Summer

Summer was found in Seaside, Florida -- we go there every summer. She was pregnant, so we took her in and kept her kittens too -- (Sassy & Spats.) Summer was a name that I loved. -Deb T.

Good morning! Isn't Summer just the prettiest! I love the little smudge of orange on her mouth! Calico's are the best of both! You get my fave color(for kitties at least), orange and my other fave color, black! And check out the little black toe pads! And, wow...check out her FB package! :) I'll have to get a ruling from Rosie, but she's looks close to being labeled as having LT's!!

I'm in a great and talkative mood this morning, if you can't tell already! Hope everyone is having a great day! Kim, how's the Cam Fam this morning? Better I hope! And Deb, Jakey, Amber, Kathleen, & Shirley? And anyone I missed!?

Hi Deb, Hope your migraine is better today. Summer is beautiful. Love the way you acquired your cats and love their names...can't wait to see the rest of the gang.

Morning Fuzz Pack...it's NOT raining in Houston today...!

Anyone having problems w/Yahoo? It's not letting me sign.

Good Morning Fuzz Pack!

Wonderful choice for the first day of Summer, Kat! And a pretty Summer girl she is! I can tell just by looking at her that she has very soft, thick fur! I, too, love the name!

Kat, still down but trying not to let it get me down. Sean's feeling better so I can't sleep all day today. :( The kids and I will get through the day :).

ML, yes, I'm having trouble with Yahoo too. It won't let me sign in.

Oscar the Puppy Cat said...

OOPS, I mean Kat, I'm having trouble with Yahoo! Sorry!

KC and the Giggleman Kitties said...

We don't use Yahoo! anymore, but still have the log in. I can't even get to the log in page. Or check email. It acts like the page is loading, then just clicks back like I never tried to log in.

They must be having problems today. Gotta check something else...

Yeah for Kathleen. I'm just very happy. Also for Cataline and mini Bagheera.

Okay, went to the Yahoo! Help site: http://help.yahoo.com/ didn't see a posting on any problems (that may not be the place they post system news). Still can't log in.

Good Morning Fuzz Family! What a nice surprise to see my Summer as the Cat of the Day! Isn't she beautiful? She is such a love kitty. Likes to lie around all day and be waited on....and we do! Migraine is a bit better. Still moving slowly and quietly. Looks like Rose will be getting Brutus & Marigold on Saturday! Thanks to all for their good wishes! :)

Good morning everyone.

Hello Summer! What beautiful tri-color. I agree, a perfect kitty for the first day of summer today.

Kona continues to seem just fine after our deep concerns Sunday evening. I'll be talking to the vet some time today to see if his blood tests reveal anything. If nothing shows up there, I'm not sure whether to just let him be and keep an eye out, or let them take an x-ray which they mentioned they could do.

We'll see.

morning all!

summer is such a pretty kitty. i agree w/ kat about the fb's. it does appear there are some whiskers behind miss summer. wish we could see who it is. hint hint deb.

gotta take kimiko to the vet today. i have been a bad mama. didn't notice she was scratching so much and now she has scabs all over her little body. she is allergic to the saliva from flea bites. poor baby. she will have to get a shot. she has been so patient w/ all that has went on the last month (2 funerals, a family reunion and my bronchitus). btw - the bronchitus is soooo much better. occasional light coughing spells and still a little fatigue. at least i am not taking 3 hours naps in the afternoon. wish i could though.LOL

glad to hear kona is well. i can relate to the diet for the girls. i am getting ready to start an exercise program. gotta get toned up and trimmed down. actually lots of toning and trimming. LOL one of my favorite pics on my screensaver is of wiley. she really is a pretty girl.

traveling mercies for brutus and marigold. can't wait for rose to get them and send us lots of pics.

hope everyone &/or their babies (2 or 4 legged) that has been under the weather is doing better. keeping the fuzz pack in my prayers.

better quit hogging up all the comment space. boss is out of the office right now so i am taking advantage of it. shhhhh don't tell!

Summer is a wonderful cat. She is a beautiful asset to the Taylor household. But then, I'm her Aunt and a little prejudiced.

Emma's Kat said...

Calm down everyone! The whiskers peeking over Summer's shoulders I do believe are her daughters', Sassy & Spats. They are next to be posted and you will see them next week! Simma down now! Simma...down...now! Anyone remember the SNL episode?

Anonymous said...

Okay anonymous -- which one of my sisters' are you. I'm betting it's Retta, but it could be Bren. Summer is a sweetie. I'm not sure who is in the picture behind her, could be Sassy or Spats.

danielle said...

Mom,
My Spot is allergic to flea saliva also. I think. That is what the doctor said when he was pulling out his fur. It also was depression. Maybe being alergic to fleas made him depressed.

Ahh, Fuzz Pack, remember soon we will have to include 3-legged babies in our posts (Cairo!). We'll say "babies: 2, 3 and 4 legged".

Hopefully we won't need anymore changes after that!!!

KC and the Giggleman Kitties said...

I just clicked on Summer's picture to enlarge it, and there are two huge green eyes behind her, peeking over. Looks like a black nose...? Who is that?

Mary Lynn, went back to yesterday's comments. If you are not satisfied do get another opinion. I am taking Amber in this afternoon for a second opinion and maybe a sonogram. She was very restless last night, got about four hours of sleep. I think I am sleepwalking or writing. Whatever?? Sounds like today is vet day in most of the comments above. Hope all pets going to the vet will have the best results.

Summer you are one real pretty kitty. Love your name. Somehow it fits you so well. Deb, you are lucky to have her. Also looks like paws behind summer's head. It will be really nice to see what Sassy and Spats look like. Will be looking forward to next week. Looks like by the legs that they match Momma.

Kathleen, I'm sure Rosie will be fine. It does take time to introduce one cat to another. What we've done in the past is confine the new member to one room with litter, etc. and also make a bed of towels, blankets and then everytime you go in to spend time with the new cat, bring out the towel they have laid on and let the family cat sniff and lay on the cloth. Then exchange them again and within a few hours to days (depending on the cats) they are used to the smell of each other and it isn't so hard. Not hissing, spitting, etc. We've done it many times and it seems to work for us.

Oscar the Puppy Cat said...

Karen, you are SOOO lucky to have her there with you!!!! I'm just so happy that Kathleen will be her new human!!! Don't tell my husband but I'm kinda sad that she won't be coming to live with me. I have no place taking in another cat but I just really fell in love with her and her story! I have a HUGE soft spot for the disabled, gee, I wonder why?! But Kathleen was the one person I thought would be absolutely perfect, didn't we just talk about that Karen?! Anyway, I'm just so happy!!!!

.....Summer Lovin'!.......unfortunately, she only has FB's....only beloved Boca and Captain Casper have the honour of having FT's....anyway, I digress......Summer is a Sexpot...the FB's; the multi-coloured toe-pads; the 1/2 moustache/coffee stain....this little hornball is ready for action!....(I hope to G-d she's spaid)....fuzzaduzzaduzz.....

Karen C, where is Kathleen located? She mustn't be to far from you as you said in one of your comments that you would drive six hours from where you live.

Cairo is one special kitty. So glad she is getting a good home. I still think Cairo looks like Gizmo to a degree. I sent GS a picture of Gizmo.

Anonymous said...

Hi Rosie, guess I will have to start calling Casper, Captain Casper!!!

KC and the Giggleman Kitties said...

Isn't Saturday going to be a wonderful day!!!

Cairo goes to be with Kathleen and Rosie the Rose, and Brutus and Marigold go to be with Rose and Emily. What a great day!!!

Now we just need to set up the webcams so we can all watch the fun!

KC and the Giggleman Kitties said...

BTW, about the problems with Yahoo! earlier, today our accounts between SBC and AT&T were "merged", that probably messed up the logins. We ended up getting billed from BOTH, couldn't login to either one. Kept getting linked a merger page that didn't work. After about 1.5 hours with their tech support, think/hope it is resolved.

Anonymous said...

Thanks for answering Karen. That's pretty neat that your sister in on the way. Will your sister continue on with you to San Francisco?? It's so nice of you to do all this for Cairo and Kathleen. Bless you.

KC and the Giggleman Kitties said...

I want to see pictures of Cairo taken in your home, Karen. I have saved Cairo's shelter pictures to compare later with ones from Kathleen. Bet we see a big difference in that kitty.

Captain Casper's Mom, who is Gizmo? Have we seen a picture? Hmmm.

Oscar the Puppy Cat said...

Y'all have got to see the snuggling kitties on Kitten Picture Blog!!!! How sweet!!!

Anonymous said...

How neat that Cairo is so friendly.

Gizmo is suppose to be my daughter's cat but he doesn't have anything to do with her when she does come over, so guess my grandkitty is mine. I have sent his picture to GS to post sometime in the future. He is a grey and white cat, like Cairo. Then the only one that hasn't been seen will be Patches. She is black and white like Cleo, but she has more white on her.

Have to look Bodega up on the CA map.

Well, with heavy heart I'm off to the vet with Amber in a bit.

Emma's Kat said...

Good luck, Monica! Hopefully, maybe there's something to be done. But no matter what, I know you love Amber and will do what's best for her! Your fuzz pack will be w/you in heart and in mind!! Let us know!

Good Evening, my FuZZ Family!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
@@@ oh, is my head spinning @@@!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Any of you ever have one of those days that you feel busy ALL DAY, then stop to look around you 8 hours later, and wonder "Wha??"

Yup, I'm there t'day...

Oh Deb, Summer is so BEAUTIFUL! I loved Rosie's description of her "coffee stain" lip- I like to think of it as "Moca Java Latte Double Shot with Silk Soy and Extra Foam". (I lick MY chops when I get one of those bad boys-Summer only missed a spot! Or as my mom would say if I didn't use my napkin properly: "You savin' that for later?!")

ML I left a post for you on Oreo's site really early this am...

Karen, Cairo sounds like cotton candy!! Love it when you said you can't keep her far enough away from the camera to get a pic because she wants you to pet her!
OOohhhh, to soak up all that love!!!

Deb and I are playing world-class travel agents for these two ginger FuZZballs! I can't wait for Brutus to meet Emily! I may have mentioned it before, but I adopted Emily away from her 2 brothers (now I feel rotten!) when she was 5 weeks old, so she never got to finish playing roughhouse with them, and then I got really sick and she couldn't play rough with me (first kitten IN MY LIFE that I didn't allow to shred my arms apart!). Brutus seems like an "In Your Face/Whiskers" kinda fuzz...it's gonna be a thing of beauty! And Lady Marigold can sit back and watch for awhile from my lap!

I need a cuppa joe, all that talk about Moca Java - well, y'know...

Will Be Back...

A Big FuZZ Family Welcome To
Larry! Your experiences with your pets and homeopathic medicine mirrors that of my former music teachers' experience with her Yorkshire Terriers. She's been following Homeopathic therapies for decades really (such a Bohemian!) and she regularly uses Bach remedies on the higher strung dogs. I wish I new what she's forgotten about it all, but your testimonials are really staggering!
Will look up that website for sure!
Gee, always nice to have a new Fuzz Packer!
Chat Later!!

Anonymous said...

I wish I knew if we had a "homeopathic vet" in town. We take our kitties to a Cat Clinic--cats only. And though that seems better than a all-pets vet, I still feel vaguely like it's all too mainstream/"western"-style medicine. My same distrust and dislike of mainstream people medicine.

Larry, our Maddie just got booster vaccines yesterday. Our cats are indoor/enclosed-backyard/front-yard-on-leash. Would your vet still recommend shots for them since they aren't 100% indoor?

Oscar the Puppy Cat said...

Monica, I'm thinking about you. Amber knows how very much you love her!

Welcome to the pack, Larry! I find what you said to be very interesting and as like Rose said, will look up that site! I've never used holistic medicine but do believe that it works for many people, and I guess for animals too. I also read an article in a news magazine, not long ago, that was titled "Cat's, man's new best friend!" It says more men are now showing to have cats for a pet because of their independence and companionship. They're more relatable (SP?). I think it's really neat that they're finally getting the attention that they deserve. I do love dogs but aside from the few I've had, I much rather have cats. No offence to our doggy friends, Amber, Sammy, and all the rest of our fuzzy family! Remember, I've had two dogs myself!

Donna, any news from the vet on Kona's blood work?

Danni, any luck getting Jake to drink his water?

OK Fuzz Family, I was looking over that resort again and I really think we can do it! We can have our Fuzz Family Reunion!!! We just need to set a date that can give everyone a chance to plan and save!!! We can bring families or it can just be us, either way, it's going to be a blast!!!!

Oscar the Puppy Cat said...

Monica, I'm thinking of you and Amber! She knows how very much you love her!

Welcome Larry, it's always so wonderful to say hello to someone new to the Pack!

Donna, how's Kona? Did his blood work come back yet?

Danni, how's Jake? Is he drinking more water?

OK Fuzz Family! I've been looking over the site of that resort in Missouri. I think we can do it! I think we can have our Fuzz Family Reunion! All we have to do is set a date that will give everyone a chance to plan and save.
We can bring families or it can just be the Pack!!! Lets do it fuzzies! What do you think?!

Oscar the Puppy Cat said...

OOPS, thought my first comment was thrown out!!! (looking sheepish)

I just called the vet, again, and the Dr who wants to talk to me still isn't available. First time, she had just one into a meeting. This time, it's an emergency to "unblock a cat" (their words :-)). So I still don't know anything yet.

Actually, this is my one other complaint about this office--it's very difficult to talk to a vet. Is that normal pretty much everywhere? Sigh.

The Royals and Gentleman Beau said...

Donna, I wonder...do you have a health food market in your area? I find a lot of fliers, mags and info in the one here in town. If there's a "Whole Foods Market" or one of the larger markets, all the better - I'm always picking up fliers, and I'm thinking that may help start a network to lead you to a homeopathic or Holistic practitioner (Vet and or human!)
The BEST family doctor we EVER had was an Osteopath.

Anonymous said...

Thanks to everyone for their compliments -- I'll convey them to Summer. Rosie...yours were great! Yes indeed, she is spayed! Had it done right after she finished nursing Spats & Sassy. I think that the kitty you can "kinda" see is Spats! Still working out the details on getting Brutus & Marigold to Rose. Looks like a limo ride for them from the airport! Nothing like going first class! :)

Anonymous said...

OK, so maybe Kona just was feeling a bit low for a day or so or something and I over-reacted. I just got off the phone with the vet and there is nothing obvious from the bloodwork. That's good I guess.

One of 3 kidney tests had a slightly higher-than-average value but that could have been due to his being slightly dehydrated, if he hadn't had anything to drink for awhile prior to us taking him in.

Doing a urinalysis and maybe an x-ray would be the next steps to take.

But even by yesterday, he seemed much more normal. So we decided to just monitor him closely--continue watching his eating habits and watching his weight. This vet seemed to think if he dropped below 11 pounds (from his as-of-yesterday 11.8), then we might want to raise our concerns and do the urine and x-ray.

Since there isn't anything obvious in his bloodwork and he seems to be better anyway, I'd really rather not subject him to sitting in the cage in the vet's office waiting to produce a urine sample, unless it gets absolutely necessary. Poor Maddie and Wiley have both had to do that and if we can postpone or spare Kona from having to do it, then so much the better for him.

So for now, I guess we can close this chapter on Kona-boy.

Summer is a beauty. i love her colors and markings. she looks full of cattitude too! lol...

Anonymous said...

Deb, Summer is beautiful. Its nice that you were able to keep her little fuzz family together. Can't wait to see Sassy & Spats. I had a calico once, but she couldn't get along with the other cats in the household. She was kind of a bully. I had to find her a new home where she was the only cat.

Karen C.-I just looked at the pictures of Cairo. She looks a lot like my Oreo, only I think she has more white than black. That tummy needs a rub!

KC and the Giggleman Kitties said...

Hi, know it's late, but has anyone heard from Captain Casper's Mom Monica???? Really anxious to know how Amber is doing.

Karen, those photos of Cairo are beautiful. That first photo, she is a beauty. Kathleen is so lucky you found her and got her, just can't believe someone didn't snatch her up first thing. Glad that didn't happen.

GOOD NEWS FUZZ PACK!! I left with a heavy heart and I returned with a much lighter one. The ultrasound showed no tumor, the kidneys were normal. The urine sample she took showed that blood is definately going into the bladder but she can't understand why Amber isn't getting worse or the bleeding hasn't stopped. She did say that cockers and cocker mix dogs are a breed known for bleeding problems. She's going to do more extensive study with the urine she took and get back to me tomorrow. That should show for sure that she doesn't have a tumor. Next step might be bloodwork. Thank you all so much for your thoughts and prayers. I'm a happy Momma right now.

Larry, could there be a sight for dogs?? I will be checking out that cat sight. My husband has started talking to Cleo, he calls her bright eyes. I know there are men out there that like cats. My Dad was one and so is our Son. My Dad loved dogs too, but our son is strictly cats. So glad to have you aboard Larry. Hope to hear more from you.

KC and the Giggleman Kitties said...

Monica, I am so happy for you and Amber. What great news.
If the blood is entering the bladder, could it be a stone or damage from a stone?
Anyway, now I'm happy, I can go to sleep.

Oscar the Puppy Cat said...

Monica, I'm so happy to hear your news. I know she's not out of the woods yet but now there seems to be more hope! I just love how wonderful and supportive everyone is on this site! Amber, Oscar and Simon send their best!!!

Anonymous said...

No Sandy (vet) found no stones. She said they would have showed up in the ultrasound. She said she really doesn't know where the bleeding is coming from. She drew a dogs urinary system along with the female productive system and it could be coming from there somewhere also, even though she has been spayed. The productive system somehow joins to the urethra just before exciting the body. You would have to see the drawing to see how it works. That's why she drew it so I could see what she was talking about.

Yes, everyone on this site are all so caring. Thank you Oscar and Simon, will pass it on to Amber.
