Datsun

Datsun was found in a Taipei park about a year and a half ago. He was quite small and missing half of his tail but he was and still remains very healthy. He's an independent cat who likes to play man of the house. His best love ... sleeping ... especially if he can sleep under covers. If he's not sleeping, he's up running around like a wild Indian ... loves to play aggressively. His dislikes ... taking direction from his owner ... this causes a bit of a whine. As he gets older, he seems to be more tolerant of the abundance of love I throw his way. -Jenn @ www.groovegrrrrrl.blogspot.com

~Be sure to check out the Fuzz Family Get Together site!! If interested sign up so Kim can get an idea of how many rooms we will need. Signing up doesn't mean that it is set in stone you are coming, just trying to get an idea of how many might be coming! It's gonna be fun, so check the site out!~

he may not actually be missing part of his tail -- he looks like a Japanese Bob to me. It's an old breed of cat.

Whuchevr, he's a cutie.

Datsun, you are a doll. You have the very sweetest little face. Love your "glamour" shot. Your mommy is going to be so happy and surprised to get home and find out her baby is a Star! Of course, I suspect you already were her "star".

Well, Fuzz Pack, some very good news. You may or may not know, I have a long association with HAL-PC, the Houston Area League of PC Users. Currently, I am the editorial manager of the HAL-PC Magazine. I have written articles for about ten years. HAL-PC is the largest (and best!) PC User group in the world. As such, our Magazine content is distributed to other user groups throughout the world.

I have been working on an article for the current issue -- on using Google Blogger. Also wanted to "show off" Missy and KC via Missy's blog, but didn't know if it would be appropriate.

And, of course, wanted to show Seven Lonely Kittens, and draw some attention to the homeless kittens, but again, didn't know how appropriate that would be in a magazine for computer users.

Well, I posed the questions to my wonderful publisher, Meredith. She responded by asking me if I would consider writing a monthly column on my cat blogging experiences! I was just overwhelmed! Not just one article, no, one a month.

And Kat, guess where these articles will focus? Right here where it all started, on Kat's Cat of the Day. Fuzz Pack, if you are ready, the world is waiting to meet you!

And for all the lonely little kittens, this will be another chance to get more exposure for them.

So excited for you ML! That will be fun to write about kitties every month. And thanks too for all the work you do and for including Kat's Cat in the article too. Thank you. :) Going to 7th Heaven now!

Thanks Claire, I am still overwhelmed. It should get us some great exposure. I am scheduled to meet with different people in this area who are into "cat blogging".

I want to ask that all of them take some time -- no, I think they have a responsibility -- to make the public aware of the plights of homeless kitties and the basic cause: the need to neuter and spay.

And it combines two of my biggest loves, computers & programming and CATS -- oh, and meeting people, esp cat people. You just can't get much better than that.

MORE GREAT NEWS...
Laurence Simon is a big cat blogger here in Houston and for the Houston Chronicle. I am supposed to contact and interview him for the Magazine.
Guess what? He just emailed me:
Mind if I promote your site on both Chron.com's Catcall as well as
Carnival of the Cats?
And if you've got any emergency adoptions, let me know and I'll get them up there ASAP.

Is this not wonderful!!!
I replied, YES, of course and sent a copy to Deb (SWMBO).
Yea, Fuzz Pack!!!

PS: Sorry I messed up and deleted the above comment. Can't type or think.

Great news and great work, maybe this will be a stepping stone to help many other cats and kittens find homes and promote the spaying and neutering of feral cats. Wonderful.

Hello Efurryone!

Datsun is a wonderful kitty. He is so adorable!!

Mary Lynn that is such great news! Any exposure to help homeless kitties and also to bring cat blogging to the MSM! YAY you go girl!

KC and the Giggleman Kitties said...

Well, that's what our npo is supposed to be about.

This monthly column should really give some exposure and opportunities.

I've found a vet nearby who will give a new cat owner two free office visits. If the new cat is a feral, he will donate a bit more. Now that he is "signed up", can take this to other vets and say, look what Dr. Wonderful over here is doing...! Hopefully it will start a trend.

Have found some low-cost neuters, but still not low enough. And several of the pet megastores have very low cost shots.

Hi, Datsun! I need to add you to my list of "dopplegangers" - kitties who look like me! Yur lucky to haf a good home now. Two speeds, huh? Like a Datsun car, either runnin or off. Purrs!

Oh, ML - that's great bout the writing. Among the kitty bloggers I know, Zeus an Mia are in Houston, too. Psychokitty Max was one of the firstest kitty bloggers an Timmothy Dickens has been bloggin almost furever, I fink.

Emma's Kat said...

That's so great ML! And sounds like another kitten was adopted too! Yea! I so agree w/you about spaying and neutering! It is so important. If people would just do it first thing and w/new kittens, we wouldn't have the problem of 100's of kittens needing homes! Most rescue groups, including the one I foster for, won't even let the cat or kitten be adopted until the it is fixed.

KC and the Giggleman Kitties said...

Deb mentioned something this morning about a second kitten being adopted from the Houston Cat Hospital. Yes!

Well, where are our Fuzz Pack tee shirts? I really really want one now. When I go out interviewing, etc. I want an FP or FFCA or a Kat's Cat tee shirt.

Datsun you look so sweet. I want to squeeze you... But promise I'll not let your head pop off.

It's great news that cat blogging will get some exposure. Hopefully we can help more kitties in need that way. I wish people would spay and neuter their cats, so that there is not so many unwanted cats.

Karen C. I'm sorry to hear that Jade is not eating-hopefully it isn't illness, maybe more from all that she has gone through, poor dear. My prayers go out for her to recover quickly.

KC and the Giggleman Kitties said...

We have a lot of cat experts posting here at Kat's and that is always their message -- spay & neuter.

Your phrase "unwanted cats" really hit me, as I'm sure most of us on Kat's.

I'm looking at little KC, she is so delicate, so beautiful, just a tiny masterpiece, like any other kitten. But so many meet such terrible fates, are unloved, never appreciated -- through no fault of their own.

Until we do something about the spay and neuter, we will always be fighting a losing battle trying to find homes for all the strays.

Kathleen - Oh no! She still going after RtR??! Going to check out Dee's comment now.

ML - Question: Could you give me the web address for the lady who you get your organic cat nip from? I have a friend who wants to order some from her. Thanks!

Hi Datsun what a handsome cat you are. Love your face, so much expression. Really like that short tail, too cool. At least you might not get it pounced on like a long tail kittie.

Congratulations ML. Isn't it great to do what you love the most. I am just amazed how far this has gone since March. The Lord knows the fuzz pack wants to help his little creatures and he is making a mighty way to do it. God Bless all.

Prayers going up for Jade, she is such a pretty cat. Hope she will be O.K.

Hi everyone! Ashley emailed early today about adopting Emsley. She has a tuxedo kitty already -- and a cat-friendly woofie -- and is quite taken with Emsley's looks.

She was concerned about introducing a second cat into her family and had tons of questions. I forwarded her email to Kat, Karen C and Deb (figured she'd really hit it off with Deb as they are both students of the law).

I also asked Ashley to join us here at Kat's (gave her the URL), explaining that it is a wealth of information in addition to just being downright fun.

Her furbabies are listed on Jenny's (her petsitter)site: http://www.wetnosenews.com/.
Look under cats for Tucker and under dogs for Quincy. Jenny is the one who discovered Emsley.

Anyway, I have totally lost my voice today, Dr. Deb recommended Sleepy Time Tea and sleep, which I plan to do now.

Yes, it's been a good day. There are a couple of snags but SWMBO is taking care of those. And I have no doubts whatsoever they will be smoothed out.

I wanna tee shirt. I wanna tee shirt. Wahhhhhhh. I wanna do interviews with my tee shirt. I wanna do fundraising with my tee shirt. Wahhhhhh.

KC and the Giggleman Kitties said...

I have posted and posted today. Whew. This is the last one, promise. Dr's orders.

Has anyone heard from Rose? Let her know a special little giftie is on it's way. Everyone should know what it is, right. Should be there this week.

And Amber, from Houston Cat Hospital, called and they've got even more cats to find homes for...! Deb's going tomorrow or Saturday to take more pictures.

Promise, I'm going now. I'm just on THRILL from cat work.

KC and the Giggleman Kitties said...

Yes, Deb, I am so not at the computer right now! No, it is Missy and she is teaching the tiny but apt KC how to check her Mommy's email and Kat's posts. Just like I recall certain cats doing for certain other people (who shall remain nameless, DEB) who were ordered to complete and total bedrest. So there!

Jennifer Turek said...

Oh!!! My baby ... my baby! I miss him so much ... another star ... I hope to be closer to a computer for a few hours tomorrow, so I will have a better look at the comments ... having too much fun in Canada, but missing my computer! Talk soon ...

Okay, check this out, Fuzz Pack:

Let me know what you think, suggestions, requests, boos & hisses, whatever.

Whenever someone gets adopted from http://sevenlonelykittens.blogspot.com,, they are moved to this site.

DEB: Naa-naa-naa.

Oh, and I need an update/info on the Middle TN Momma & Kitten -- if they are not adopted, going to list them. That kitten is adorable, looks so much like KC. And the Momma is a beauty. They could always fly to Houston! Right, Deb! ...okay, okay, I'm going to bed now.
