Cairo
"I adopted Cairo 2 weeks ago through Karen C. who fell in love with her at a shelter in San Pedro, she was on death row. She is a black and white Turkish??? tripod. She has amazing speed and is a lover-brushing, petting, head butting. She loves to watch the birds and get in the frig. She and Rosie have had their moments with a couple of swipes and growls. Did find them on the bed next to one another once. She has the adorable habit of pulling her food out of her bowl with her paw onto the floor. Once Rosie gains some confidence, I think the two will do just fine. Still searching for a new name for Cairo-just doesn't fit. Suggestions are always welcome." -Kathleen

She certainly is a beautiful girl and I'm very glad to hear that she is adapting well to your home. I love happy stories like this. I know she will give you years of loving affection (and Rose will do just fine).
Kat, hope you are feeling better.
Danielle, hope you got a good report on Jake.
Good morning Fuzz family!!!!
Look at that beautiful specimen of feline up there. She and Jake have something in common.....they both pull the food out of the bowl onto the ground then eat it. Why do they do that it is soooo odd?
Jake is doing great. I got hold of the vet and they said as long as his stitches are gone and it looks good he doesn't need to come back. YEAH no more vet trips!!!! Knock on wood I hope.
Hello Cairo! I love this lady so much! She looks so fluffy and from all that I've heard, just such a love bug! How about Pocahontas for a name? I know, silly, but I love distinguishing names! It's so good to see her gracing the page of the cat of the day!
How are you feeling today, Kathleen? I tried to post a comment to you last night but blogger kept throwing it out. I think I will email you later.
Danielle, I am so excited for you and Jake! What a fighter that cat is!!! He is one loved kitty!
Hello Fuzz Family, I hope all is well and those that are ill are recovering.
I thought I had seen this beautiful baby before, and then when I read the caption...she is a beauty. If you want to change her name, and she is Turkish, why not a Turkish name? I was looking up some names on the internet, and I found some pretty ones, there is Cana, which I read would be pronounced like Jana and it means beloved. There was Karli, which means covered in snow. She is a pretty girl.
A Turkish name for a Turkish Van, sounds good!
Before I forget, everyone, please check out the FUZZ FAMILY GET TOGETHER SITE. I need to a rough idea of who is going. You'll get all the info and there are places to comment. There is also a sign up list. So far we have a need or 8 or 9 rooms. It's important to know if we need more or less than 10, that is going to affect how we can book and the pricing. Anyway, Kat has a link. Please visit. As I get updates, I will post them! Let's work together to make this a successful gathering!
BTW, the official year for the get together is...2008!
Good morning! Hi pretty Cairo! Riquel! I love Cana, pronounced Jana!!! I hope Kathleen is able to see her today. I think I told her she'd be posted today. Hope she's feeling better! I know I am!! Yeah! I took the new antibiotic last night before bed and wow! I do feel so much better. Still coughing a little, but better! Yeah, for Jakey too! Tell him no more trips to the vet! I said so! lol
Good Morning, FuzzFamily.
How wonderful to see the lovely Ms. Cairo as Cat of the Day. Check out that close up to your left, Cairo's has amazing lips (Angelina Jolie has nothing on you, Cairo).
Riquel, what is Turkish for "Green Eyes"? I was trying to find that in Gaelic a few days ago for Kathleen.
Kathleen, hope you are feeling better.
Okay, now everyone, check out Missy's site. Think my installing Internet Explorer 7 (a beta version) may have corrected my display problems as well. Karen C made the discovery after having one at work with IE7 and one at home without (think that's it).
Read my post last night under Brewster. I am no longer having any problems, can even see Kat's little green Neko in the topleft corner of the screen.
This makes sense, since the bug was in Microsoft's product to begin with, everyone else was working around to correct it. Just be careful if you use online banking with Wells Fargo, per Karen C, IE7 would be incompatible. But so far so good.
Again, thanks to Victor Tabbycat and Jennifer for identifying the bug and saving me another six hours research, and to Karen C for the info about the new version of IE7 and her "extensive" testing at home and at work (he-hee).
We've got a great group here, think we could do anything!!!!
I looked up green eyes in Turkish, and it is yesil goz, with the 2 dots over the o in goz...that doesn't sound very pretty...
Good Morning Fuzz Family !!!!!!
Cairo, you are a very beautiful, and snuggly looking kitty.
Kathleen, I'm sure Rose and Cairo will work out there lil kitty differences soon.
I hope everyone is doing fine.
cairo is such a pretty girl. since she does enjoy racing around she must not have any idea of her "handicap". the power of the mind and positive thinking. we humans need a bit more of that.
kathleen, hope you are doing better. follow dr.'s orders.
riquel, what is the turkish word for "pretty" "pretty one" or "pretty girl"? everyone says she is so pretty.
kat, glad to hear you found something that would kick the snot out of that bronchitis/whatever you have/had.
Lisa & Ella, Is Smokey now part of your family? I know it is hard for you to take time on the computer but I was wondering if you were able to pick him up and if so, how Ella is doing?
pretty in Turkish is sevimli,
I don't think I like that either...
don't like it either. what about "cat", "three", "lover"?
I dunno. I kind of like Cairo for a name. Was it the name she started out with, do you know? Or just one the shelter gave her? She's very beautiful.
Since Kathleen mentioned wanting a floral name, what is "flower" in Turkish? Or a special flower that grows in Turkey (besides Poppies).
I had voted for Lily, thought it was the perfect name, what is that in Turkish?
Think Cairo was the name the shelter gave her.
Perhaps the Turkish language is not as beautiful spoken, as say French or Spanish.
Akasma is a white climbing rose...but that is all I can find
Oh, how I love Cairo! When Karen C sent her pictures out, I downloaded them, and my favorite is the one on the left-isn't that a beautiful picture for a screensaver? I rather like Cairo for a name, given the Turk language sounding so rough...I wonder what Turkish baby Names are?! Whatever the choice, it has to flow as softly as Cairo's persona flows off those pics!
By the way, folks...I'm working on the Blog today. Hopefully by the end of the day I'll have sorted out what I have to do to post pictures, because when I enter what I think is a file name for a photo (ex. 022_19A) it says it's invalid...perhaps I didn't switch it over to my hard drive completely, and it's still in Kodak Easy Share??? ML???!
ANYONE?!
You are the bestest friends!!!!
MPD to the MAX here, today!!!
i think Cairo is a beautiful cat and a beautiful name! maybe just wait to see if she earns a nickname, and then you can call her both names? i know some of my cats have multiple names but i just use their original name on the vet records...lol
i love her pink nose and she has lovely markings. i think she's just so glad you saved her she'd probably be fine with any name!
the two Turkish names that I proposed first, were Turkish baby girl names. If she gets a name change I think I would be partial to Cana, pronounced Jana, after all she is your beloved right? :o)
ooooo, so pretty! I love when cats sit in that position!
Good luck on the name search. She looks like a bella to me :o)
Hi Cairo. That is a lovely and interesting name. But it is not very girly now is it? I bet your Momma will come up with a purrty name that will match your purrty face.
Hope efurryone is doing well.
Rose, you can use the browse feature of the blogger to select a photo right off your hard drive, without any typing at all. If you need help with that, just email me.
First I would save the Kodak EasyShare photos to my hard drive, like on the Desktop. You can probably access them through the blogger directly at Kodak EasyShare, I'm just not familiar with that.
Again, email if needed. We want to see Royal Fuzzys.
Also, purrs and cheers to KAREN C.
She rescued Cairo within a day or so of being "put down". Then she and Cairo embarked on a lengthy road trip to deliver Cairo to her 4-EVER home with Kathleen and Rosie the Rose.
What a wonderful story!
Oh, this is probablty absurd, but a feminine version of Cairo, maybe "Caira"? thought I'd put it out there...
I just e-mailed everyone some new pics of mine kittehs, I'm in there also and my Health Aide, Mayra, who they ALL find great fun to follow and get in her way!
Hope they make it! I'm so backwards, it's so sad...;-)
Cairo, you are one sweet and lovable looking kitty. Was so glad when Karen C and Kathleen saved you.
I'm sorry, I'm with Kitty above. I like the name of Cairo. Gives her an exotic feel. She is so pretty.
I like Bella! It mean beautiful in Italian. I think that it was Manny's Momma came up with that one.
I remember her story from earlier, but hearing it again, I started to tear up. I tried to pursuade my husband to let me take but he said no more, and she was to far away. But alls well that ends well, and she found a beautiful home.
OH, I have a suggestion from a Fuzz member that said maybe an email about signing up would work out better for everyone who is viewing this at work. My email address is triskart@hotmail.com or triskart@cox.net. If I don't have your email address and you'd like updates on my progress instead of reading it on the FUZZ FAMILY GET TOGETHER site, just let me know. On a great note, we so far have a need for over ten rooms. Still keep posting or emailing me so that I can get as close to an idea as possible. I will be talking to the lodge either today or on Friday. Sean has his follow up CT and visit with his Neurosurgeon tomorrow. He's doing muc better, no pain medication so far today!
I am so glad to hear that things are going well today for everyone. Sean, Jake, Kat, and I hope Kathleen is feeling better also. Have to pray it stays that way.
Rose - ::sniffle:: I did not get any pictures! ::sniffle::
Everyone has got to check out Cute Overload!! Sooo cute and funny!
no pictures here!8(
Where are my pictures, Rose????
Cairo is just beautiful, whatever her name is!
Cute Overload is just that, especially the sprawled Bun.
Pictures, I didn't get pictures, ROSE!! What's going on?!? I know, the computer ate your homework(teehee)!
HHHMMM? Picture?
Rose? Did I miss out on pictures?
I got pictures. Maybe the puters are just slow.
Yeah, I got my pix from Rose! Lol, ya gotta be careful what you say around Kat's Cat about pix, huh!? Love the fridge pix of Brutus! What a silly boy! And Rose, it's so good to put a face w/your name! I can't wait to meet everyone!
I love this kitty, and am so glad you adopted her. She is so pretty.
I got pictures, great pictures from Rose. If anyone needs them, let me know, I'll forward them.
So good to "see" you, Rose. I can't wait to meet everyone either. We are going to have so much fun!!!
Tomorrow I'll get back to the Fuzz Family Tree. I've gotten quite a few addresses to put in there now.
Have we heard from Deb today? I'm missing her!
Kathleen, Cairo is just beautiful!!! She does look Turkish! So glad to "meet" her. We have a tripod that is now 7...his speed is amazing too!!! Nothing slows these babies down! BeBop's webpage and his story can be found at www.cathappy.com/bebop.htm
I like the name Cairo...it is very impressive, but if it doesn't really fit her, I know you'll come up with something that is purrrrfect!
Purrs from all at Cathappy!
Kathleen, pictures on their way...!
ML, I need Pics too! Rose, you email me and don't include pictures?! Shame on you girl!!! LOL
My comment didn't post!
ML, can you send them to me too?
Rose, now emailed me today and you DIDN'T include pictures?!!!!
Kim and Kathleen, I'm SO sorry! Kathleen, I have to add your
e-mail address to my list, and Kim, I dunno WHAT happened!!!!
ML, T-h-a-n-k Y-o-u for the online tutorial! I truly believe I can follow that...right at this moment, my body's tired. I don't know why, but I've been quite fatigued this past month. My Metabolic Internist took 10 tubes of blood for a slew of tests...
He thinks my protein levels and stuff might be off, so we'll see...
NO EXCUSES!!! I WILL HAVE A BLOG, SO HELP ME!!! (help me alot!!thanks over and over!!!)
chat later
Rose, when you get ready, just let me know. It's like everything else on a computer, it's really easy once you know how.
I numbered them so you can refer to any number where you get stuck.
Kim, did you get photos of Rose & the Royals? I will send you the "photo tutorial", it's not much.
And it isn't Rose's fault about the email addresses, I've got to get moving on this FFT (Fuzz Family Tree). I'm not sure yet if I have everyone's email addresses or not.
I'll get the email portion out tomorrow. Remember, none of this info is going to be available online. Maybe later, we can have an area "for members only", out of the public area.
What a gorgeous cat!
I love the name Iris.
Kathleen, how about (Keeva)- it's a irish baby name. I don't remember what it means though. It's what I plan on naming the next kitty i get or if i have a daughter. I just thought I would throw that out at yah.
Hey!
Wanna see my blog???
Check it out!!!
FEEDBACK, PLEASE!!
(thank you, ML!!!)
BTW why am I the only one that has a trash can on my comment??? Just commented on Rose's site and there's one there also???
Well, I had hoped Rosie would make a comment on Cairo's photo showing her "Angelina" lips. Guess she doesn't know what she missed.
Night all.
