and a poetical, dreamy type -- often while lying on his backdaydreaming on the top of the refrigerator, he falls off, which doesn't seem to bother him at all. In any case, I am hoping they might qualify to be seen on your wonderful website. These formerly homeless kitties (in this photo about a year old each) truly have brought so much joy into our lives. -Alice L., friend of their owner

Ariel

Ariel (Lemieux's sis) is just such a great cat. It's hard to capture her essence with the camera. She is a fairly petite girl (7.1 lbs.), but most pictures make her look bigger. She's very graceful and fast as lightning. When I take the kitties out in the yard, I always have to track down the others and carry them when it's time to go inside. But with Ariel I just say "In the house" and she goes right in. If I am sitting on the couch in the evening I know when it is 7:30, because Ariel will jump on my lap. I don't know how she knows what time it is, but it is always within minutes of 7:30.

Thanks for posting Ariel. I'm fairly new to cat-loving, so it's good to meet others who feel the same way. -Ann M.

Pepi

Pepi is our only male cat here at the House of the (Mostly) Black Cats. He, along with his buddy Gree, were abandoned by the neighbors and we took them in. He is a real sweety, always saying hi when we come home, and wanting to sit with us and get scritches. Pepi and Gree are currently mostly outside cats, but we've always let them into "their" room, the sunroom, when it's really cold. This fall we've started feeding them inside all the time, and let them stay in "their" room at nights. I'm hoping they decide it's so nice inside that they don't want to go out any more. Maybe Temptations will help with that. :)~~ Mom Robyn of the Hot(M)BC
