Nimbus

This is Nimbus. He came to us just 3 months after his step-sister Cuteness did 4 years ago. He was rescued from the wild by a Vet who didn't have to do much convincing to have us take him home. He LOVES to play fetch and supervises everything that happens in the house, especially reading and crocheting/knitting activities. His biggest wish is that Cuteness would play with him just a little more and that those silly humans would stay home all day and just pay attention to just him, him him. He is a little softee, the sweetest cat I've ever had. -brooke

Fender

Fender (a.k.a. Fendi) is 12 years old and i've had her since she was a kitten. She was named by my ex-husband who played the Fender Jazz Bass (yes, i also have a Jazz, but no bass! LOL!) Fendi is a real sweetheart and very active. The vet says she is so healthy she looks like a 2 yr.old! She loves to play with plastic rings from water jugs, and also loves to chase the laser. She sleeps under the covers curled up near my legs, even in the summer. And she loves to lay on my lap and watch tv. She gets along great with all the other kitties and even play wrestles with one of the big boys named Mr. Kitty who is twice her size. He usually lets her win and it sure is cute to watch. -Jess

Geoffrey

Geoffrey came from our local humane shelter after the death of my 2 other cats - Chessie and Garlits - a brother and sister who died within 6 months of each other at the ripe old age of 18. My husband decided I needed another cat even though I really wasn't ready for one yet and brought Geoffrey home on my birthday. He's a neutered male domestic shorthair and is a little over 2 years old. Since I wasn't ready for another cat yet it's taken a while for me to warm up to him, but he's won my heart and is a sweet, loveable guy. He has a special toy he likes to drag all over the house like it's "kill" and goes bonkers for the flashlight game. He'll chase the light all over the house! He's also been acting as a go between for the kittens (our newest arrivals, Calico and Bugby) - Friskie isn't too thrilled with them invading her space, but Geoffrey seems to have accepted them and grooms them regularly - pinning them to the floor if he has to to clean their faces. He's being a good older brother and plays with them all the time. -Lea

Panther

I am said to be very "laid back," and although I'm not exactly sure what that means, I do my best to be a good lap cat and a great bed partner! Oh, and pick up a brush...I'm your's forever! The heads of our Pride have discovered that I am very computer literate, and I like helping them "work." When they aren't looking though, I love to run off with their pens and hide them under the rug! -Panther

We should probably point out that Panther presents himself as Alpha Male in his pride; however, he knows all too well that his mother, Minkly, holds the ultimate position of Alpha Female...and she is quick to remind him should he lose sight of that! -Bari w/Cat Happy

Sanjee

Sanjee was a feral kitten, who was rescued from behind a mechanic's shop along with several of her brofurs. She was in a box with her brofurs when this lady came to see them, and she crawled all 3/4 pounds of herself up that lady's sleeve and picked her to be Mommy. Sanjee's been Queen of the House of the (Mostly) Black Cats ever since. Sanjee didn't stay tiny long, but grew up to be a beautiful kitty with shiny fur. As Queen, she has her own bedroom, which she deigns to share with her favorite cat staff, Grandma. Sanjee graciously allows her sisfurs Mini and Boni to come eat at the royal dinner table, but does not allow them up on her queen sized bed. After all, a girl's gotta keep those sisfurs in their place!Sanjee's favorite things are Grandma, rattly mice, her ironing board (Throne!), blogging, Secret Paws, and hissing at Mini. She invites kitties from around the world to come visit her domain, but reminds them that nocat is allowed on her bed. -Robyn

Mistrie

Hello, my name is Mistrie Rose. I am a Mystery to my purrsons, hence my name (Rose for my dusty rose colored nose). I showed up in late Summer of 2004 and I am not saying where I came from. I stayed in the woodshed for a long time and then under the deck during the cold winter. The Lady of the House put a covered bed under the deck for me. She was always calling my name and looking for me and worrying over me so I decided when the snows melted to use the back deck and let her see my pretty face. I purr for her and give her headbutts and let her brush me; but that is all! She sits on the floor inside the house and calls my name and talks to me and pets me. She gives me Fancy Feast along with the girls! I also get treats, but if she comes outside, I run. I am an outside kitty and I shall remain that way! She put flea medicine on me and tried to trick me into eating a pill in food (I was too smart for that). I bring The Lady presents, mice, shrews, even gophers and she praises my work. -Toni (The Calico Girls)

Rincewind

We adopted Rincewind when he was 6 weeks old. A work colleague had had a stray cat make her home in his garden, and when she produced 4 kittens and they became too much for his small flat he asked around in the office if any one could offer homes. I took my other half over there after work and he fell in love with Rincewind right away.Rince has had the time of his life with us these last 2 years. His back yard is a huge cornfield, and his pals and playmates are a gang of farm cats and seemingly neverending groups of pheasants and rabbits from the fields. He's been far from the dangers of busy roads and has truly led the good life out in the English countryside ;)These next few weeks will see a change in our lifestyles as we pick up and move into town. It'll be a new adventure for Rincewind, and here's hoping he has as much fun in the back yard causing chaos with the town cats! (Yes, his collar-less days are almost at an end, lol) -Zoe

Lemieux

I adopted Lemieux shortly after losing both in laws and my Momma cat Cheyenne, and two months before I lost my Dad. She has brought me unbelievable joy. She follows me everywhere [even up ladders], cries when she can't find me, sleeps with me at night, and gets into everything possible. Thanks. -Ann M., FL

Panther & baby

This is a picture of Panther and her baby. Panther came to us about 2 years ago, and it took some time for her to trust us and come close. She has had many babies but none of them survived. On July 27th she had 1 baby outside my front door. I took her and her baby inside so that maybe this little one would make it, however, at 15 days old, she passed over the Rainbow Bridge. I don't know what happened, she was fine in the afternoon and then gone that evening. I will remember her for the sweet little thing she was. I have put Panther back outside and plan to have her spay, so she will not have to go through this again. -Becky

Cuteness

This is Cuteness. My nephew found her in the middle of the road and brought her home to me. That was 4 years and many pounds ago. She loves to look out the window, sleep on the pillow next to me at night, and eat. Oh, she also occasionally plays with her step-brother Nimbus. -Brooke

Madison

Madison was just 3 yrs. old in July. I adopted her from Kat's rescue group when she was just 3 months old. She was kinda the runt of her siblings, but she sure isn't anymore! She is a very lovey girl and demands attention at times. She gets along with Shy Shy pretty well, although Shy Shy would rather her just get along! She is my shadow and I love my Madison girl. -Amy C.

We Shall Never Forget...

Daniel W. McNeal

I am proud to be able to pay tribute to one of those lost in a senseless attack we now refer to as 9/11. On the same hand, I wish I wasn't typing these words and that this tragedy had never happened. But, it did. And although I didn't personally know any one that was there that day, I cry for those that did and those that were there. It still seems unreal that this happened.

Here are a couple excerpts about Daniel:

'The Heart in the 3-Piece Suit'

Daniel W. McNeal wore a three-piece suit in high school. He followed the stock market, loved Ronald Reagan and considered politics as a profession. His mother advised against it. So Daniel went to business school at Georgetown University and one year ago became an analyst for the firm of Sandler O'Neill on the 104th floor of 2 World Trade Center. His plan was to make a name for himself on Wall Street, then write books and become a professor at Georgetown, his sister, Kathleen, said.In the meantime, his annual Christmas present to his family in Towson, Md., was a trip to New York City and a night on the town. "He was so proud of New York and the people he had met and the places he had been," she said.Daniel liked helping people. Once, on a golf course, he threw himself between a hurtling ball and a woman who was about to be hit, Kathleen said. The woman emerged unscathed; the gentlemanly Daniel ended up bleeding from the head and apologizing profusely to the golfers, whose ball he had intercepted, for having interrupted their game.

-- Anon (Friend) 23 Oct 2001

Daniel McNeal Daniel McNeal, the son of Towson residents, was killed at the World Trade Center. His body was found and identified late Thursday.Mr. McNeal, 29, worked on the 104th floor of Two World Trade Center. He was a financial analyst for Sandler O'Neill, an investment banking firm, and lived in New Jersey. He was a graduate of Loyola Blakefield High School, where he was class president in 1990. He earned a degree in finance from Boston College and gained a master's in business degree from Georgetown University. He is survived by his parents and a sister.

Please take a minute and view this beautiful slide show:

http://www.seancohen.com/projects/dan/dan_images/slideshow.htm and also a moment of silence for Daniel McNeal. If you believe in prayer, say a short prayer. If not, just take a moment to be totally silent in remembrance of a life taken before it's time. We remember you today, Daniel McNeal...and may we NEVER forget!

"And the Star-Spangled Banner in triumph doth wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.
Oh! thus be it ever when freemen shall stand
Between their lov'd home and the war's desolation,
Blest with vict'ry and peace, may the heav'n-rescued land
Praise the power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto—"In God is our trust."
And the Star-Spangled Banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave."
-Star Spangled Banner (an excerpt)

Minkly

On a rainy, cold night in February, 1999, we found this very wet, scared little black and white beauty on our porch. We took her in, dried her off, and...well, she never left. We learned shortly thereafter that she was "with kitten." Minkly joined our family very willingly, but, becoming a totally indoor cat was, I believe, quite the new experience for her. She showed absolutely no fear of us, loved being petted and carried around, and came running for attention each time we called her. March 20th, Minkly delivered three beautiful babies in the middle of our couch with us in full attendance of the event. She encouraged us to hold the kittens, and very proudly purred excessively as if to say, "Look what I did!". Minkly has been a wonderful Mom to Polar Bear, Panther and Callie. -Bari

Grace

Grace is about 15 months old now and is the mommy of four -- three boys and a girl. Her name fits her very well, as she is graceful in just about everything she does, even when she and two of her boys play chase around the house in the mornings or evenings. She also loves to chase the laser dot and jump into boxes -- again, all done gracefully! She is a very loving cat, both to her humans and to her sons, purring most of the time, especially when she is getting skritches! -Marilynn @ Writeacher's Thoughts

Holly

Let me tell you a bit about Holly. She is 1 year 8 months old. She is half Maine Coons and Half I don't know (what ever jumped the fence)!!!!! She has a lot of unusual traits (as a lot of Maine Coons have). She eats chicken nuggets but will hold onto them with both paws!! (just like a raccoon). She loves the children and will play with them outside. That means if Mary is rollerskating round and round the house the cat will run with her. She loves to sit on the back of her bike!!!! She is not a lap cat but loves to with you all the time and will follow you into ever room while you are working. Vacuum cleaners, children's noises etc do not bother her. She is very affectionate and will rub her face up to you and she loves to nuzzle in. She will give you little bites on your face and neck. When you hold her she will hug your face wrapping each front legs around your face. She is also a very floppy cat. She loves playing with the children on the floor and will sit right on what they are doing. She is a very good hunter and brings home pheasants, mice, rats, frogs, birds and rabbits. One day she had a rabbit bailed up behind the washing machine when we got it out it hopped outside to freedom minus its ears!! She has a huge tail and walks with it hung down, (her tail is very much like raccoons.) She has long fur which she loves having brushed. Her fur doesn't matt so she doesn't get knots like the Persians. She won a 1st prize at the children's pet day last year. She loves water and will sit on the bath watching, one day she jumped in!!! She loves the plugs from the bath and basin and will carry them around in her teeth. We are always looking for them!!! -Marietta

Oscar

Oscar came to us at 5 weeks old, full of fleas and attitude. The fleas were washed and treated out, the attitude stayed. Oscar has more personality than any cat I have ever met. Hence why I started his website (http://www.oscarsvoice.blogspot.com/) to show him off. These three pictures show you - a close up of his handsome photogenic face as he rests on the handles of my exercise bike (currently knows as his toy dangler). One picture is a lovely one of him sitting on his scratching post and the last one is of him totally nipped out on catnip after stealing the stash of mice I had put away for him. He certainly adds a lot of love to our family.

Patches (II)

This is Patches. She hasn't been posted anywhere yet. She lived as an outside cat for about half of her life. She had two male protectors, Bobby and Soxs outside, but yet I think they fought over her. She wasn't spayed at the time and she never got pregnant, which I thought very unusual. All we could think of is that she was to small or something. But I eventually did get her spayed. All of a sudden the cats around here started to get maimed by something or someone, or disappear . Never did find out what happened. That is when I brought her inside. I had to put Bobby down as whatever happened to him made him blind and he was old. Soxs disappeared. It took a long time before we could touch her or she would become friendly, but now I can love her up and pet her with two hands. When the cats go outside, she is mostly always the first one to come back in. She knows how good she has it now. -Casper's Mom
