Buddy

This is my son, Christian's, cat Buddy. He found the kitten when he was about 4 months old. This was just about the time that I got my service dog, Buddy. Since we live 500 miles away from one another, he didn't have my dog's name stuck in his mind, yet, and so the coincidence of the same name. Christian brought both his cats when he came home for Christmas. My Buddy wasn't sure what to make of them. The cats made themselves right at home, though. -Valinda

GOOD MORNING FUZZ FAMILY!!!!!!!!!!

Buddy-cat is very handsome and I love the picture of him laying under the Christmas tree, my cats do that too.

Funny how the name was given to two beloved furry friends in the same family. That ESP think again.

Good morning! Hi cute Buddy! That is so funny about you and your son using the same name! Buddy, you could be my Benji's twin!

Well, I am still feeling better, although we had a pretty traumatic night last night. My younger son fell in our driveway playing last night and after him getting real quiet, turning white as a sheet and then finally sick to his stomach, we decided it was best to take him the the ER!! He did have a mild concussion, but he started feeling better during the long wait to see a doctor and she didn't feel he needed a head scan, just to watch him carefully. SO! A long night, but he's ok and that's all that matters.

Glad your son wasn't injuried seriously. Even though my children are grown, I remember several scary rides to ER and know you probably didn't get any sleep last night-hope you can have someone watch the boys for a bit and you can nap with the cats.

Emma's Kat said...

He's fine this morning. It was kinda scary though! I always told everyone, he would probably be the one to send me to the ER. My older son was always and is a thinker. He usually thinks before he does. Never been (::knock on wood!::) to the ER. It's an experience I don't want to revisit any time soon. But we went to CHKD ER and they were great!

oh Buddy you are sooooo handsome! i just love the stripes and pink nose.

how funny that you and your son chose the same pet names. i wonder what his other cat looks like, and i wonder how they got along with your dog. service dogs are usually very good with other animals, so i'm sure it was all good.

What a good looking boy you are, Buddy! You look very much like my dear Thomas(at the Bridge). I think we also have a good idea how HRH Brutus, Prince of Fuzziness will look when grown.

ROSE--Thank you for the pictures, they are just great!! Brutus is a VERY busy boy, I see. Does he climb legs, or just tackle ankles? Did sweet Marigold get put on the fridge? That looks like it is one of Queen Emily's "spots," judging by the look she is giving Marigold.

HELP!! Rose asked me to forward the pictures to MOMSBUSY! I have all the email addresses, but Krafty Kat doesn't have our screen names with them. KAT, ML, HELP!!

Good Morning Fuzz Family!!!!!

Buddy you are a very handsome boy.
i just love the look, can we open them yet.

Kat- glad to hear your younger son is feeling better. I hope you can get some rest today.

Hope everyone is doing fine.

Good Morning, everyone.

First of all, Buddy is so cute. I love orange cats, think I'm partial to 'em. He has such a beautiful face, pretty markings, cute little pink nose and ears.

Everyone, I am getting ready to email the Fuzz Pack Family Tree, 1st Draft. It will be in HTML format, so you can pull it up in your web browser and have access to the live links for email addresses. Eventually there will be live links to the blogsites, if available.

Please email me with any corrections, additions, etc. One thing we've noticed is there are often two email addresses. If so, please indicate which is primary.

I've also got the beginnings of another list with our cat names. Someday soon -- after a miracle happens -- these will be linked together. There will be other lists as needed, such as address and mailing info, family info, just whatever we want. Heck, it's our database!

Kat, hope your little one is better today and you can get some rest. That must have been quite a scare. And having to check him every few hours!

Deb, hope you are feeling better as well. You must now hold a world title for shots! Ha-ha.

And Danielle, we all have our fingers and toes crossed for you tomorrow night. Go get that car!!!

Finally, sorry for the long post, but it's not my fault. I caught it from Rose!

KC and the Giggleman Kitties said...

Oh, one thing more.

Catnip Anonymous. How funny you should mention that.

Yesterday I was cleaning and Missy jumped in a storage box. She scrounged around and found one of those old bags that held ground catnip. She literally took it apart to get every last crumb of catnip.

She "snorts" catnip. She looked so funny, with the green crumbs around her nose.

Uh oh, now I've got MPD. But that's not my fault, either. I caught that from Rose, too!

KC and the Giggleman Kitties said...

MPD to the max. Still not my fault. I'll send Momsbusy a copy of Rose's pictures right now!

KC and the Giggleman Kitties said...

Come on, somebody post, break up my advanced chronic MPD!

But I'm on a roll here. Do we need a standard set of links for our blogs so we don't leave anyone out? I'll get on that just as soon as I email you all with the FFFT (email and cat info).

Okay, last one, I promise.

Emma's Kat said...

Yes, thank you ML for all you do!!

caspersmom said...

Yes ML, thank you for everything and helping me get casper's blog site up. It's beginning to be fun doing it.

Buddy, looks like Santa brought you, so handsome by the Christmas tree. Valinda, you and your son must be on the same wave length with the naming of your fuzzies. Dogs can be fuzzies too. Amber is.

Kat, did you have to stay up and keep and eye on your son? We took both our sons to the ER when they were younger. Definitely scary.

Hope Kathleen is feeling better. So glad you are feeling better Deb. I might be next in line with shots. I have to have two allergy shots every three weeks now. I have been getting shots since 1972. Allergies were suppose to be outgrown. Ha! Wish somebody would tell my system that. I am able to live with my fuzzies with them, so on with the shots.

That's O.K.ML. Sometimes I have that MPD problem too. But have to check with you later, have to get the house vacuumed. Later!!

KC and the Giggleman Kitties said...

Okay, group, the emails are sent.
Hopefully it went the way I intended! The potential for major mess-up is infinite.

Deb, sorry I'm babbling (and it's not even lunchtime). I meant a list of Fuzz Pack blogsites, like Missy's and Kat's, that you could just click on to go there. Just like our clickable list of email addresses.

*-*-* WARNING: Semi-technobabble Alert *-*-*
Then, for those of us with blogsites, we could have a standard, pretyped list of links we could just cut and paste into the HTML code template. If you don't understand this yet, you're lucky, enjoy it.

Okay, now I'm going to remain calm and sit here and await a barrage of email replies. Yikes.

ML

PS: Deb, had to laugh at your evil plan!

Hi Danielle, hello everyone!

I'm laughing at the catnip stories. momsbusy: Kona is our major catnip junkie. He does exactly like you describe. We'll sprinkle three patches of catnip in different areas on the floor and Kona tries to hog them all, chasing Maddie and Wiley away from theirs. Well, Maddie will argue back a bit before giving in.

I'm taking today and tomorrow off work since it's soooooo slow for me at work. Today I was walking Maddie and she saw a bunny and pulled the leash out of my hand. To her surprise, and my dismay, she caught the bunny :-( I picked Maddie up and got her to drop the bunny but it was obviously injured. It couldn't run away. I think it hurt either its leg or its back when Maddie "tackled" it. I felt so bad. I finally just lined one of our cat carriers with towels, put on some gardening gloves and grabbed another towel and pretty easily caught the little guy and got it into the carrier. It's been raining here and the little bunny was soaked.

I first took it to the closest vet but they, apparently, aren't "authorized" to treat wild animals. But they called a place in the county that does. NWR&R (Northwest Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation) couldn't spare anyone to come into town to pick up the bunny so it was a no-brainer decision for me to take it out to them. It's only 10-12 miles out in the county. I left them a $20 donation. Not much, but I hope every little bit helps. If I ever won a lottery I think I would donate a lot to people like them.

I hope the bunny does OK. I'm not mad at Maddie or anything. She was just acting on her little kitty instincts.

Thanks for the email list of names and kitties. BTW, my full name is Donna Rode.

Hello Fuzz Family! Hello Buddy!!! I'm so happy to meet you! I love the orange tabby's, think OSCAR!!!!
You are truly a handsome cat AND, you match your canine counterpart! Buddy and Buddy, both are beautiful and orange and very much loved!

Hi Donna, I've been worndering about you too! You're so sweet to help that bunny! And sweet Maddie, this must have really confused her.

Kat, so happy that Jude is feling better! I was really worried last night!

Kathleen, Bebop is a cute name, it's a lot of fun!

Hope all is well with everyone. Deb, I'll be thinking about you while you're getting your shots. Danielle, I am so excited and will keep my fingers crossed!

Buddy is a cute fella! He does look a little guilty, like he was about to open the presents. He looks like a big cat.

Donna-That's great what you did for the bunny. My other cat (whose pictures I just emailed to Kat) hunts a lot. She usually hunts at night, so by the time I see them the next morning it is always too late to save them. Usually its a mole or bird, but she did leave a baby bunny on the porch once. That morning, I got up and fed the animals, but I didn't have my glasses on and it was dark outside. I'm pretty blind without my glasses or contacts. I could see that something was there, but I had to lean down really close to see what it was. I let out a squeak and jumped back. Let's just say it was a rather gruesome sight. I disposed of the animal before my daughter could see it (she has a bunny love thing going on!) But, its like you said--the cat was just doing what comes natural to her. I couldn't be mad at her.

ML--As I said, I did just email Chick's pics to Kat. So I'm not breaking the rule.

ML, Kat, & Deb--What's all this talk of evil plans and secrets that has made Karen C. all whiny? Is mischief afoot?

Kat--Thank goodness your son was okay! Trips to the ER are always worrisome. My dad says you never stop worrying about your kids. He says, it only gets worse as time goes on because they have kids and then you worry about your grankids.

I know this is a long post, but I'm making up for yesterday.

Anonymous said...

Kathleen--hope you are feeling better. I think Bebop is a cute name. If you wanted a flower name, I was thinking of Jasmine, or Yasmin. They are two diffent versions of the same name. I looked it up on the internet and both are flowers in the olive family. Both are of Persian origin--and Turkey is part of that region.

Okay, now I've got MPD. Its catching!

Anonymous said...

I was thinking of Jasmine, because it is one of my favorite scents. Also, I always thing of that old song "Summer breeze, makes me feel fine; Blowing like the jasmine in my mind."--It goes something like that.

Anonymous said...

Summer is a cute name too.

Okay, I am walking away from my computer now. No more posts tonight I promise. Unless someone else posts first.

Anonymous said...

Deb--I forgot your cat was Summer. I should have gotten out my list that ML sent to check my suggestions against it.

Anonymous said...

I've always loved that song. Its so peaceful and calming. It gives me such a vivid picture in my mind of a meadow full of wildflowers blowning in the breeze. Plus I love the scent of jasmine and lavender. I have candles, shower gel, lotion, shampoo and conditioner...

Oscar the Puppy Cat said...

"Summer Breeze" brings back some great memories! But then so does "Lime in the Coconut" and "Let the Sun Shine"!

Sean is doing well! They Neurosurgeon was a little concerned that Sean was so sleepy and wanted us to stay at the hospital over night. I had a three of my kids, 2,4, and 6. There was no I way I could do that! So we talked and decided that he could go home. His ventricles look good, the swelling has gone down, and we have to go back in two weeks anyway. So he said OK and to page him if anything went wrong. I think Sean is just catching up. Hellloooo, the kid just had BRAIN surgery, it's understandable if he's a little sleepy at the moment. But I do like this doctor and I know he's just concerned because we live so far away from the hospital. Children's in Little Rock is a wonderful hospital!!!

Now I'm intrigued, what are you teasing Karen C about? Deb, email me!

Emma's Kat said...

Deb!! I'm waiting!!!

ML - ?? I got a good post too if you think back?? Huh?

The Royals and Gentleman Beau said...

...pretending I never read anything about any secret, I write...

Oh, ML! I missed a Kodak moment didn't I! I can stage it tomorrow...if I can find all the toys! I did get a picture of Marigold helping herself and nosing in the plastic bag Deb had packed them in...it was like she could smell through the plastic one she wanted pretty bad, and I opened the bag, and she crawled into it and smelled around in ernest, pulling out a glitter mouse. Marigold LOVES toys. My health aide goes about and picks all of them up and puts them in this little tangerine box I have, and I'll go and throw around the most popular ones, but after batting them around some, Marigold will crawl into the box and nose around for something else, even going so far as to 'dig' for something! When I first put their bed down, the both of them puffed up like Halloween cats and stood sideways to it! They slowly inched their way towards it, eventually crawling inside! I think Deb said Momma Grace had used the bed too, maybe it confused them? I got a picture of Brutus drinking from the bathroom faucet! He managed not to slide in this time!

Kathleen, maybe you can try the aromatherapy item PetSmart and Petco sells to calm cats for Cairo? I feel bad for Rosie, that she feels she has to stay in a corner...Does anyone remember, we were discussing this item awhile ago, to calm anxious cats? I heard it's effective. I feel like snooping around...this is a common thing, to bring in a second pet...Deb's Vet sent a copy of an article up with the babies that covered that topic...I don't have the fax feature set up on my printer, but I can scan things in, I'll see tomorrow if a decent copy can be scanned in and I'll e-mail it to you.
Does anyone know where I can find a nice picture of a Llama? I have a joke I want to play on David...when he was a kid, his grandmother took him to a petting zoo with his cousins, etc, and everyone got to pet the Llama, and when it was Dave's turn, it spat on him! Consequently, Llama's are not high on the list of his Favorite Things...I'd like to e-mail him a screensaver or something!

...making them think I have totally forgot the secret...

Good night, y'all!

Emma's Kat said...

And I know how to change your blog name, remember, I had to do that for Missy's site, otherwise it would still be called TestSite or something like that. We'll figure it out tomorrow.

Sleep good, everyone and don't think about the secrets....!

I wish you all, who are stil awake, could hear the extra cute little mews coming from behind me!! One of our other fosters had to go out of town, so I am babysitting a 9 week old foster of hers. He was supposed to be semi-ferral, having bounced off the bathroom walls at the other fosters house. He has been nothing but sweet since he's been here! I have put him in the crate since he was supposed to be so scared and all. He is a tuxedo boy with a little smudge of white on his FB's. They nicknamed him Solomon. He has golden brown eyes and is the sweetest thing! Rolling over for tummy rubs and purring up a storm. I'll get pix tomorrow!

Victor Tabbycat said...

Kathleen - Grr et al asked *me and Mom* to give you advice on cats getting along. Here's Mom's thoughts... I'm no expert since B&V are still arguing after 9 months together, but maybe I'll suggest something you haven't tried. I'm still open to suggestions! Briefly, Bonnie is 9 and an aggressive, assertive, Attack Tabby (declawed). Her favorite words are hiss and growl. Victor was 8 months old when he adopted me in Oct and couldn't be sweeter, when he's not making trouble by climbing, plucking things and dropping them (clawed but never scratches). This quiet cat burglar never, ever growls or hisses back at Bonnie, but recently he started meowing softly to her. We honestly feared Bonnie would try to kill a kitten, but she's afraid to touch him. She wacks him as thou she's afraid he has cooties. They look serious and make a lot of noise, but no one gets hurt - ever! Anyway, take my advice with a grain of salt!!!

I've been reading Cat vs Cat, which says it's best to introduce cats slowly and 1 sense at a time; let them hear each other thru the door, then take a Rosie-scented towel to Cairo and vice-versa. Feed Rosie right outside Cairo's room. Hissing and growling is normal - they're cats, not dogs, so not pack animals. It sounds like they're already roaming the house, but you might separate them when you're out, with a baby gate (V goes right over, B doesn't) or door propped open a paw-width (we don't have any to do this). If you can give them even territory this way, great. Each gets private food, water, and litterbox. It's only temporary.

You want the times they spend together to be positive; Bonnie needs to think "When I'm with Victor, good things happen," so I sit between B&V to feed them treats. If she was more playful, I'd try playing with both at the same time (two wand toys) or together, but B's not into that just yet. B's attention is focused on V when he's near. B is recently allowing V closer to her for treats; he can be next to her without getting hissed at (B begs, V spins - pics eventually!). Their food dishes are in different rooms, tho they eat from either. V chases the first full bowl, upsetting B if it's in her spot. I put a bowl down for V first, then B and she waits nicely. The litter boxes are both in the laundry room and again, they each use either. They share the water fountain. The common theme is, if you see they are having trouble sharing something, make sure there are two and they are separated. Keep visibility and escape routes in mind; don't let Cairo sneak up on Rosie while she's eating or pottying.

Give Rosie lots of attention. The Book recommends trying to distract V when he's about to pounce B. Not easy - he thinks she'd be the bestest cat toy. Don't interfere with their fights unless you see teeth and claws. Even the few times Bonnie has played chase with Victor, she growls and fusses! They'll figure out their territory. Eventually.

Well, Kim, you're in on this now, right. Both Karen C and Rose?

So let's hear a few hums of "dirty little secret"...!

But actually, Kim should be finding something in her mailbox today. Hmmmm, wonder what it could be?????

AH, my computer tells me that lazy bones herself just got online! It was a late night for a few naughty little girls!

Oh, I already know what's coming too me though! I'm still SOOO excited!!!! All I'll say is this, Deb, ML, you're more alike than you know!!! But, I shall wait, anxiously, I mean patiently and will never the less by very surprised. Talk about a run on sentence!!!

Kim,
Don't tell me I told you about your surprise already????

I hate it when I do that. I'm so bad at keeping secrets.

Oscar the Puppy Cat said...

ML, if it makes you feel better then NO, you didn't tell me! I'm "enlightened " and guessed on my own! Yeah, that's it, that's my story! "Enlightened!"

Oscar the Puppy Cat said...

It's OK Riquel, I'm often lost myself when it comes to this group!

OMG! I just thought about a commercial that suddenly made me laugh so hard!!! Do you know the Reese Pieces commercial that has the guy with the super long beard and he's applying for a job? I love the line at the end when he says "experience, yeah." Something about that just all of a sudden made me die with laughter! My kids think I'm crazy!!!!

I guess you'll never know if I'm telling the truth or not. The Mailman has not come yet so that theory is out. I left you a clue as to if I really knew or not. Shall I repeat it? Deb, you and ML are more alike in your thinking than you know. Does this help?

Good morning my FuZZ Family!

Good morning again, Buddy old pal!
On second viewing, you look as confused as I feel...you've been hangin' around for a bit, have you heard anything about some sort of, oh, seret thing??? Just wondered.

Just got through finishing my post on the Royals' site. Does anyone else find that it seems to take forever to type an entry on Blogger, or is it me because I've been distracted???

NO COFFEE???! brb

Aaahhhh! Mo' bettah...

Now, where was I? Oh, know what?
I feel a need for some toast with Orange Marmalade...Buddy gave me the idea...

chat later!
