Oreo

This is my 3 year old grandcat, Oreo. My daughter is his mommy, so I guess that makes me grandma. I sure spoil him like a grandchild! As you can see, he has very thick belly fuzz that we love to run our fingers through. He is very snuggly and affectionate. When he isn't sleeping, eating, or commanding our attentions, his favorite amusement is hunting feathers or pouncing on the dog's tail! -Karen S.

He is adorable, looks so comfortable like he is waiting for the photographer to hurry and take the picture so the tummy rubbing can begin!!! Thanks for sharing him with us, he is definitely a grandcat.

He is really cute. He could be a cat on that hitler site. He looks like a lot of fun. I bet he is a great feather hunter. I wonder what kind of dog he attacks?

Good morning everyone! Oreo is just adorable! The black beard and bottom lip is too cute!!! And he's got the plunger tail like Loa's kitty, Bossi.

Btw, my foster girls went up to PetsMart yestereday and will hopefully be adopted soon! Mini- Bagheera seemed okay w/it, but Catalina kept reaching thru the bars at us! My sponsor, Deborah said she came by later and they were both sleeping and doing just fine. It's funny, and I've told this to Deb T. awhile ago, but my sponsor's name is Deborah Tyler! Funny, just a few vowels difference. Anyway, Zeblin, a 7yr. old sweet but depressed boy came home w/us to be fostered for a few weeks. He is white and black, long-haired and so sweet and gentle! His family became homeless and couldn't care for him any longer. He has been very quiet and down, so he is coming to our house for some home life before being put up. I will get pix of him if I can ever get the camera back in the house!

That is so funny Kat. I was thinking about putting Catalina's picture on the venting page. At last minute I didn't though.

Oreo is great isn't he? I want to pet the belly. How much does he weigh?

I forgot again. Good morning Fuzz Family. I just have a lot on my mind. I wrote a big thing on the venting page. That's part of whats going on. A second part yes Kat I can get blogger on the weekends. (FFCA related) Also Jake is eating dry food. YEAH!!! I gave him a choice last night. I had two bowls one with wet food and one with dry. He completely ignored the wet and devoured the dry. I did not call the vet last night. I forgot. I am going to make an appt for Friday. I want to have his blood checked out. Just to be on the safe side. I am still a little worried though because he still has not been edrinking. Any advise?

Yeah, Jake. So glad to hear he is eating. Sorry I can't help with his symptoms, but we've got a bunch of seasoned experts here who will.
Orea is gorgeous. You just want to snuggle with him. I'm also curious how much he weighs.
Isn't it just amazing how many beautiful cats there are? Ah, just so many cats, so little time.

Missy & Bear & I also said to tell Deb to get to feeling better. We hope those shots today will help her migraine. It's rained here in Houston for DAYS and DAYS, not good weather for migraines.

Good morning Fuzz Family. Oreo is a beauty -- always did love oreos :). Just got back from the doctor. Four shots. Ouch! Hopefully they will help this migraine. The weather is certainly the trigger for this one. Everyone take care!

Good morning everyone.

Hello Oreo! Oh my gosh, you're right...that tummy is absolutely irresistable.

That is very good news about Jake. I hope we get good news about Cairo getting adopted.

Well, since making the appointment for Kona, he seems to be eating better, or more comfortably again. Too late LOL. He's going in anyway, just to make sure everything is OK. I'll let everyone know how it turns out.

Katnippia said...

Thanks Kat1, no things are not all and well but I will figure out something.
GS, Sorry I didn't get back with you sooner about the kittens.

I asked my mom if we could take her until we could find a home for her and she said absolutely no more animals. I was pissed. But good for you Kathleen. I am very happy for you.

Oh Kathleen, that is soooo wonderful.

I can't wait to hear all about her and to see more pictures.

You are one terrific person!

Kathleen, YOU ARE A SWEETHEART!!!

I went to look at Cairo on the site Karen posted, and she is such a beauty!

Special Needs Kitties attract Special People. I feel priveledged to know you!

And that goes for the REST of you, too!
So There!! ;P

Hi Oreo, you look like you could use a good belly rub. Just wondering though if you would close up and scratch if trying to rub your belly. Mighty handsome grandcat.

Deb, sure hope you will be feeling great soon. Four shots for a migraine. Whoa!!

So great Cairo is going to have a good home. Kathleen, thank you. I went on to see her picture last night and she's a cutie. She reminds me of our Gizmo.

I take Amber in tomorrow to another vet for a second opinion and a sonagram. (sp)

Hooray for Jake, sure am glad to hear he is eating his food.

Bear, sounds like you are getting along O.K. Real good, keep it up.

Katnippia, I won't be a butinski (sp?) but would like you to know that I hope whatever is going on will work out for the best!

If I've forgotten anyone, I'm sorry and hope all is well in your lives!

Hi everyone! I just checked in on my lunch break, and there's my fuzzy boy! Thanks for all the great things everyone has said. It really makes you feel good to have other people make over your cat!

I'm not sure what he weighs. I usually have to drop him off at the vet on the way to work and pick him up after work, and I never think to ask. The last time I checked I think he was around 11 pounds. He's not fat--just fluffy.

I have to call Katie (my daughter) and have her check it out. She needs to show Oreo that he's become a celebrity. I have to get back to work. I'll check back in this evening.

momsbusy said...

kathleen - congrats on becoming the new purrson belonging to cairo. i'm sure rosie the rose will understand the situation and welcome her new bestest friend into her heart.

Anonymous said...

Hi!!! That's my baby! he'll be so happy he's a celebrity! He actualy hates it when people rub his belly. It's a shame 'cause his belly fluff is, like, awsomly soft!

G2G,
katie kittie

P.S for all U old people, G2G means got to go ;)

Kathleen,

OLD???????????????????????

Anonymous said...

..ahem...whats the buzz on the Floridian Fuzz?.................

Anonymous said...

GS, don't take it personally. Depending on her age, anyone older is "old". To some of us (I'll be 60 in August) the majority of you are all young.

Anonymous said...

..this fuzz looks like a chequer board.....schnoort.........

danielle said...

I am bored out of my mind. I also have a lot of work that I am neglecting. Oh well. How's everything with your family? School out for you yet?

Anonymous said...

Sorry guys! Katie is 12. As far as she's concerned, anyone over the age of 25 is old. According to her I am as ancient as the dinosaurs! (at the ripe old age of 42)

Just playing

Man! Gone for a few hours and all heaven breaks loose! hehe...Kathleen, as everyone has already said, but I'm gonna say it again! SO glad you could rescue Cairo. I can't imagine where Karen C. is! She's gonna freak out when she get's the word! Anyway, so great!

It is hot here!! I had to go to the grocery...with my younger son, uhhhh! Not fun! AT least I didn't have both!

Anonymous said...

Rosie--yes he does look like a checker board! I wasn't sure I liked that look at first, but his markings have grown on me since he was a kitten.

What's worse is that all my white clothes get black fuzz on them and all of my black clothes get white fuzz on them. I am in constant need of a lint brush.

KC and the Giggleman Kitties said...

Kathleen, congratulations on taking the lovely Cairo. You will have to put lots of pictures for us, of her and Rosie. They are going to be so neat together.
Where in the world is Karen C?????

KC and the Giggleman Kitties said...

Hi Karen C, we must have posted at the exact time...!

Emma's Kat said...

More good news everyone! Darcy who handles a lot of the adoptions called maybe a half an hour ago and said that Catalina, my little grey foster girl, would be going home at 4:30! And that she was telling them how it would be good to have two kitties...hint hint Bagheera. Darcy just called back and said they were taking both of them!!!! Yeah! She said they were going to a great family and that they also had a dog. Ok, need a tissue. It's so great they get to grow up together!

Oscar the Puppy Cat said...

Kat, THAT'S WONDERFUL!!!! I know how this is for you as we just spoke about it last night! I'm so happy that they get to stay together. This IS a good day! Jake is eating dry food, Danni won the key, Kathleen is adopting Cairo, and now this news about Mini B and Catalina!!!!

Lynn said...

Congrats all, looks like it has been a really good day! I missed a lot. So glad to hear everyone's good news! Always good to hear about fuzzies finding a home. I'm finally starting to dig out from under all the paperwork I have to fill out. I'll be glad when I get caught up and our company gets back on its feet.

Hi Oreo! You sure are a handsome (and fluffy) boy!

Anonymous said...

wher is Donna and hoe is WOMAN LOL KONA

Emma's Kat said...

Yes, I too am anxious to hear what's going on w/Kona boy, if anything. That's funny that Kona means Woman in Iceland! Wonder if what Kona means in Hawaii. I know it's the name of a place in Hawaii, but does it mean anything? Kim!!?? Alohahelpher?!
Anybody??!!

Anonymous said...

Oreo is a gorgeous kitty. love the name too. he looks playful and frisky...meow!

Anonymous said...

Hi everyone,

That is wonderful news about foster babies.

I'm leaving in just a few minutes to go home and package up Kona-boy and Maddie-girl for their trip to the vet. I think I'd better get Kona in his carrier first. If I did Maddie first, I think Kona would be quicker to go try and hide!

I do hope that Sunday was just an anomaly and/or all he needs is to get his ears cleaned out a bit. Maybe he has a waxy build-up that bothers him occasionally. Oh I don't know. I hope to find out soon.

I'll post later.

Just got home from town and I'm just LOL (that's laughing out loud) for all you young folk, at all the comments since I posted last. Katie love you. So glad your handsome boy was picked as the celebrity today. Sorry he doesn't like belly rubs because he looks so soft and cuddly, and it looks so tempting to rub his belly in that one photo.

Actually I did not know what G2G meant, so was glad you made that all clear. So..... that does make me one of the older folk. I need my granddaughter around to clue me in on all the internet talk.

Love you fuzz pack for all the good you do with these cat's and kitten's.

Anonymous said...

Oh I just LOVE it when kitties go belly up like that! Shows how secure and comfortable they are. Snookums (who when to kitty heaven last month at the age of 16 1/2) was always on her back and exposing her pink belly through the white fur. She was a tease though because when you tried to rub her, she'd give you a nip.

About the name "Kona," other than a city on the west side of the island of Hawaii, I don't know what it means. I tried looking it up using an online Hawaiian dictionary but I came up with either "ton" or "Hard, unyielding, unfriendly, contemptuous, brusque, haughty" which doesn't fit Kona at all!

Linda

Anonymous said...

Hi Linda! LOL, no, it doesn't quite describe Kona at all. Well, neither does Kona in Icelandic ;-) Again, Kona was simply named for the town.

Both kitties were very well behaved at the vet's. Well, Maddie hissed a bit when they checked her ears--she was done with the poking and prodding. She got a clean bill of health.

And, actually so did Kona! Teeth fine, ears fine, heart fine. Hmmmm. They've taken a blood sample to do a blood panel and will call tomorrow. Even my scaredy-boy did very well with all those strangers holding and poking and prodding.

We're all back home and Maddie and Kona are acting as if their adventurous afternoon never happened.

So, we'll see what, if anything, Kona's blood reveals.

Could it simply be that he's found his food-intake equilibrium? I just don't know.

Maddie now has a goal weight: 9-9.5 pounds. She needs to get down from 10.4. We're going to shoot for 10-10.5 for Wiley and see how that looks on her. Even Kona dropped to 11 pounds (currently 11.8) he'd be fine.

Oscar the Puppy Cat said...

Donna, so glad to hear that the Maddie and Kona did so well. Hopefully nothing will show up with the blood panel. Thanks for letting us know! Like Karen, I've been waiting for news on our Kona.

Emma's Kat said...

Donna, I too am glad all is well w/your kids! I'm sure Kona's fine! Your kitties weights seem fine too. My Benji was actually one year old on the 9th of June!! Sorry Benji Boo!! I was looking back at my Foster book, where I write every kitty that comes thru and when they are adopted, etc. and it says June 9th as his b-day! Bad mommy! Anyway, we weighed Benji on a kitty scale last week and he weighed 12lbs!! I'm gonna start paying more attention and make sure he's just getting his 4 small meals a day! It's been kind hard to monitor when the kits were here, cause he'd eat their kitten food. He's a big kitty anyway, but I think he needs to slow down. Don't want him too fluffy! :)

Anonymous said...

Kat, Kona's birthday was June 7th! (of 2001).

Our vet said her personal trigger point for worrying about a cat's weight and the possible onset of diabetes, etc., is 15 pounds.

But I know that non-overweight kitties live longer, are more comfortable, etc. so my girls are going to lose some weight, albeit slowly. :-)

But they are sooooo good at looking pathetic and like they're about to pass out from lack of food. Little boogers.

KC and the Giggleman Kitties said...

Well, it's been a day of good news. Great news.

The vet called about the results of sending Bear's x-rays to a specialist. Apparently the specialist didn't think there was any evidence of heart disease. But she (vet) thinks there is. But the spec. recommended putting Bear on antibiotic for the cough, that it might simply be bronchitis. I'm going by tomorrow to pick up the antibiotics.
Fuzz Pack, do you think I should take her to another vet? This vet is very young, I'm concerned with her disagreement with the specialist. Heart disease is nothing to play around with, to guess at. Guess I answered my own question, but would be nice to have a little FUZZ FEEDBACK here.

Emma's Kat said...

I would definately try another vet and see what their opinion is. I mean, you would think the specialist would for sure know what they were doing. You'd think your vet would, but a specialist is specialized in a certain field, thus they should know if Bear has heart disease or not! Right?!

Btw, check out the new adorable kitten video on CuteOverload! So funny!

The Royals and Gentleman Beau said...

ML-
I'm worried about the young Vet's Dx, too, aside from an X-ray, theres EKG, and just a good, trained ear to LISTEN for both heart and lung sounds as part of the work-up. X-rays are hard to read, and if she's young, she may be mistaking a normal aged heart for a diseased one. She may need to developed a better ear to hear bronchitis...well, for ease of mind, I would ask around for a "seasoned" vet-may be one who is accustomed to the "geriatric" patients...but AT LEAST someone with more experience. In any case, the antibiotic is a good idea...Bessings to you both, as always!
